Bachelorette 10 – Week 2 Recap

It’s Week 2 – Let the dates begin!

Andi can’t wait to start dating her future husband and she is already drinking The Bachelorette Kool-Aid. I hope things work out for her this season – they look pretty promising so far. She wears the Meadow Necklace from Susanne Elizabeth ($48):

Eric gets the first date card which reads “Eric, Love is everywhere.” Andi wears the sold-out ASTR Scalloped Drape Back Tank. You can try this Loft Beach Lace Racerback Tank ($29.50) for a similar look:

Andi also wears a combination of the Mali Beads bracelets in the Claire ($42) and Marsha ($165) styles:

They start their date out at the beach and seem to be having a great time. Andi wears a White Crochet Bikini from Becca, halter top ($64), hipster bottom ($54):

They helicopter over to Bear Mountain to continue their date and professional snowboarder, Louie Vito gives them a snowboarding lesson. If you don’t remember Louie, he danced with Chelsie Hightower on Dancing With The Stars. Andi wears the Acapulco Gold Leopard Pom Pom Beanie Hat ($44.35) and the Knot ($24) and Square Ring from Susanne Elizabeth ($24):

Beanie

Eric and Andi continue on to have dinner in a cabin and get to know each other better. He gives us some insight into his crazy adventures. This date ends up being bittersweet…they have such a great first date and we get to see how awesome Eric is, only to realize that he is no longer with us. Andi offers Eric the rose and we know that we will see more of him next week.

Back at the mansion, the group date card arrives for Josh, Marquel, Craig, Bradley, Nick S., Ron, Tasos, Cody, Brian, Dylan, Patrick, Carl, Brett and Marcus. It reads “Let’s bare our souls.”

Andi greets the guys and informs them that they are taking lessons in male exotic dancing to perform for charity in front of a live audience. I feel like this is Andi’s opportunity for payback from last season. Also, what girl doesn’t have an ulterior motive. Andi wears a sold-out Wayne Draped Halter Top. I found a few similar options with this Badgley Mischka Cowl Neck Top ($103) and this AtoZ Cowl Halter Top ($34.99):

Wayne

The boys get oiled up and ready to perform, but not until Andi’s pals Sharleen and Kelly from The Bachelor joined her to help judge the guys. Chris Harrison reminds us that this is all for charity, so we don’t have to feel bad about ogling half-naked men. Andi’s outfit includes 7 for All Mankind Skinny Jeans ($139) and Rachel Roy’s Padma sandals ($230.30 at Amazon or $425 at Zappos):

padma

Andi sexes it up for the cocktail party and I love how Craig starts off the night with a toast…foreshadowing his demise. She wore a Belle Black Long Sleeved Mini Dress from AQAQ ($250) which is also available as a Maxi Dress ($133.50):

AQAQ

Meanwhile, Chris gets the next one-on-one date with Andi and his date card reads “Let’s get our love on track.”

Back at the group date, Craig gets pretty trashed and makes a complete fool out of himself. Things get uncomfortable and they had to send Craig back to the mansion to sleep it off. This makes Andi question whether everyone is there for the right reasons. Marcus came out of the situation smelling like a rose and making Andi feel better about the evening. Andi gives him the rose for the evening and it seems that they might have a promising future.

Andi glams it up to take Chris to the derby and gives him the Pretty Woman date in reverse. She looks great in the sold-out Ted Baker Skater Dress. I found a few similar options with the Textured Knit Skater Dress from Forever 21 ($15.80), ASOS Skater Dress ($28.58) and Oasis Lila Embellished Crepe Dress ($118):

skater dressUPDATE: I found this perfect Cap Sleeve Fit & Flare Dress on sale at The Limited for $29.90 which is an even better match for this look:

the limited

It looks like she is wearing the Steve Madden Stecy Sandal ($66.75), which I’ve actually tried on, but they were too narrow for my big feet:

stecy

They sip on Mint Juleps, bet on some races, and chat up an elderly couple about falling in love. They get to know each other and Chris divulges that he was previously engaged, but broke it off because she wasn’t the right one for him. Andi seemed to love his honesty and gave him the rose. She has one more surprise and brings him to a private concert with the band, This Wild Life.

For the rose ceremony, Andi wears the Ditly Gown by Kayat. This Sheath V-Neck Beading Split Front Jersey Dress ($246.99) is similar:

kayat

I think Andi is a smitten kitten over Josh. He seems to really like her and they had their first kiss. These two have a lot in common and will go far.

