The Good Wife “Bond” Recap

You have to admire someone that loses everything after being humiliated and then picks herself back up and starts right back at the bottom. That’s what I love about Alicia (Julianna Marguilles) – the whole show is about she picks herself back up and that is such an admirable quality. Alicia wore a black, collarless jacket to bond court. I found this Calvin Klein Zip-Pocket Collarless Blazer ($77.99) to recreate her look:

The judge in bond court doesn’t want anything to do with Alicia because he’s afraid she’ll slow him down. Just as she’s trying to argue her point and convince him, Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox) shows up and takes her to lunch. He tries to hire her again and she tells him that he’s the devil.

I also have to note how cute Grace (Mackenzie Vega) is stepping in as Alicia’s secretary. Like mother, like daughter. Alicia finally gets a case to work on with a potential $8 million inheritance.

I could NOT believe that Peter (Chris Noth) betrayed Eli (Alan Cumming) the way he did. After everything Eli did for him. That was just shitty. How quickly he forget where he started now that he is relevant again. I did not see that one coming.

Back at Lockhart, Agos, Lee, Cary (Matt Czuchry) is definitely starting to notice that he is surrounded by old people and he longs to go hang out with the associates. Diane (Christine Baranski) and David Lee (Zach Grenier) have taken on the other side of Alicia’s case and are strategizing on how to win. Diane wore a floral Etro blazer. This Michael Kors Printed Soft Blazer ($78) is a similar look for less:

Alicia is still trying to be a bar attorney, but the judge doesn’t want anything to do with her because he thinks she’ll slow him down. She gets a little friendly encouragement from Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo), a new bond court attorney, and the judge gives her a few cases to try out. Alicia wore a Gucci Wool Blazer (sold out). I liked this Red Ultimate Double Weave 24 Inch Jacket ($128) to recreate the look:

Back at the inheritance case, David Lee, Diane and Alicia bring in a bevy of glue and adhesive experts to comically try and resolve which side was to be awarded the $8 million painting. Alicia wore a Printed Tweed Jacket by Narciso Rodriguez ($1,995). This Ivanka Trump Faux Leather Trim Marled Sweater Jacket ($71.40) is similar:

Diane wore a sold out Proenza Schouler Striped Crepe Peplum Jacket (also worn by Kerry Washington on Scandal). I found this similar Kasper Colorblocked Patterned Blazer ($54.99) to recreate the look:

Things got a little crazy after this. Eli decided that he wanted to be Alicia’s chief of staff to really push Ruth Eastman (Margo Martindale) out and get his job back. I really love Eli and Alicia’s relationship. They get each other.

Alicia gets stuck in bond court doing Lucca a favor and can’t make it to her regular hearing. She asks Lucca to step in and get a continuance, but the judge refuses and forces her to participate. Lucca ends up saving the day and the case and Alicia is back in business! Unfortunately, she finds out that Louis Canning fed her this case because he wants to hire her. He tells her that he will stop sending cases her way if she wants, but she doesn’t refuse. My prediction – she will end up working for him this season.

This episode was crazy and I loved every second of it! I can’t wait until the next episode!

Hour Detroit’s Best Dressed Fashion Show

Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets to Hour Detroit’s Best Dressed Fashion Show. Additionally, Hour Magazine is a client of my employer. All opinions expressed are my own.

On September 24, I attended Hour Detroit’s Best Dressed Fashion Show at the Fillmore Detroit and had so much fun! Upon arrival there were fun drinks and appetizers and networking with my fellow bloggers and coworkers. Now, what does one where to a Best Dressed Fashion Show? I’m not going to lie, it was a little intimidating, but I liked what I ended up with.

Hour’s Best Dressed Fashion Show is a fundraiser to benefit the Detroit Institute of Arts’ Founders Junior Council, an organization I’ve been watching for some time. They host really fun and fashionable events for the younger generation interested in the DIA. Somerset Collection also sponsored the event including the fashion show by Neiman Marcus. Prior to the event, Hour awarded 11 people in the local community the title of “Best Dressed.” Each of the awardees has the opportunity to walk the runway as part of the fashion show (How cool is that?). You can see the full list of Best Dressed here. Two of the winners, Kacee Must and Niki Serras talk about their unique looks in the segment below:

Kacee Must is the owner of Citizen Yoga and I have actually taken her yoga class before, so how cool is that? With all of that said, I was pretty excited to arrive at the Fillmore the night of the event.

The Somerset Collection has created a series of short films, one of which was debuted prior to the fashion show. The way this was shot was amazing. On the website, it mentioned that this was for Fall 2014 and it looks like they have a new one for this fall.

