Meghan Markle’s Engagement Style

February 1, 2018 by DetroitDuchess Leave a Comment

I am SO excited about Prince Harry’s engagement to Meghan Markle. I’ve covered Suits many times on the blog before and just love Meghan’s style. Because Harry is currently 5th in line for the throne (6th after William and Catherine’s new baby is born) the couple will have less stringent wardrobe guidelines and I’m excited to see how Meghan adds her own personal flair to her royal style.

This interview of the happy couple was so sweet and definitely made me think about the wonderful opportunity she will have for change in her new role:

I loved Megan’s look in this video and when she announced her engagement. She is so polished and makes it look effortless. I wanted to recreate the look for myself with some more affordable pieces. Let’s start with her dress. It was the P.A.R.O.S.H. Fitted Bow Detail Dress which has sadly sold out. I found this American Living Ruffled Sheath Dress ($69) which was a fun look alike with a little more ruffle.

Meghan wore a $750 coat from The Line which has been renamed “The Meghan Wrap Coat.” Ralph Lauren has a great look alike wrap coat for $360 at Zappos and $299.99 at Macy’s.

Meghan’s shoes, the Aquazzura Matilde Crisscross Suede 105mm Pump are now sold out, but I found these Metallic Lace-Up D’Orsay Pumps from Charlotte Russe ($23.99) so you can get the look:

To accessorize, Meghan wore Birks Yellow Gold and Opal Stud Earrings for more than $1,000 US. I found two similar styles for you to try for less. The first are the Sorrelli “Pacific Opal” Cushion-Cut Solitaire Stud Earrings ($45) and the second are these Ellie Stud Earrings In Aqua Kyocera Opal from Kendra Scott ($95):

I can’t wait to follow these two as Meghan integrates herself into the royal lifestyle and to see how she brings her own sense of style to the monarchy. What did you think about this look? What designer do you think she will select for her wedding gown?
