Wolverines in Texas – Vacation Recap

Over Labor Day weekend, John and I traveled to the great state of Texas to see our Michigan Wolverines take on the Florida Gators in the Advocare Classic. A number of friends came along to cheer on Michigan and we had such a blast so I thought I would share some of the fun highlights.

Our first stop on Friday was a trip to Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine, Texas.

I was surprised to find a winery in Texas because it is so hot, but apparently they have a few regions that mimic the California coast and actually produce some fantastic grapes. They had a nice facility and have been around for more than 20 years. They have a few of the vines onsite and you can walk through them and taste some grapes right off the vine. My friend Chandra (who recently joined us for a guest post) was also on the trip:

After our tasting we were able to purchase bottles and sit outside which was a fun afternoon activity. Safe to say we thoroughly tried a nice selection…

Saturday was game day and we decided to purchase tickets to the official alumni tailgate which turned out to be a great idea mostly because of the air conditioning. It also included food and drink and they had a fun lineup of former players and music to keep it exciting.

The game was so exciting and we won making the whole experience even better. AT&T Stadium is huge!

On Sunday we visited the historic Fort Worth Stockyards.

We did some shopping and were right on time to see the cattle drive.

Of course I found a winery for us to stop in at. Cowtown Winery was the perfect refresher on a HOT day.

We stopped by Cooper’s Old-Time BBQ for all the meats before we hit the rodeo. Make sure to bring your appetite. The Stockyards Rodeo was the main attraction. There were barrel races and all kinds of tricks. At the end they had bull riders and one of them almost got trampled! We thought he broke his ankle, but his boot had just come off. It was intense!

I really needed to invest in a cowboy hat to protect me from that Texas sun. I am not built for that kind of heat! We had a fantastic time in Texas and I wish we could have spent more time exploring. Who knows maybe Michigan will play there again soon.

Five on Friday: College Basketball

March Madness began this week and I hope Michigan goes far this year. I figured I would share a few of my favorites to really share your Wolverine spirit (and I’m sure you could find these in your favorite college colors as well).

I don’t know about you but I like to wear my activewear around the house, so why not wear Michigan yoga pants while watching the game?

I love the burnout look of this shirt!

I liked all the little charms on this necklace.

4. Michigan Hail Yes Shirt ($39.99)

This shirt is so perfect, I love it!

5. University of Michigan NCAA Metallic Body Jewelry ($11.24)

I thought these would be a different take on temporary spirit tattoos.

Friday Favorites: Michigan Football

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Michigan football is back on Saturday! I can’t wait for some tailgating and football watching fun this season!

For my Friday Favorites this week, I wanted to highlight some of the fun Michigan items that have been on my list, but that I haven’t pulled the trigger on yet.

1. toms campus classics ($48)

Toms has come out with a line of shoes specifically for your favorite college team. These would be perfect to wear to a tailgate.

2. Charming Charlies University of Michigan Victory Hour Watch ($22)

This is so girlie and I love it along with the price! They have a number of other schools as well.

3. Dark Blue and Maize Flats ($58)

These would be great to wear to work on a spirit day or for one of the away game parties we will most likely attend this season.

4. Gabriella Rocha Game Day Tank Maxi ($45.99)

I love, love, love this game day maxi dress! They have different styles and colors depending on what school you root for.

5. Blue & Yellow Jersey Infinity Scarf ($18)

I thought this would be fun for a non-traditional tailgate outfit.

5 on Friday: Michigan Edition

I was looking forward to today’s Five on Friday Post with A Liz Adventures, The Good Life Blog, Hello Happiness and Carolina Charm. because I couldn’t wait to do a Michigan edition!

This weekend, I am most excited about Michigan football! My husband and I are going to the first game against Central and we can’t wait to check out the team this year. I’ve purchased a few new items for this season of tailgating and I have a few more that I still want. Here are my top Michigan must-haves:

Michigan Wolverines Ladies Navy Blue Braided Dream Tube Dress ($39.95): I just bought this for Saturday’s game and it should be at my house anytime now. I hope it fits!

University of Michigan Polka Dot Womens Rain Boots ($19.99): I picked these up last year at Meijer. They are perfect for those rainy, muddy games!

DaynaU University of Michigan Kukui Nut Necklace ($19.95): I got mine when we went to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl a couple years back and I think it brings good luck.

Coach Madison Wristlet ($48): When you go to a game at the Big House you can’t bring anything in with you, except for a tiny little wristlet, so you have to get a cute one. This style is new and will fit in perfectly with the fall trends.

Michigan Wolverines Temporary Tattoos ($3.95): I LOVE showing my spirit at tailgates and I always have some sort of face tattoo at every game. I can’t wait to get all decked out on Saturday!