Escada Strapless Bustier w/Crystals

I also loved this strapless top. I don’t know if I could pull off the leather leggings, but the top I could definitely see myself in. It’s Escada and you can find it here for $1,995. Feel free to send your Neiman Marcus gift cards my way, lol!

I also had to snap a selfie when I got home because I was obsessed with my new Velour lashes and didn’t want to take them off.

My biggest take away from reading all of the winner profiles were their style tips. Fashion helps them to express themselves and I really want to work on my personal style in the upcoming year. What do I want my clothes to say about me?

Scandal “Yes” Recap

This episode kicked off with Sally (Kate Burton) dropping the affair bomb to the public with photographic proof this time! Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) rushes down to the Oval Office to confront Abby (Darby Stanchfield) and Elizabeth (Portia de Rossi) about what has happened. He is stuck on how the photos were leaked, but it’s too late for that, that pictures are already out there. I liked Elizabeth’s black and white blouse and found this similar Brigitte Bailey Abbey Blouse ($35.99):

So what does Olivia (Kerry Washington) do with this? She runs away to a new case and avoids dealing with the situation. The President decides that he isn’t going to make a statement without Liv so they just stay in a holding pattern letting the media speculate their relationship. Olivia is on the run, on a new case and ends up borrowing Quinn’s (Katie Lowes) clothes. She wore a Free People Hooded Faux Leather Moto Jacket ($168):

Huck (Guillermo Diaz) comes back with Jake’s (Scott Foley) help, but Quinn doesn’t believe that he’s really reformed and tries to push his buttons. Meanwhile, Abby is getting tired of saying nothing during the press briefings and with a little push from Cyrus (Jeff Perry) she decides to take matters into her own hands. Elizabeth is not too happy with this and tries to set her straight, but she can’t handle the President any more than Abby can. Elizabeth wore an Alexander McQueen Pussy Bow Blouse ($1045). I liked this similar Vince Camuto Ruffle Hem Tie Neck Blouse ($89) to recreate the look:

Abby, with David’s (Joshua Malina) help, that Elizabeth is the one who leaked the photos to get back at Mellie and Abby demands that they be equals in order for her to keep that secret. Fitz takes Abby’s advice and apologizes to Mellie and they prepare to do a sit down interview. That is until Olivia drops a bomb of her own.

This episode was so confusing, I don’t understand why she won’t just be with Jake, she obviously has feelings for him. I was blown away at the ending. I can’t believe Olivia admitted being Fitz’s mistress that way! What did you think?

Fall 2015 Favorites

Fall is here and I am ready to embrace it! This is one of my favorite post series and you are welcome to take a look back on my favorites from 2013 and 2014.

I love the Zella brand leggings, they are the perfect fit and stay put during walks and yoga! I am walking Sport every morning and it’s starting to get colder out so these Power Fleece leggings are necessary. They come in black or purple.

Kendra Scott Ellen Drop Earrings in Platinum Drusy ($119.97)

I love the detailing in these earrings.

Shire Plaid Poncho ($38)

Plaid=Fall, but this poncho is extra special. I love how they dressed it up in the photo.

Apothic Dark Wine

I recently reviewed this wine and it is the perfect spooky wine for the season.

Sleeveless Shawl Collar Coat ($180)

You can have a lot of fun styling this with pieces in your closet.

Michael Kors Fulton Large Shoulder Tote ($398)

I’ve been looking for a brown, fall bag and this is just beautiful. Now who has Macy’s coupons for me?

Laundry by Shelli Segal Faux-Leather-Trim Peplum Jacket ($74.99)

I love this jacket and suit from Laundry. The leather detailing makes it perfect for fall and I am obsessed with purple lately.

Sundrenched Vineyard Candle ($22.50)

I am halfway through this candle and just LOVE it! So perfect for fall with the scent of juicy wine.

Michael Kors Saylor Booties ($102.37)

I’ve really wanted a pair of peep toe booties and these are too cute…and on sale!

Scandal “Heavy is the Head” Recap

Scandal is back! I repeat Scandal is back! And so is #Olitz! The episode begins with a little bait and switch with hypocrital Sally Langston (Kate Burton) narrating over an extravagant dinner for the Princess of Caledonia. The best part of Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz’s (Tony Goldwyn) reunion is that we get to see her in formal wear again. She wore a couture Rubin Singer gown from the Fall 2015 collection. This Badgely Mischka Strapless Ruffled Gown ($670) is similar. You can also find it here.

