Bachelor 19 – Week 4 Recap

Week 4 kicks off with a visit from Chris Harrison where we learn that there are two group dates and a one-on-one date that will be decided by Chris’ three sisters. The first group date card is for Megan, Kaitlyn, Ashley S., Ashley I. Juelia, Samantha, Mackenzie, and Kelsey and reads “Let’s do what feels natural…” Chris takes them to hang out at the lake so he can see how they react to being in nature. Some of the girls get really natural and do some skinny dipping (if you read Chris’ blog post he mentions that they were playing Truth or Dare).

Back at the mansion, Chris’ sisters arrive to meet the remaining ladies and decide who gets to go on the one-on-one date. Not surprisingly, Britt tells them that she feels like the frontrunner. Their time with Jade seems to go well so it isn’t surprising that she ultimately gets selected for the date.

Meanwhile, at the lake, Chris reveals that they are going to camp for the night, which doesn’t excite anyone.

The one-on-one date card arrives for Jade and reads “Your presence is requested at a royal ball tomorrow evening from 8 p.m. until the last stroke of midnight. It’s a secret, the prince doesn’t know you are coming.” The date ends up being a complete promo for the Cinderella movie, but this is the traditional Pretty Woman date.

Kaitlyn gets a lot of alone time with Chris on the date and wears a sold-out H&M leather sleeve shirt. This Bungalow 20 Gray Long Sleeve Sweater With Vegan Leather Detail ($49):

leather sweaterChris also has some time with Ashley S. who is either drunk or looney toons, but that doesn’t stop Chris from letting her kiss him. Ashley I. tries to tell Chris that she’s a virgin, but fails miserably. It’s no wonder that Kaitlyn gets the rose…it was slim pickings on this date.

The girls congregate while Jade gets the royal treatment for her one-on-one princess date. Ashley couldn’t be more upset that she isn’t the one going on this date. She gets her pick of dresses and shoes for this date. She gets a pair of Christian Louboutin Debout Glitter & PVC Red Sole Pumps that she gets to keep! As well as a pair of Neil Lane earrings to take home. Forget the guy…where do I sign up. I found these similar Gianvito Rossi Clear PVC Metallic Foil Suede Pumps ($825) in case you want a pair of your own:

cinderella shoesAshley I. is so distraught over this date that she decides to get dressed up in her own Sherri Hill princess dress ($268).

sherri hillChris and Jade have a lovely date and from a Cinderella perspective it was really romantic, especially the way he kissed her at the end of the dance. Whew! That bachelor is smooth! I feel bad for him when he discovers the truth about Jade, I think he will be really surprised. No surprise, Jade gets the rose on this date and is safe for next week.

The next group date card arrives for Nikki, Jillian, Whitney, Carly, Britt and Becca and says “Let’s get dirty.” There are also some gifts that accompany the date card. They turn out to be six beautiful wedding dresses, but they have no idea what they’re doing yet. Unfortunately for them, Chris takes them to MuckFest MS where they are going to get down and dirty. A twist is thrown in…the winner of the race gets to have a one-one-one date later in the evening with Chris.

Shocker…Jillian wins the race and gets the one-on-one. She then proceeds to have the most awkward date ever with Chris. It is so obvious that they have no chemistry. She has no idea what she wants to do with her life. Chris ends the date and sends her home.

On to the rose ceremony the girls are happy that Jillian was sent home, but it sort of hits home that things are getting serious now. Kaitlyn wears the Stella & Dot Rory Necklace ($59):

stella and dot roryAshley I. ends up wearing her Sherri Hill dress again and finally comes out and tells Chris that she is a virgin. Carly has the best line of the night when she says that Ashley’s mouth isn’t a virgin…I spit out my drink at that one, bahahaha. After Ashley spills her secret she is upset when Chris doesn’t kiss her and thinks that he is freaked out. Mackenzie tries to console her and has the cutest Stella & Dot Pave Spear Earrings ($49):

Stella and dot pave spearBritt decides to confront Chris about her jealousy and is really manipulative about him giving Kaitlyn multiple roses. Wow – she was super insecure here and questioning his decisions is probably not the best way to build their relationship. Chris had a really awkward response and just left the conversation without kissing her. He lets the women know that if anyone is questioning his decisions they can leave immediately. Of course nobody does leave. At the rose ceremony Ashley S. wore Stella & Dot’s Chantilly Lace Chandelier Earrings ($49):

stella and dot chantilly laceThe earrings don’t save her and Chris ends up sending Ashley S., Nikki, and Juelia home. Goodbye to crazy Ashley – we barely knew you and never understood you.

Drama, drama and more drama this week – what did you think about this craziness?

