Suits “Denial” Recap

Season five opens with a dream sequence and we see that Harvey (Gabriel Macht) is dealing with Donna (Sarah Rafferty) leaving him. In the dream sequence Jessica is wearing an all white suit. This Calvin Klein Blazer ($64.99) and Pencil Skirt ($54.98) are similar:

Calvin Klein suit

Dream Donna wore a sold out Bow Front Cutout Dress by Burberry. This C. Luce Sheath Dress with Bow ($24) is similar:

Donna is determined to be Louis’ (Rick Hoffman) secretary and she throws out all of his other resumes until she can convince him that she means business. I am guessing she wore the Donna Karan Belted Stretch Crepe Dress ($1,495) or something very similar. I found this Express Long Sleeve Surplice Dress ($59.90) to recreate the look:

dkny

Harvey is not taking Donna’s abandonment lightly and it seems to be affecting him more than he realizes. Jessica (Gina Torres) confronts him and asks him to close a new deal for the firm. She wore a the sold out Alexander McQueen Tailored Silk Mikado Jacket. I found this Lasting Moments Peplum Jacket Dress ($368) that is similar and you could mix and match the dress and the jacket.

Alexander McQueen

Donna interrupts Louis during his lunch to tell him that she officially starts as his secretary today, which culminates in a weird sexual innuendo banter between them. Donna looks smashing in a black trench. This Calvin Klein Double-Breasted Belted Trench Coat ($99.98) is similar:

As Donna and Louis kick off day two of their new working relationship, he is having a hard time believing that she isn’t going to leave him for Harvey. Donna wore the Cady Dress by Armani Collezioni ($765). This Light Blue Draped V-neck Sleeveless A-line Short Cascade Dress ($110.67) is similar:

armani

Harvey’s worst fears are coming true and Jessica calls him out for not being able to get shit done without Donna. She demands that he get it together or she will. She has on an awesome cape style jacket with fur detail on the sleeves. This fur trimmed cape ($63.99) is similar:

Fur cape

Donna and Louis come up with their own team ritual to solidify the fact that she isn’t going back to Harvey. Donna wore a beautiful dress with rose graphics. This Calvin Klein Floral Knit Sheath Dress ($118) has a similar style:

floral sheath

In the end, Harvey is starting to come around to the fact that Donna isn’t coming back, but he is still dealing with panic attacks. It is really interesting to watch his character deal with this because he is so used to being in control.

Donna buys Rachel (Meghan Markle) Tiffany’s to celebrate her engagement and to thank her for doing all of Harvey’s extra work. Harvey in turn takes Mike (Patrick Adams) to the Nets game…front row.

All is well for now, but this is only the first episode…

Suits “Pound of Flesh” Recap

This episode of Suits starts off with a bang, when Mike (Patrick Adams) turns off Rachel’s (Meghan Markle) alarm since she’s been burning the candle at both ends. Rachel is sleeping casual with a TopShop Viscose Scoop Tee ($20) and Sweats by Norma Kamali ($19):

sweats

Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Mike are still dancing around Giles Industries trying to knock each other out. Jessica (Gina Torres) and Harvey need to find a way to block Mike from going after some new shares that are available. Jessica looks commanding in a white asymmetrical dress. This Asymmetrical Shift Dress from Victoria’s Secret ($44.50) will give you that same power look:

I love these next scenes with Donna (Sarah Rafferty) and Louis (Rick Hoffman) as Donna is practicing for The Merchant of Venice. As someone that also has billable time, I just keep thinking, what are they billing their play practice to? Donna wears this chic Roland Mouret Atria wool dress. I though this Collection Sheath Dress ($98) from The Limited was a great match:

roland mouret

Rachel’s brainstorm with Logan (Brendan Hines), went well and the board liked their ideas. She still isn’t calling him back because I think she is afraid of what will happen if they get too close. I love her Michael Kors Contrast-Trim Silk Blouse ($895). You can get this look with this Brooks Brothers Non-Iron Fitted Pinstripe Dress Shirt ($98) and the Stella and Dot Signature Engravable Disc Necklace ($69):