The White House put out an official statement that Mellie (Bellamy Young) is ill, which is a lie that she is not happy about seeing as she is already dressed for the event in a J. Mendel Off-The-Shoulder Lurex Jacquard Gown ($4,900). This Ralph Lauren Off-The-Shoulder Jersey Gown ($190) is a less expensive alternative:

Abby (Darby Stanchfield) also wore a Rubin Singer gown from the Fall 2015 collection. Her scene with Liv talking about the Princess was great. That is totally something that would happen in real life! This Sophie House Prom Dress ($165) hasa similar color palette and feel.

After the ball, Olivia gets a call from the Queen to report the death of the Princess. Olivia arrives on the scene and uses her trench coat to cover the body from paparazzi. This Calvin Klein Double-Breasted Belted Trench Coat ($99.98) is similar:

Olivia pays a visit to the Queen and the Prince and agrees to try to get the photos that were taken of the Princess’ body. She wore a Vivienne Westwood Anglomania Woven Wrap Coat (sold out). This Jessie G. Women’s ‘Anastasia’ Wool Blend Vegan Leather Trim Wrap Coat ($89.99) is similar:

Trying to get the photos back means that Olivia and Quinn (Katie Lowes) have to pay off the paparazzi. Olivia wore this Draped Front Crepe Blouse by Jason Wu ($895) under her coat. This ASOS Drape Front Blouse With Keyhole Detail ($30) is similar:

After they track down all of the paparazzi, except for one, Olivia has the brilliant idea to give them something else to publish, the tragic photo of a husband identifying his wife at the morgue. When Olivia returns to the office, she realizes that the last paparazzi, isn’t a paparazzi at all…She wore an Alexander McQueen Wool Military Jacket ($2,495) and carried the Prada Saffiano Lux Double-Zip Tote ($2,430). To recreate this look I found a Black Long Sleeve Peplum Waist Asymmetric Blazer ($29.43) and Michael Kors Selma Leather Medium Zip Satchel ($298):

Olivia and Quinn crack the case with a little help from David Rosen (Joshua Malina). Fitz won’t agree to help as he doesn’t want to ruin his opportunity for Navy bases so Olivia confronts the Queen herself. She wore a black and white floral print peplum top. I found this Leaf Print Peplum Top ($24.99) to recreate the look:

Olivia discovers that the Queen is behind the Princess’ death, but she can’t do anything about it because of her non-disclosure agreement. She is able to tell the Prince the truth and he makes the Queen abdicate the throne for good. Olivia wore the Celeste Reversible Coat by Max Mara. I found two similar options in the reverse color, the first, this Vince Camuto Oversized Collar Belted Coat ($219) and the second this Forever 21 Belted Wool-Blend Coat ($69.90):

Out of nowhere, Olivia and Fitz are outed by Sally Langston, with photographic evidence…I wonder who was behind that?

Fall Into Fringe

I’m not quite ready for fall yet. I am a firm believer that it doesn’t start until September 23rd, but I have to admit that it’s hard to ignore. My Fall Favorites and Fall Bucket List posts are coming up next week, but I couldn’t resist doing a little fall fashion today. One of the biggest trends for fall is fringe! My personal style is less bohemian and more classic, but there is something fun about fringe.

I’ve selected a few fringe pieces that I want to incorporate into my wardrobe this fall. I can’t wait to get these and share some fun outfit posts with you.

Michael Kors Fringe Hem Cowl Neck Sweater ($89.50)

I think this would be so cute with boots and jeans, now the only problem is figuring out which color to get!

Sole Society Faux Leather Fringe Hobo ($64.95)

This bag wins the case for white after Labor Day. It is stunning!

Karen Kane Fringe Pencil Skirt ($98)

I would wear this one to work, just enough fringe to be stylish.

BaubleBar Tassel Bracelet ($34)

Call it tassels or fringe, this is too cute to pass up.

Hinge Ombré Fringe Cape ($78)

I love that this is ombre! I think the grey is a good pick for fall, but I like the blue too!

Steve Madden Fringly ($99.99)

I love these in the blue suede, but I could go purple suede too. They would be great with a little black dress for a fun night out!

INC International Concepts V-Hem Fringed Tunic Sweater ($58.99)

This would look great with the leggings and boots I already have!

Street Level Suede Fringe Foldover Crossbody Bag ($78)

I LOVE this bag. I’m not sure that it’s totally practical, but I love it. It reminds me of the Prada bag Carrie had on Sex and the City at the premiere of Smith’s play that she had to hold up high the whole time…but it was SO beautiful.

