I’m not going to lie…I’m watching a lot of TV now that my foot is broken. What else is there to do when you have to stay off your feet? I have seen a ton of commercials for ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween, which I have always wanted to get into. Here is the lineup for this year.
I’m a little bummed that I don’t get to decorate my house this year because of my injury, but I can still get in the spirit so I decided to make my own 13 Nights of Halloween list. Keep in mind that I am a scaredy cat, so my list is pretty tame:
1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
This is just a classic.
2. Hocus Pocus
I remember watching this movie around Halloween with my sister. It’s just a fun family movie for everyone.
3. Scream
This was such a big movie when I was in high school and I think one of the first of the teen dramas that were popular in the 90s. It is still pretty scary.
4. The Addams Family
This is another one I remember watching with my sister. A lot of good fun – I haven’t seen this movie in years!
5. Beetlejuice
This was not necessarily my favorite movie, but my sister LOVED this movie. I can’t count how many time she made me watch it, so I had to add it to the list.
6. Young Frankenstein
I think this movie is hilarious. If you haven’t seen it-watch it immediately…I mean right now! If I only had to pick one movie this would be it.
7. Psycho
This is the original scary movie and so creepy!
8. I Know What You Did Last Summer
I mostly chose this movie because I love Sarah Michelle Gellar and it’s classic 90’s.
9. The Grudge
This is all Sarah Michelle Gellar, but I remember seeing this in the theatre and being so creeped out on my way home, thinking that thing was going to be in my back window the whole time. I don’t even want to post this picture it is creeping me out.
10. The Hitcher
I think this might be one of the scariest movies I have ever seen. Now I’m not much for scary movies so take that as you will, but I felt like this was more scary because it was more realistic than some other movies. The creepy way he says “Candy Cane” – I wish I could include my sound effects here while I am writing this because it is giving me the heebie jeebies just writing it.
11. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
I have always wanted to see this live on Halloween and do all the fun audience participation moves. Call me weird, but I pretty much know all the lyrics to all of the songs in this movie.
12. Clue
I really want to have a Clue-themed, murder mystery, Halloween party one year – I would be Miss Scarlet of course.
13. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
This was the movie that started my Buffy obsession. I remember watching this movie in the 5th grade and a boy in my class would re-enact the scene where Paul Reubens died and I thought it was the funniest thing ever.
I also have to give an honorable mention to The Amityville Horror – it is worth watching just for Ryan Reynold’s abs.
In the interest of getting into the Halloween spirit, I’m doing another giveaway with Kim from Small Moments. She is offering up 25 Halloween invites (check them out here) or 25 custom Thanksgiving party invites.