contrast button up

Jeff (D.B. Woodside) figures out a way for Harvey and Jessica to buy the available shares making it questionable, not illegal. Jessica is wearing a stunning blazer with a very different detailing on the sleeve. I loved this blazer, but couldn’t find anything similar. I did find this K Studio Twill Blazer ($20.99) which was the only blazer with any kind of sleeve detail that I could find:

bell sleeves

Donna had an amazing premiere of her Merchant of Venice play and is so grateful to Louis for helping her learn her lines. Unfortunately, Shylock was injured and the play can’t go on without him. Donna wants Louis to take his spot so the show can go on. We learn that Louis has stage fright ever since he peed his pants in front of the whole school. Donna looks dashing in a white sheath dress. You can look dashing in this Pitching Perfectly Dress from ModCloth ($74.99):

Rachel ended up fainting at school and Mike meets Harvey at the hospital. Harvey convinces Mike to get some steak across the street while they wait for Rachel to wake up. He also convinces Mike that the stock sale has been postponed. Sean Cahill (Neal McDonough) confronts Mike and Harvey accusing them of collusion. Jessica ended up going behind their backs and buying the stock herself even though Harvey gave Mike his word that the sale was postponed.

As Rachel is leaving the hospital, she wears a blue silk cami blouse. I found this Chelsea 28 Flutter Sleeve Shell ($68) that I thought matched the color and I loved the look of it:

flutter sleeve blouse

Donna and Louis have a touching moment, as he realizes she helped him get over his stage fright. She wore a beautiful blue Roberto Cavalli Lace Keyhole Long-Sleeve Dress (sold out). I thought this Ralph Lauren Sequined Floral Lace Sheath Dress ($174) had a similar feminine look:

roberto cavalli

Harvey meets with Mike and tells him that Jessica won’t put the shares back up for bid and apologizes for getting them into this situation by not trusting Mike’s original proposal. He tells Mike to do what he needs to do and Mike goes to talk to Forstman (Eric Roberts). What he discovers is that Jonathan (Brandon Firla) has already accepted the money and has no idea that he has written himself out of the deal.

At the end of the day, Harvey remembers what is important and meets Donna outside of the office with flowers for her dressing room and a ride to the theater. This was a seriously sweet moment! As Donna gets in the car, you get a glimpse of her  Gucci Microguccissima Patent Leather Dome Satchel Bag (sold-out) and Gianvito Rossi Closed Toe Slip Ons (sold-out). I’ve mentioned this Textured Bowler Bag from Express ($59.90) as a great look for less and found these Ivanka Trump Janie Pumps ($125) to match:

Suits “Leveraged” Recap

Suits starts off with a bang this week, with Donna (Sarah Rafferty) ripping Mike (Patrick Adams) a new one for using her to screw over Harvey (Gabriel Macht). He apologizes by sending her Balenciaga…a noble effort.

Harvey goes to Eric Woodall’s (Zeljko Ivanek) house to confront him and “poke the bear.” Harvey just can’t resist, but Eric informs him that his new friend Sean Cahill (Neal McDonough) will be doing the dirty work this time.

Harvey decides to get Louis (Rick Hoffman) involved to try and split Mike’s focus. Mike uses Louis’ personal feelings against Sheila against him and Louis loses the battle. I couldn’t believe Mike stooped that low.

Jessica (Gina Torres) tries to keep Jeff (D.B. Woodside) in check and he doesn’t like it. I’m not sure if hiring him was the best idea for the firm. Sean breaks the news that Jeff was about to be fired from the SEC, which Jessica didn’t know.

At the end of the day, Mike makes a deal with the devil to win his case and ultimately get himself fired, Jessica and Jeff make Cahill a great deal, which he uses to stick it to them and Logan makes a move on Rachel, but she walks away.