Craig tries to make things right with Andi by singing her a song and he is no Wes Hayden people, but it didn’t work out for him this week and he went home.

Andi sent home Carl, Nick S. (a.k.a. sad robot), and Craig,

I can’t wait to see what happens next! Who are your favorites so far?

In one of the deleted scenes, Dylan tells Andi that he lost his brother and sister, but they are interrupted before he can tell her what happened:

Cody plays a prank in this clip:

I enjoy reading Bachelor spoilers and if you are interested in finding out what happens in advance you can check out Reality Steve for more information. He also has great behind the scenes details on which cast-offs are dating and who is going take the final rose this season.

The Bachelorette 10 – Week 1 Recap

Hooray for the new season of The Bachelorette!  Andi seems like a great choice for this season, smart, beautiful and knows what she wants. If you’ve seen some of the promos for Andi’s season, then you’ve wondered about her gold dress. Well not to fear, I have it and a great look for less. Andi is wearing the Val Stefani Strapless Gown with Sweep Train ($598). DressFirst has a similar dress for $197.99 that is a great alternative. The picture only has pink shown, but they have it in gold:

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 9.48.19 AM

My big comment as the show kicks off is the promo with Andi talking about how much she loves her job and how awesome it is. Flash forward two minutes and now she is giving it up for a TV show where the majority of the contestants don’t find love. Hmmmmmm…I just felt like that was a sort of misleading intro. It will be interesting to see what Andi does with her life after The Bachelorette is over.

Since we last saw her, Andi has received The Bachelorette makeover. She is looking fit and has gotten rid of that awful ombre hair (normally I like the ombre look, but I didn’t like it on her). She is also getting the wardrobe, as witnessed by her intro shopping trip in California. During the shopping trip she wears the Free People Ethereal Daze Ginger Sheer Panel Envelope Tank ($78):

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 11.34.48 AM

She also wears the White Double Chain Bar Necklace from BouCou Jewelry ($42):

Andi also tries on this Civilianare Military Dress ($195) maybe we’ll see it sometime this season:

On the beach, Andi wears the Crocheted Lace Shorts from Express ($41.94):

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 11.40.28 AM

Under her hoodie, Andi wears the Voda Envy Push Up Braid Halter & Hipster Bikini ($77 for the top $51 for the bottom):

As Andi enters the house to greet Chris Harrison and kick off this crazy journey, she wears the A.L.C. Lily Top ($280), which you can get here, here and here. A.L.C. has a similar Harper Twist Back Tank for $165 or you can get this Charlotte Russe version for $4.99:

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 9.18.39 PM

She is also wearing her beautiful Michael Kors Large Runway Watch ($275) from last season:

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 9.22.35 PM

Andi’s sister visits to help her get ready for the first night. They fake us out and make us think she is going to wear the gold lame dress, but surprise! She looked stunning in her rose ceremony dress (I’m glad she went with this one as opposed to the gold lame). The dress is designed by Brian Rennie for Basler. This gown is a one of a kind runway piece, which can be produced in each size on demand. If you are interested you can private message Basler here on Facebook. This Floor Length Sleeveless Jewel Embellished Dress ($343) is similar:

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.32.06 AM

If you liked the other dress better, it was the David Meister Pleated Halter Gown ($197.28):

david meister
Here are some of the men that stood out to me:

The Good

Marquel – he brought her cookies! Need I say more…

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 9.56.23 AM

Tasos – gets most creative gimmick for the night. I figured he had to step it up since he’s a wedding planner, but I don’t think the lock thing has ever been done on the first night before, so I liked it.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.36.20 AM

Eric Hill – Eric seems like a great guy, I’m not sure if he would fit into Andi’s lifestyle, but I can’t imagine what girl wouldn’t want to be his travel companion. This is bittersweet as Eric has since passed away after filming the show. Hopefully, his time on the show will be a tribute to who he was and a chance for the world to know him.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 9.23.51 PMJosh M. – Josh and Andi seem to have a lot in common and she seemed really into him right off the bat.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.08.54 PM

Nick V. – Nick got the first impression rose, I’m not really sure why, but I think it was because he was so opposite of her normal type and she wanted to try something different for a change.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.28.27 PM

Chris is probably my favorite. He was super cute and is a successful farmer. I’m not sure he is Andi’s type, but I won’t mind watching him for the next few months.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.42.40 PM

The Bad

Emil – I’m sorry did he just say “Anal” on TV?