Here are a few deleted scenes from this week’s episode:

The first scene is of Chris reuniting with his three sisters:

This scene is more craziness from Ashley S.:

In the next scene Chris and Whitney get some one-on-one time and they reenact a moment from last week’s date:

Bachelor 19 – Week 3 Recap

So I’m not going to lie, I haven’t been very impressed with The Bachelor fashion this season, I may not have a ton to post this week as I’m only going to share what I really liked. What I did like was Jimmy Kimmel on The Bachelor…I hope they do this every season, it was great!

Chris’ genuine reaction to getting woken up by Jimmy was great and then greeting the girls was hilarious. I love when the show pokes fun at itself. Becca is a big fan of Jimmy and can’t wait to see what he comes up with this week. I loved her Stella & Dot Somervell Necklace ($59):

stella and dot somervell

Jimmy had the honor of bringing the first date card for Kaitlyn and reads “You and Chris are about to join an exclusive club, sweeping views, vaulted ceilings and unlimited hors d’oeuvres await.” This turns out to be Costco where Jimmy has provided a list of activities that Kaitlyn and Chris need to complete. They make the most out of it and are gearing up to cook dinner for Jimmy later that evening. The part that gets me again is why Kaitlyn would wear the reddest lipstick on a date where she hopes to kiss someone. I don’t get it. They had a great dinner complete with some awkward conversations about the fantasy suite. In the end Kaitlyn gets the rose and is safe until next week.

Back at the house, the next date card arrives for Britt, Jillian, Becca, Tracy, Mackenzie, Kelsey, Amber, Ashley S., Juelia, Samantha, Nikki and Carly and says “Are you ready to meet some real party animals?” Jillian is pretty pumped for this date and keeping in classy in her Stay Classy Tank Top ($55) and Stella & Dot Cassady Collar Necklace ($79):

stay classy

This date is sort of a farming obstacle course to practice “farm living” to see who could hack it in Iowa with Chris. Part of the challenge involves drinking goat’s milk which Carly is allergic to. They also have to shuck corn, milk a goat and wrestle a pig which should make for interesting television. I hated Samantha’s outfit, but I did love her Stella & Dot Callie Necklace ($98). I don’t know why people are trying to bring overalls back…please stop.

stella and dot callie

It ended up being a pretty entertaining competition and against all odds Carly was the winner. She had some confidence after that and put herself in the game by kissing Chris. He really likes to kiss, which Mackenzie didn’t understand. See when you’re the bachelor it means you get to make out with at least 25 women. I’m not sure what part of that she doesn’t understand. Becca takes a stand and basically tells Chris that he has to earn a kiss from her. I’m sure that only made him like her more. Case in point – he gives Becca the rose. This obviously upset Carly.

Back at the ranch, the next date card comes for Whitney and reads “The date is going to be fun…no whining.” She wore an Urban Outfitters Ecote Patterned Intarsia Open-Front Cardigan (sold out). I found this similar Bar III Long-Sleeve Aztec-Print Cardigan ($44.99):

urban outfittersDuring their date Chris and Whitney head to a winery and really hit it off. They have a great conversation and you can definitely see the chemistry developing between them. They see a wedding happening and Whitney suggests that they crash it. I think he definitely likes how spontaneous she is. They pretend that they are engaged (which I’m sure Whitney was thrilled about) and head off to change into more appropriate wedding attire. I liked Whitney’s black and white leather colorblock dress. I didn’t find anything similar, so I selected this Nicole Miller Sleeveless Cutout Colorblock Sheath Dress ($39.99) to recreate the look:

colorblock leather

You can tell this is the moment where they fell in love, just the way he was talking about her, it is obvious he is smitten. Of course he gave her the rose.

Jimmy Kimmel throws a wrench into the format with a pool party in place of the cocktail party. Juelia uses this time to talk about her husband. This was really uncomfortable to watch and such a sad story. Chris was very respectful though. It sounded like she was still dealing with a lot and I can understand if Chris didn’t want to pursue this further. I’m not sure she would be ready for a long-term relationship at this point.

Britt and Jade take the opportunity to connect with Chris. Jade went in for the kill asking him for a tour of his house. BTW – what was she wearing? Those heels were sort of odd for a pool party and her bathing suit looked more like lingerie (which is probably why they cued the porn star music). Jillian on the other hand moved up the totem pole by waiting for Chris in his hot tub. I can’t believe Ashley, Megan and Mackenzie just left Jillian alone with Chris – their mistake for thinking that any of this was supposed to be fair. Then it was her mistake again to use her alone time with Chris to cry and talk about the other girls.