Here are some of my favorite outfits from this episode:

Donna

Donna looks fabulous as usual in a Lace Panel Sheath Dress from L’Wrenn Scott (sold-out) and her Gucci Microguccissima Patent Leather Dome Satchel Bag (sold-out). To recreate this look, I selected this Michelle Keegan Loves Lipsy Body-Conscious Dress With Lace Mesh Detail ($125.76) and this Textured Bowler Bag from Express, now on sale for $41.93):

lace dress

Jessica

Jessica always dresses to show that she’s the boss and this Tailored Embroidered Fishtail Jacket by L’Wren Scott (sold out). To recreate this I tried to find something similar, but aside from making it myself, struck out. I did find this Beniamina Blazer from Guess ($158) that I thought had a similar feel to Jessica’s blazer:

gold blazer

Jessica pairs that jacket with a Gibo Vintage Pencil Skirt ($177.51). Since there is only one left, I found this Lafayette 148 Dayna Over-the-Knee Skirt with Side Slit ($97) to pair with the jacket I found above:

gibo

Rachel

Rachel (Meghan Markle) is still dealing with Logan Sanders (Brendan Hines) and is getting pushed closer and closer to him. She wears a cardigan by L’Wrenn Scott (sold out) and paired it with a Dolce & Gabbana Stretch Wool Pencil Skirt ($995). I found this Antonio Melani Carla Floral-Lace Cardigan ($65.40) and this Ann Taylor Pencil Skirt ($79) to recreate the look:

embroidered cardigan

Rachel confronts Mike about what he did to Louis and he throws it right back at her – Harvey and Louis wouldn’t hesitate to do it to him and Gilles Industries. Rachel wears a Turtleneck from Ones ($366). I liked this 525 America Turtleneck Sweater for a little less:

turtleneck

Rachel goes to meet Logan about the work he asked her to do. She is trying to think two steps ahead of him, but he doesn’t like it. I’m not sure what kind of message she is trying to send with her sheer back black blouse with no bra, but I’m not sure its the right one. She pairs that with a Schumacher Brown Knee Length Skirt (sold out) and some Christian Louboutin slingbacks. To recreate the look, I found this Forever 21 Tie-Front Georgette Blouse ($17.80) and Loft Scuba Pencil Skirt ($69.50):

Suits “Two in the Knees” Recap

This episode was action-packed! Even though Mike (Patrick Adams) went legit, Harvey (Gabriel Macht) still has secrets that can be used against him and nobody is safe. Rachel (Meghan Markle) had to use her influence with Logan (Brendan Hines)  to set things right which might lead her down a slippery slope.

Things are mostly resolved in the end, but for how long, who knows?

Here are my favorite looks from this episode:

Rachel

When Rachel comes in from working an all-nighter, she is wearing a Burberry Long Slim Fit Coat. It is hard to see in the picture, but the opening camera shot captures all of its beauty. I found a similar DKNY Peyton Trench Coat ($182):

burberry trench

Logan meets with Rachel to try and sugar coat some of his dealings with Mike. I can already tell that this situation is going to head down an interesting path. Rachel wears a super feminine lace trimmed Valentino sweater ($774). I thought this Chelsea28 Lace Yoke Sweater ($40.80) was a great look for less.

lace sweater

Donna

Donna (Sarah Rafferty) meets with Mike to catch up and talk about Harvey. Unfortunately, she tells Mike something about Harvey that Mike ends up using against him. In this scene she wears a fabulous Burberry Buckingham Double Breasted Cotton Trench ($1,495) and carries the Gucci Microguccissima Patent Leather Dome Satchel Bag (sold-out). This Calvin Klein Double Breasted Trench Coat ($158) and this Textured Bowler Bag from Express ($59.90) are amazing looks for less:

donna trench

Donna and Louis (Rick Hoffman) are becoming more buddy buddy this season. They strategize on how Louis is going to make amends with Jeff Malone (DB Woodside). Donna’s dress is perfect and no wonder, it is Alexander McQueen’s Cap Sleeve Deep V-Neck Dress ($1,595). This Marc New York by Andrew Marc Knit Midi Dress ($138) would be perfect to wear to work:

mcqueen

Louis comes to Donna for advice about Jeff Malone, who he thinks is gay and attracted to him, ha! She wears a sold-out Prabal Gurung flower print dress. There is a sleeveless version here for $1,303. I found three great looks for less for this outfit. The first, is a Floral V-Back Dress from Loft ($89.50), the second is a Print Sheath Dress from Adrianna Papell ($138), and the third is a Sleeveless Ruched Front Floral Instantly Slimming Dress from White House Black Market ($170):