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.02.37 AM

Brett – he brought her a stolen lamp from his hotel room. Other than the fact that she is a district attorney and he just stole a lamp, I don’t get what he was going for. He should have at least had a witty pickup line to accompany the lamp.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.46.41 AM

Jason – As an urgent care physician you think he would have been smarter than to use a lame pickup line like “I’m a doctor and I can tell that you might have a fever because you look hot.” I probably laughed about this for 20 minutes.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 9.31.37 PM

Cody – Cody comes up pushing the limo with a popped collar, need I say more…

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.24.28 PM

JJ – What exactly is a Pantsapreneur? I hate to break it to you but pants have already been invented.

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 10.38.00 PM

Chris Bukowski – I’m not sure why he came back, but it was totally staged and pointless. The producers obviously set him up to come out there (he wasn’t there for a whole week regardless of what he said). He was miked up and everything. What may have been the wild card factor is Andi not wanting to see him. Which was a wise choice for her, because if she saw what a tool he was on Bachelor Pad that decision was a no brainer.

chris-bukowski-bachelor-pad

At the rose ceremony, Andi eliminated: Emil (shocker), Jason, Josh B., Mike and Rudie.

Some of you may have noticed that to accomodate the shortened time, ABC cut out the intro videos that they normally do in the first episode. Well not to worry, I’ve added them below for your viewing pleasure! At the beginning of all of these promos, Andi wears the Aqua Grecian Pleated Blouson ($258). I found a similar Pleated Bodice and Skirt from Eliza J ($158) for one hundred less and there are a few sizes at Nordstrom for $94.80:

Screen Shot 2014-05-24 at 12.45.05 AM

We also have a few deleted scenes to watch this week. The first one are the long hair don’t care boys talking hair tips:

In this clip, the Rosemaster himself breaks a glass and reveals that this has happened before:

Who knew that Andi’s dad decided to surprise her on the first night?:

He jokes around with some of the bachelors:

Andi and her dad have a touching moment as she walks him out:

I enjoy reading Bachelor spoilers and if you are interested in finding out what happens in advance you can check out Reality Steve for more information. He also has great behind the scenes details on which cast-offs are dating and who is going take the final rose this season.

Summer 2014 TV Preview

I’m a little late on this one, but better late than never, right? Set your DVRs for what is shaping up to be a great summer lineup.

May 19

The Bachelorette (ABC)

Andi Dorfman is kicking things off on May 19 with another season of our favorite show. This season will be interesting because one of the contestants, Eric Hill, has since passed away. Hopefully, it will give people a chance to get to know him and maybe he will inspire us. Here’s a little taste of what we have in store this season:

You can read about Andi’s previous adventures on The Bachelor here.

June 2

Mistresses (ABC)

So I’m going to be honest here, I never finished last season. I was going to finish blogging it and I was saving them to watch later. So I think I am going to have a guilty pleasure Mistresses marathon before the season starts. This might be fun as I have two big trips coming up and I could probably get through the rest of the episodes on the plane.

You can catch up on my previous Mistresses recaps here.

June 11

Suits (USA)

We just watched the Suits season three finale, but not to worry, season four starts on June 11. The hubs will be happy to hear that – we love this show. In the finale, Mike decided to leave Pearson Spector and go legit. That was a bittersweet moment, but it will be interesting to see what happens to the characters now. Here is a preview of season four:

Graceland (USA)

This is another show that I started blogging about and saved the last few episodes to watch later than never did. Right now Comcast is offering the entire season On Demand so you can get caught up before the new season starts. You can also watch all of season one online here. I will definitely be taking advantage of this if not only for Daniel Sunjata. Here is a preview of season 2:

Here are my recaps of the first half of last season if you want to check it out.

June 22

True Blood (HBO)

So sad that it’s the last season of True Blood, but there are a lot of questions to be answered in Season 7. What happened to Eric? We thought Sookie would finally end up with Warlow, but he turned out to be a jerk. Surprisingly, Bill and company saved her, is there still a chance for those crazy kids to work things out? But hold up – fast forward six months into the future and Sookie is apparently with Alcide (what a rip off if you had been waiting forever to see them hook up and they just glossed over it!). Sam is the mayor and Tara may have reconciled with her mother once and for all. The preview for the final season looks pretty good, I can’t wait:

For my previous True Blood recaps, click here.