He made her sweat it out at the rose ceremony but ultimately sent home Trina, Tracy and Amber which made sense because I could barely remember their names.

At this point I would say that Whitney, Britt and Becca might be the front runners, but we will see what happens next week.

Here is a deleted scene that didn’t make it into the episode where Jimmy and Chris dish about Kaitlyn:

Bachelor 19 – Week 2 Recap

Week Two of The Bachelor picks up where we left off with the rose ceremony. Kimberly appeals to Chris to give her a second chance and he does (his first mistake). This sets a bad tone with the ladies.

After a few hours of getting settled, Chris Harrison arrives to give the ladies the lay of the land and the first date card. It was a group date for Jade, Tandra, Ashley I., Mackenzie, Kimberly and Tara get to “Show me your country…” with Chris.

The group date kicks off with a pool party, followed by a tractor race throughout downtown L.A. I liked Tara’s Victoria’s Secret Colorblock Bandeau ($22.50):

tara colorblock

I wasn’t a big fan of the girls having to streetwalk in their bikinis to the second part of the date for a tractor race. They weren’t allowed to put on their cover ups? Ashley I. wins the tractor race and gets to spend some one-on-one time with Chris, but is upset when Mackenzie ends up getting the rose and an evening date with Chris. Their date was SO awkward and she even tells him that he has a big nose…who does that? I didn’t see any chemistry here and don’t see that going far at all. She does also reveal that she has a son.

Back at the mansion, Juelia reveals that she has a daughter and that her husband committed suicide (such a sad story). The next date card comes for Megan and reads “Love is a natural wonder.” Megan didn’t realize that she was actually getting a one-on-one date, she thought it was a love note…

Megan and Chris take a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon. Their date was okay, they seemed to connect over the story of her father’s passing and Chris gave her the rose.

In the meantime, the next group date card comes for Kelsey, Trina, Alissa, Tracy, Jillian, Becca, Amber, Ashley S., Juelia, Kaitlyn and Britt and reads “Till death do us part.”

The girls go on a group zombie-hunting date in what Ashley S. calls the Mesa Verde. The highlight of this date was watching Ashley pretty much lose her mind. I’m not sure what was going on there. Things between Chris and Britt heat up, but it is Kaitlyn who gets the group date rose. I don’t understand how Chris was making out with these girls and their bright lipcolor. My husband wouldn’t have any of that – I think if you are going on a first couple of dates I wouldn’t wear that sort of lipcolor that might be a kissing barrier. Don’t get me wrong, I love lipstick, but it’s not so conducive to making out.

A few things about Britt – she has amazing hair – whatever she is doing, I would like to bottle it. I also liked her turquoise drop earrings. I found these similar earrings on Etsy for $26.85:

Britt turquoise

At the rose ceremony Whitney did a great job creating a special moment with Chris and she got him a bottle of his favorite whiskey. I loved this because that is totally something I would do. She looked great in her Stop Staring! Gathered Ava One Shoulder Dress ($163):

Whitney Stop Staring

The most disturbing part of the episode was when Ashley I. reveals that she is a virgin and Mackenzie is so jealous because “guys LOVE taking a girl’s virginity.” What is she smoking? Also, what is Ashley I. wearing? It didn’t get any better when she allowed Chris to make three wishes on her belly button ring. He seemed to like it because they had the weirdest makeout session where she pretty much ate his face.

Amber had a cute Gold Lang Syne Dress (sold out) that helped her snag a kiss with Chris. This Open Back Short Black and Gold Sequin Dress with Sleeves ($32.95) is similar:

Amber modcloth

Poor Jillian almost took a spill when Chris called Juelia’s name – so embarrassing – but she handled it well. I also liked Becca’s lace dress and found this V Neck Lace Bodycon Dress in Wine Red ($34.99):

becca lace

Alissa, Jordan, Kimberly and Tara didn’t receive roses. Tara took it hard, but she looked great in her sold-out Cache Pleated Halter Gown. This Bisou Bisou® Sleeveless Chain-Neck Pleated Maxi Dress ($47.99) is similar:

Tara Cache

Next week Jimmy Kimmel is coming to The Bachelor which will make for an interesting show.

Here is a deleted scene that didn’t make it into the episode:

Jordan hosts a “sunflower” ceremony:

The Bachelor 19 – Week 1 Recap

The Bachelor is back!!! I am very happy that I get to kick off viewing parties again with my friend Tracy!

This season ABC decided to have a live red carpet premiere and I didn’t hate it. I read a lot of mixed feelings about the red carpet, but in my opinion three hours is more wine time. I wasn’t thrilled with the fashion choices on night one, but the Bachelor/Bachelorette alum gave me much more to work with in the pre-show. So thumbs up for the red carpet.