Donna is the queen of power walks and talks with Jessica in a Lanvin Twist Front Bi-Colour Dress. This MinkPink House Of Cards Dress ($36.99) is similar:

Jessica

Jeff uses Louis to get Jessica (Gina Torres) to help him out with a case. She wears a fantastic white ruffle collar blazer from Alexander McQueen ($1,095.94). This Joan Rivers Ruffle Neckline Jacket with 3/4 Sleeve ($18.38) is somewhat similar:

Suits “Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner” Recap

Things really started to heat up in this week’s episode of Suits. Mike (Patrick Adams) has all of Pearson Specter working against him, but he seems to be holding his own.

Louis (Rick Hoffman) is devastated when Jeff Malone (DB Woodside) comes in as a new partner and takes his dream. He bounces back and probably is the better man in the end.

Jessica’s (Gina Torres) fashion choices have taken a different turn this season, she is wearing more pink and they are showing her softer side, which is nice to see. Here were some of my favorite looks from this episode:

Rachel

Upon waking up, we see Rachel (Meghan Markle) wearing a personalized EberJay Gisele PJ Top ($115). This similar Victoria’s Secret Knit Sleepover Pajama is only $49.50:

eberjay

As Rachel gets ready to tell Harvey (Gabriel Macht) that she had an affair with their newest client, she wore a Nina Ricci Shell with Lace Insets ($249). This Slub Jersey Lacy Tank ($14.80) from Forever 21 is similar:

nina ricci

Jessica

As Jessica dashes Louis’ hopes and dreams by hiring Jeff Malone she wears a sold-out Mugler Structured Curve Blazer and a sold-out Burberry Prorsum  Floral-Jacquard Pencil Skirt. I tried to recreate this look with an ASOS Cropped Blazer With Clean Lapel ($85.74) and Brooks Brothers Jacquard Pencil Skirt ($198):

burberry jacquard

As Jessica gets schooled by Donna (Sarah Rafferty) on how to keep Louis happy, she wears a feminine sold-out Roksanda Ilincic Margot Wool Crepe Dress. This Limited Edition Nude Pink Falbala Sleeves Backless Dress ($64.52) from Choies is a great match:

Suits “One, Two, Three, Go…” Recap

I’ve wanted to cover Suits on my blog for some time and I am excited to start this season! I watch this show with my husband and LOVE the outfits. From Jessica’s (Gina Torres) power dresses to Donna’s (Sarah Rafferty) polished look, I can’t wait to find the looks for less.

Season four sees everything changing, from Mike (Patrick Adams) leaving the firm to go legit, to Rachel (Meghan Markle) coming into her own as Harvey’s number two, it will be interesting to see how the dynamic will change.

Here are some of my favorite looks from this episode:

Rachel

I loved this feminine Burberry Prorsum Blue Lace Pencil Skirt, no wonder it’s sold-out. She paired it with a Burberry Brit Stretch Cotton Shirt ($225) and Yves Saint Laurent Mini ‘Cabas ChYc’ Burgundy Leather Tote Bag. Get this look for yourself with this Minuet Petite Lace Zip Back Skirt (about $50), Banana Republic Fitted Non-Iron Sateen Shirt ($69.50) and Michael Kors Selma Large Satchel ($267.99):

Rachel is always polished, even in her Burberry Check Stretch-Silk Dressing Gown. I thought this striped kimono robe from Victoria’s Secret ($52) would make a good alternative.

burberry robeRachel and Mike are getting played against each other by Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and she has to put her foot down with Harvey. She looks calm and collected in her Alexander Wang Exposed Dart Sheath Dress ($297). I thought this Ultra Chic Sheath Dress from Forever 21 ($17.80) had fun details like Rachel’s dress for a similar look:

alexander wang

Jessica

Jessica struggles with her decision to hire Jeff Malone (DB Woodside) and I have to respect her decision to make him choose between a personal or professional relationship. For their last night she wears a Lanvin wrap-front piqué coat ($4,460) and Salvatore Ferragamo Double Gancini Leather Belt ($350). To recreate this look, I found a London Fog Trench ($258) and Patent Double Keeper Skinny Belt ($25):

Summer 2014 TV Preview

I’m a little late on this one, but better late than never, right? Set your DVRs for what is shaping up to be a great summer lineup.