Falling Skies (TNT)

Season three definitely delivered on the finale and as we thought the Volm were up to no good. The 2nd Mass’ saviors turned out to be their downfall. Karen finally bought the bullet, but we did find out that Anne and Alexis were still alive. It will be interesting to see how the 2nd Mass gets out of this newest challenge now that the Eshpeni are gone.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about but want to get into Falling Skies, check out my recaps from Season 3 here.

June 24

Covert Affairs (USA)

Annie went all the way last season and finally killed Henry. I’m not sure what that will mean for season 5, but here’s a sneak peek:

June 30

Under the Dome (CBS)

This is another show that I watch with the hubs. This show is so weird, but we keep watching it, go figure… I assume that since it is back for Season two, the network will step it up a bit. With Stephen King at the helm, this is bound to get interesting.

July 6

Witches of East End (Lifetime)

I forgot about this one until Kerry from Till Then Smile Often reminded me. I watched the first season and this really warmed up at the finale. The portal to Asgard was opened and something came out, who knows what…Killian and Dash got their powers, unbeknownst to them and it will be interesting to watch them learn to use them in season two.

August 4

Bachelor in Paradise (ABC)

I cannot wait for this show. I am actually more excited about this than I am for Andi’s season. I can’t wait to see who will be case and how this show will work. More to come on this one soon I hope!

5 on Friday: Loved Me Back to Life

It’s time for another edition of Five on Friday with A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life BlogHello Happiness and Carolina Charm.

5 on Friday Logo - Final

I didn’t have a specific theme this week, but there are a few things that I have been loving this week and needed to share with you.

1. Celine Dion’s new single “Loved Me Back to Life”

Celine Dion

I may have mentioned before that I am a HUGE Celine Dion fan. I have seen her in concert three times (twice in Vegas and once here in Michigan) and she is amazing. I remember how starstruck I was the first time I saw her in concert, she has the most beautiful voice and she is a great performer. I couldn’t wait to hear her newest single and have already preordered her new album on iTunes, which comes out on November 5th.

 2. Wen Fall Apple Spice Cleansing Conditioner ($29)

Wen Fall Apple Spice

Wen Fall Apple Spice

Chaz Dean has released a limited edition Fall Apple Spice Cleansing Conditioner on QVC. I can’t wait to get mine and try it out! Click here to read my post about the Wen Cleansing Conditioners if you’ve never tried it before.

3. Starbucks Refreshers

Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher

Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher

I am not a coffee drinker, I don’t like the taste or flavor of any coffee products. I also don’t like tea or soda, so this limits the choices I have to get caffeine. I recently tried the new Starbucks Refreshers and I am hooked! I find that they taste great and they don’t make me jittery and nauseous like some other energy drinks out there. They also don’t throw off my entire sleep schedule like a 5 hour or Red Bull, which is great.

Strawberry Lemonade Refresher

Strawberry Lemonade Refresher

I have tried them at the store, in a can and as a supplement in my water and really enjoy all of them. My favorite flavors are the Very Berry Hibiscus and the Strawberry Lemonade. It also gives me something to get at Starbucks when friends or colleagues want to stop there.

4. Jason and Molly Mesnick’s Podcast: This is Reality

mesnick

I love podcasts and I love the Bachelor and Bachelorette, so when Jason and Molly Mesnick came out with their own podcast I knew I would love. I just didn’t realize how much until I started listening to it. If you’ve ever wanted the inside scoop on what goes down on the Bachelor, look no further. These two give an inside look into their lives and their experience on the show. Each podcast is about 30 minutes each. I got caught up on them this week and I’m hooked!

5. ClearCheckBook.com

register

I have finally entered the digital age! I am one of those people that keeps a paper checkbook register and balances my checkbook periodically. That is how I was raised and the habit stuck. I decided to try out an online system so I can better track my spending and get rid of my old paper checkbook register. I settled on ClearCheckBook.com and I really like how it works. You enter all of your transactions and then you can “jive” them once they clear your account. You can also place a category on each purchase which allows you to pull some cool charts to see where your money is going. This is a huge departure for me, but if I still like it after a few months I might decide to do my budgeting there as well, instead of with my trusty excel spreadsheet.

Do you have anything that you are loving this week and want to share?