Bongo Women’s Willow Taupe Fringe Western Ankle Boot ($39.99)

These are just enough to be cute and stylish. Some of the fringe boots I saw were a little too much for my tastes.

INC International Concepts Fringe Wrap Cardigan ($59.99)

I would wear this all weekend until spring!

Fringe and ear cuffs combined! I love killing two trends with one stone.

Mistresses “Odd Couples” Recap

This week on Mistresses, Joss (Jess Macallan) makes a new friend in Calista (Jennifer Esposito) and April (Rachelle Aytes) has to deal with the fallout from Paul’s scandal.

April finds out that she has to pay the insurance company back for Paul’s death benefit so she needs a lawyer to help fight the case. As Savi is out of the country and Dom is unavailable, Toni (Rebeka Montoya) fills in. She wore a blue sheath dress. I found this Nine West Cap-Sleeve Ruched Sheath ($49.98) to recreate the look:

Karen (Yunjin Kim) goes through her donation procedure but doesn’t realize how much energy it will take out out of her. She is struggling the next day, but her doctor, and Vivian’s husband Alec (Ed Quinn) makes a house call to take care of her. Karen feels better the next day and heads off to work in a sold out sleeveless H&M dress. This Adrianna Papell Floral and Line Printed Pleated Sheath Dress ($140) is similar:

April is dealing with roommate issues now that Mark (Rob Mayes) is living with her. They seem to work their problems out, except for having to pay back the insurance company. Unfortunately, none of this helps her with Lucy (Corinne Massiah) who is entering the teenage angst phase a little early. April wore the Joie Cantoria Blouse ($195). This Adrianna Papell Floral-Print Crossover Front Hi-Low Top ($99) is similar:

Joss experiences a roller coaster of emotions this episode, with a Calista meltdown and suspicions of Harry (Brett Tucker) showing interest in someone else. That seems to make her more interested because at the end of the episode she pays him a booty call visit wearing the sold out JCrew Foil Striped Tank Top. This Gold Trim Khaki Vest Trim ($35) is similar:

Suits “Denial” Recap

Season five opens with a dream sequence and we see that Harvey (Gabriel Macht) is dealing with Donna (Sarah Rafferty) leaving him. In the dream sequence Jessica is wearing an all white suit. This Calvin Klein Blazer ($64.99) and Pencil Skirt ($54.98) are similar:

Dream Donna wore a sold out Bow Front Cutout Dress by Burberry. This C. Luce Sheath Dress with Bow ($24) is similar:

Donna is determined to be Louis’ (Rick Hoffman) secretary and she throws out all of his other resumes until she can convince him that she means business. I am guessing she wore the Donna Karan Belted Stretch Crepe Dress ($1,495) or something very similar. I found this Express Long Sleeve Surplice Dress ($59.90) to recreate the look:

Harvey is not taking Donna’s abandonment lightly and it seems to be affecting him more than he realizes. Jessica (Gina Torres) confronts him and asks him to close a new deal for the firm. She wore a the sold out Alexander McQueen Tailored Silk Mikado Jacket. I found this Lasting Moments Peplum Jacket Dress ($368) that is similar and you could mix and match the dress and the jacket.

Donna interrupts Louis during his lunch to tell him that she officially starts as his secretary today, which culminates in a weird sexual innuendo banter between them. Donna looks smashing in a black trench. This Calvin Klein Double-Breasted Belted Trench Coat ($99.98) is similar:

As Donna and Louis kick off day two of their new working relationship, he is having a hard time believing that she isn’t going to leave him for Harvey. Donna wore the Cady Dress by Armani Collezioni ($765). This Light Blue Draped V-neck Sleeveless A-line Short Cascade Dress ($110.67) is similar:

Harvey’s worst fears are coming true and Jessica calls him out for not being able to get shit done without Donna. She demands that he get it together or she will. She has on an awesome cape style jacket with fur detail on the sleeves. This fur trimmed cape ($63.99) is similar:

Donna and Louis come up with their own team ritual to solidify the fact that she isn’t going back to Harvey. Donna wore a beautiful dress with rose graphics. This Calvin Klein Floral Knit Sheath Dress ($118) has a similar style:

In the end, Harvey is starting to come around to the fact that Donna isn’t coming back, but he is still dealing with panic attacks. It is really interesting to watch his character deal with this because he is so used to being in control.

Donna buys Rachel (Meghan Markle) Tiffany’s to celebrate her engagement and to thank her for doing all of Harvey’s extra work. Harvey in turn takes Mike (Patrick Adams) to the Nets game…front row.