May 19

The Bachelorette (ABC)

Andi Dorfman is kicking things off on May 19 with another season of our favorite show. This season will be interesting because one of the contestants, Eric Hill, has since passed away. Hopefully, it will give people a chance to get to know him and maybe he will inspire us. Here’s a little taste of what we have in store this season:

You can read about Andi’s previous adventures on The Bachelor here.

June 2

Mistresses (ABC)

So I’m going to be honest here, I never finished last season. I was going to finish blogging it and I was saving them to watch later. So I think I am going to have a guilty pleasure Mistresses marathon before the season starts. This might be fun as I have two big trips coming up and I could probably get through the rest of the episodes on the plane.

You can catch up on my previous Mistresses recaps here.

June 11

Suits (USA)

We just watched the Suits season three finale, but not to worry, season four starts on June 11. The hubs will be happy to hear that – we love this show. In the finale, Mike decided to leave Pearson Spector and go legit. That was a bittersweet moment, but it will be interesting to see what happens to the characters now. Here is a preview of season four:

Graceland (USA)

This is another show that I started blogging about and saved the last few episodes to watch later than never did. Right now Comcast is offering the entire season On Demand so you can get caught up before the new season starts. You can also watch all of season one online here. I will definitely be taking advantage of this if not only for Daniel Sunjata. Here is a preview of season 2:

Here are my recaps of the first half of last season if you want to check it out.

June 22

True Blood (HBO)

So sad that it’s the last season of True Blood, but there are a lot of questions to be answered in Season 7. What happened to Eric? We thought Sookie would finally end up with Warlow, but he turned out to be a jerk. Surprisingly, Bill and company saved her, is there still a chance for those crazy kids to work things out? But hold up – fast forward six months into the future and Sookie is apparently with Alcide (what a rip off if you had been waiting forever to see them hook up and they just glossed over it!). Sam is the mayor and Tara may have reconciled with her mother once and for all. The preview for the final season looks pretty good, I can’t wait:

For my previous True Blood recaps, click here.

Falling Skies (TNT)

Season three definitely delivered on the finale and as we thought the Volm were up to no good. The 2nd Mass’ saviors turned out to be their downfall. Karen finally bought the bullet, but we did find out that Anne and Alexis were still alive. It will be interesting to see how the 2nd Mass gets out of this newest challenge now that the Eshpeni are gone.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about but want to get into Falling Skies, check out my recaps from Season 3 here.

June 24

Covert Affairs (USA)

Annie went all the way last season and finally killed Henry. I’m not sure what that will mean for season 5, but here’s a sneak peek:

June 30

Under the Dome (CBS)

This is another show that I watch with the hubs. This show is so weird, but we keep watching it, go figure… I assume that since it is back for Season two, the network will step it up a bit. With Stephen King at the helm, this is bound to get interesting.

July 6

Witches of East End (Lifetime)

I forgot about this one until Kerry from Till Then Smile Often reminded me. I watched the first season and this really warmed up at the finale. The portal to Asgard was opened and something came out, who knows what…Killian and Dash got their powers, unbeknownst to them and it will be interesting to watch them learn to use them in season two.

August 4

Bachelor in Paradise (ABC)

I cannot wait for this show. I am actually more excited about this than I am for Andi’s season. I can’t wait to see who will be case and how this show will work. More to come on this one soon I hope!

Summer TV Preview Extravaganza

I love TV. Every fall I used to get a schedule together of all the new shows I was going to watch and what I could reasonably tape on my VCR. Many of the networks have changed this format so now I get Fall and Summer premieres. And I have a DVR which means even more shows to watch. It’s like Christmas!

Here are the shows that I plan to tune in for this summer. Some are returning and some are brand new:

FOX The Goodwin Games – premieres on May 20 at 8:30 p.m.