Summer TV Preview Extravaganza

I love TV. Every fall I used to get a schedule together of all the new shows I was going to watch and what I could reasonably tape on my VCR. Many of the networks have changed this format so now I get Fall and Summer premieres. And I have a DVR which means even more shows to watch. It’s like Christmas!

Here are the shows that I plan to tune in for this summer. Some are returning and some are brand new:

FOX The Goodwin Games – premieres on May 20 at 8:30 p.m.

The show focuses on siblings who inherit a fortune from their father but only if they can play by his rules. It is the newest endeavor from the executive producers of How I Met Your Mother and stars Scott Foley who I have crushed on since Felicity. The pilot is currently screening on Hulu so you can check it out in advance. The reviews look promising so far.

ABC The Bachelorette – Season 9 premieres on May 27 at 9 p.m.

I am slightly obsessed with the Bachelor and Bachelorette so I can’t wait for a new season! Desiree Hartsock is this year’s bachelorette. You might remember her emotional exit during Sean Lowe’s season. If you want to know who Desiree picks and spoilers from the season make sure to read Reality Steve’s blog.

If you tune in on Monday night, Desiree will take live questions on Twitter from 8-10 p.m. @DesHartsock.

ABC Mistresses – Premieres June 3 at 10 p.m.

I don’t know too much about this one except that Alyssa Milano is in it and I heart her. I’m interested to see how make the characters likeable even though they’re mistresses. It should be a good soap to watch and I hope everyone will have fantastic clothes!

One of my favorite blogs, Possessionista, has already posted a fashion preview here.

USA Graceland – Premieres June 6 at 10 p.m.

Graceland follows a group of undercover FBI agents as live together in a beachfront house. It’s from the creator of White Collar, Jeff Eastin, which is another great show. I’m mostly just watching this one for the eye candy…Daniel Sunjata…yum!

TNT Falling Skies – Season 3 premieres June 9 at 10 p.m.

My husband and I have watched Falling Skies together since it premiered. It’s an action-packed sci-fi action drama starring Noah Wyle. We last left the 2nd Mass with Tom taking on the role of U.S. President and Anne finding out she was pregnant.

USA Necessary Roughness – Season 3 premieres June 12 at 10 p.m.

This show has really started to heat up! We last left Dr. Dani revealing all of her feelings to Matt, but it looks like Matt’s new girlfriend is pregnant. Rex came out of the closet and Nico might be gone for good. John Stamos is joining the cast so it could mean a third love interest for Dani!

HBO True Blood – Season 6 premieres June 16 at 9 p.m.

True Blood is back! Last season left off with Bill becoming possessed by Lilith, the first vampire, and ended in a cliffhanger. Will Bill kill Sookie and Eric? Who will Sookie end up with? Is Bill gone forever?

Lifetime Devious Maids – Premieres June 23 at 10 p.m.

Created by Marc Cherry and produced by Eva Longoria this show is gunning to be the next Desperate Housewives. The show follows five maids for the rich and famous who use their position to achieve their own dreams. The preview teases lots of different plot twists and if it’s anything like the first season of Desperate Housewives we should be in for a good show.

CBS Under the Dome – Premieres June 24 at 10 p.m.

From auther Stephen King, Under the Dome should be a great sci-fi survival show, after watching the preview it sort of reminds me of Lost. I anticipate lots of fun twists and turns along the way. I also like Rachelle LeFevre and thought she was great in Twilight and Off the Map. I think this will be a show that both my husband and I can watch together.

USA Covert Affairs – Season 4 premieres July 16 at 9 p.m.

Season three ended with some big cliffhangers – Auggie and Annie finally kissed and Annie was presented with a mysterious file from Henry Wilcox. I really liked last season’s arc with Lena and Simon, hopefully we will see Annie get challenged again this year. I think Auggie is great but I would really like to see Annie end up with Eyal because their chemistry is hot!

USA Suits – Season 3 premieres July 16 at 10 p.m.

At the end of season two, Mike finally revealed to Rachel that he never went to Harvard. This didn’t seem to bother her because they hooked up in a very steamy sex scene. Harvey and Jessica are back in control of the firm, but moving forward with the merger. My husband and I love this show and we have a little crush on Gabriel Macht who plays Harvey. It will be interesting to see if he ever gets together with his secretary, Donna. One of my favorite parts of this show are the clothes. The women are impeccably dressed every week and I would kill for their wardrobe.

What shows will you be watching this summer? What are you most looking forward to? Let me know if there are other shows you think I should check out.