All is well for now, but this is only the first episode…

2015 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

It’s here! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is upon us and I wanted to give you the lowdown to make the most of it. Right now, the sale is open to Nordstrom card holders until July 17th when it is open to the public. Now don’t worry, you don’t have to get a store credit card, you can get a Nordstrom debit card that hooks up to your bank account sort of like PayPal. It gives you all of the same points and perks that card holders get without racking up a big debt. You can read more about it here. This year’s sale runs until August 3rd, but you want to get your favorite items early in case they sell out.

Here are some of my must haves from this year’s sale:

I have a number of these already, but the glitter ones have been out of stock for a while so I snapped up the multi glitter ones right away. I may also need to take a second pass for the silver glitter pair.

You can always use a new pair of sneakers.

3. Zella Live In Capris (Sale $28.90, Originally $44)

I have a pair of Zella capris and I love them. This is the best time to stock up so I figured I would start with the basic black.

4. Smashbox Studio Pro 10-Piece Brush Set (Sale $89, Originally $225)

What an amazing deal and a great opportunity to refresh your brush set.

5. Michael Kors Slim Runway Crystal Bezel Chronograph Bracelet Watch (Sale $183.90, Originally $275)

The Anniversary Sale is a great time to invest in a Michael Kors watch. Iadded this one because I need a plan silver watch to add to my collection.

6. Kendra Scott Rayne Stone Tassel Pendant Necklace (Sale $52.90, Originally $80)

I’ve wanted one of these for a while and you can’t beat this price!

7. MAC Look in a Box – Fashion Lover Lip Kit (Sale $29.50, Originally $47)

This includes the Flat Out Fabulous color, which is one of my Summer Favorites.

8. Adrianna Papell Scalloped Crepe Sheath Dress (Sale $78.90, Originally $110)

You can never have enough black dresses and I love how this one has a little cap sleeve.

9. Michael Kors Essex Hobo (Sale $218.90, Originally $328)

This bag is a classic, so gorgeous!

10. Kate Spade Avaline Aviator Sunglasses (Sale $109.90, Originally $165)

I sort of love these…who doesn’t need a pair of aviators?

11. Tahari Angelina Zip Collar Leather Moto Jacket (Sale $199.90, Originally $300)

I really wanted a moto jacket last year, but never got one. This is awesome and a great deal.

12. PMD Personal Microderm Device (Sale $106.53, Originally $159)

I’ve been meaning to write a post about the PMD because I LOVE it! I got mine a while back before they had different colors, but I totally would have wanted a pink one!

Mistresses “I’ll Be Watching You” Recap

As we kick off this episode Karen (Yunjin Kim) is learning all of the benefits of living with Joss (Jess Macallan) including her lack of cleanliness. Karen is wearing the Elie Tahari Isabella Dress ($199.99). This Marc New York by Andrew Marc Floral Printed Shift Dress ($59) is similar:

Joss meets our new mistress Calista Raines (Jennifer Esposito) when she steals Joss’ parking spot. Joss wore the Dad’s Shirt by Lacausa ($110). This We The Free Dreamer Tank ($49.95) is similar:

April (Rochelle Aytes) is having a fun time adjusting to Marc (Rob Mayes) and Scotty’s lifestyle. She unfairly judges him and has to go to his trailer to apologize and offer her help. She wore the Free People Raw Linen Drapey Jacket ($82.99):

All throughout the episode Karen keeps getting stood up, first by April then by Joss, so she decides to spend some time with Vivian (Sonja Bennett) during her treatments. Karen wore the sold out Alejandra Snakeskin Print Split Back Silk Blouse by Elie Tahari. This Elie Tahari Kaylee Printed Zip-Front Blouse ($92.26):

Joss teams up with our new mistress Calista to try and catch her husband in the act. Joss doesn’t end up getting the picture because she thought Savi was calling her. Calista tries to help her get past this and learn to let go and live without Savi. Joss is having a hard time with everything especially since she isn’t with Harry (Brett Tucker) at the moment. Joss wore the La Lune Foiled Muscle Tee ($29) while talking on the phone to Harry.

April finally decides to let Scotty and Mark move in with her and Lucy (Corinne Massiah) in hopes that Lucy will finally come around. Everyone is excited, but it doesn’t get Lucy to warm up to her at all.

April and Joss meet Karen for church and I can’t believe Joss tries to eat fried chicken in church!

We end the episode with Calista introducing herself to Harry in sort of questionable way…not sure what she is doing here.