The show focuses on siblings who inherit a fortune from their father but only if they can play by his rules. It is the newest endeavor from the executive producers of How I Met Your Mother and stars Scott Foley who I have crushed on since Felicity. The pilot is currently screening on Hulu so you can check it out in advance. The reviews look promising so far.

ABC The Bachelorette – Season 9 premieres on May 27 at 9 p.m.

I am slightly obsessed with the Bachelor and Bachelorette so I can’t wait for a new season! Desiree Hartsock is this year’s bachelorette. You might remember her emotional exit during Sean Lowe’s season. If you want to know who Desiree picks and spoilers from the season make sure to read Reality Steve’s blog.

If you tune in on Monday night, Desiree will take live questions on Twitter from 8-10 p.m. @DesHartsock.

ABC Mistresses – Premieres June 3 at 10 p.m.

I don’t know too much about this one except that Alyssa Milano is in it and I heart her. I’m interested to see how make the characters likeable even though they’re mistresses. It should be a good soap to watch and I hope everyone will have fantastic clothes!

One of my favorite blogs, Possessionista, has already posted a fashion preview here.

USA Graceland – Premieres June 6 at 10 p.m.

Graceland follows a group of undercover FBI agents as live together in a beachfront house. It’s from the creator of White Collar, Jeff Eastin, which is another great show. I’m mostly just watching this one for the eye candy…Daniel Sunjata…yum!

TNT Falling Skies – Season 3 premieres June 9 at 10 p.m.

My husband and I have watched Falling Skies together since it premiered. It’s an action-packed sci-fi action drama starring Noah Wyle. We last left the 2nd Mass with Tom taking on the role of U.S. President and Anne finding out she was pregnant.

USA Necessary Roughness – Season 3 premieres June 12 at 10 p.m.

This show has really started to heat up! We last left Dr. Dani revealing all of her feelings to Matt, but it looks like Matt’s new girlfriend is pregnant. Rex came out of the closet and Nico might be gone for good. John Stamos is joining the cast so it could mean a third love interest for Dani!

HBO True Blood – Season 6 premieres June 16 at 9 p.m.

True Blood is back! Last season left off with Bill becoming possessed by Lilith, the first vampire, and ended in a cliffhanger. Will Bill kill Sookie and Eric? Who will Sookie end up with? Is Bill gone forever?

Lifetime Devious Maids – Premieres June 23 at 10 p.m.

Created by Marc Cherry and produced by Eva Longoria this show is gunning to be the next Desperate Housewives. The show follows five maids for the rich and famous who use their position to achieve their own dreams. The preview teases lots of different plot twists and if it’s anything like the first season of Desperate Housewives we should be in for a good show.

CBS Under the Dome – Premieres June 24 at 10 p.m.

From auther Stephen King, Under the Dome should be a great sci-fi survival show, after watching the preview it sort of reminds me of Lost. I anticipate lots of fun twists and turns along the way. I also like Rachelle LeFevre and thought she was great in Twilight and Off the Map. I think this will be a show that both my husband and I can watch together.

USA Covert Affairs – Season 4 premieres July 16 at 9 p.m.

Season three ended with some big cliffhangers – Auggie and Annie finally kissed and Annie was presented with a mysterious file from Henry Wilcox. I really liked last season’s arc with Lena and Simon, hopefully we will see Annie get challenged again this year. I think Auggie is great but I would really like to see Annie end up with Eyal because their chemistry is hot!

USA Suits – Season 3 premieres July 16 at 10 p.m.

At the end of season two, Mike finally revealed to Rachel that he never went to Harvard. This didn’t seem to bother her because they hooked up in a very steamy sex scene. Harvey and Jessica are back in control of the firm, but moving forward with the merger. My husband and I love this show and we have a little crush on Gabriel Macht who plays Harvey. It will be interesting to see if he ever gets together with his secretary, Donna. One of my favorite parts of this show are the clothes. The women are impeccably dressed every week and I would kill for their wardrobe.

What shows will you be watching this summer? What are you most looking forward to? Let me know if there are other shows you think I should check out.