First up – meet Chris or “Prince Farming” as we are calling him this season. I really liked Chris during Andi’s season of The Bachelorette and am looking forward to seeing how he does as The Bachelor. It will be interesting to see who he ultimately ends up with (I already know since I read Reality Steve) and to see if it works out in the middle-of-nowhere Iowa.

Let’s talk about some of my favorite looks from the red carpet. First up is my favorite, Michelle Money.  UPDATE: Michelle posted on Instagram that she rented her dress from Rent the Runway and it is the Badgley Mischka Curves for Days Gown ($170). I found two different dress options to recreate her look. The first, a $29.95 find from Sexy Dresses – this “Sabrina” Black Long Strapless Mermaid Evening Dress. The second is this Nicole Miller Felix Techy Crepe Strapless Gown ($365). I found a few different necklaces that are similar to the one Michelle was rocking from H&M (not available). This first is this Circle Bib Necklace by Panacea ($58), the second is this Tiered Baguette Stone Bib Necklace from Express ($49.90) and the third is the Tallulah Bib Necklace ($138) from Stella & Dot:

michelle money look

Michelle was wearing the Pink Velvet lipstick from Lime Crime Makeup ($20).

I loved Clare Crawley’s look. Her BCBGMAXAZRIA Locket of Lace Gown is classic. You can rent it for $125 at Rent the Runway. If you want a dress for your very own, I found this similar Tadashi Shoji Colorblock Lace Bodice Ruched Gown ($418):

Clare Crawley

Chris Harrison interviews the former Bachelor/Bachelorette couples including Catherine/Sean, Lacy/Marcus and Andi/Josh. So we all know now that Andi and Josh ended their relationship shortly after this aired. Reality Steve called this one for a while and it doesn’t surprise me. I wanted her to pick Nick last season – I never thought that Josh was as into her as Nick was. But you never really know. I loved Andi’s dress, which she made on the plane!

Andi Dorfman

I found this similar James & Joy Poncho Dress ($54.40):

poncho dress

I thought Nikki Ferrell did a great job of keeping it classy on the red carpet. She didn’t say anything negative about her breakup with Juan Pablo and I respect her for that. She looked amazing though – there were a lot of articles about her new boobs, but if I just got new boobs I would have probably shown them off too. I have two dress options to recreate her look – a Zac Posen Tanya Knit BodyCon Dress ($490) and a Charlotte Russe Plunging BodyCon Dress with Slit ($24.99). She also wore the Showgirl Fringe Crystal Strand Necklace ($54).

Nikki Ferrell

Now onto the show!

They really focused on Chris’ background as a farmer and I think this was important for the audience to know that he needs to find a girl that will fit in with his lifestyle in Iowa. I have a feeling that some of the women we will see this season won’t want to move to middle-of-nowhere Iowa and be a farmer’s wife.

The Bachelor Night 1

Here are a few notable looks from the first night:

Britt Nilsson, 27, Waitress from Hollywood, CA

I thought Britt was cute and apparently so did Chris because he gave her the first kiss and the first impression rose! She mentioned on her Instagram page that her dress was less than $100 and her lipstick was from the drugstore. I found a similar look with this XSCAPE Gemstone Embellished Gown ($229):

Britt

Whitney Bischoff, 29, Fertility Nurse, Chicago, IL

Whitney has a classic look, with a bubbly personality. I love that she is a fertility nurse. She seems very genuine, which is abnormal for The Bachelor. I liked her little black dress here and found this similar Sleeveless Mesh Iconic Black Sheath Dress from White House Black Market ($160):

Whitney Bischoff

Amber James, 29, Bartender, Chicago, IL

I wasn’t too swayed by Amber one way or the other, but I liked her Rebecca Taylor Frayed Strapless Gown (sold out). You can rent this similar Rebecca Taylor Meteor Shower Gown for $70 and I also liked this Erin Fetherston Gisele Metallic Spotted Sweetheart Gown ($148.75):

Amber James

Tara Edding, 26, Sport Fishing Enthusiast, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

When I first watched the show, I thought it was sort of weird that Chris kept Tara after she got drunk the first night. After watching her one-on-one time with Chris in the deleted scene below, it is pretty obvious that she received a bad edit and the show played up her antics. It makes a lot more sense why Chris kept her after seeing that. She looked smokin in her little black dress! This American Apparel Cotton Spandex Jersey Double U-Neck Long Sleeve Mini Dress ($44) is similar:

Tara Eddings

Becca Tilley, 25, Chiropractic Assistant, San Diego, CA

Becca was very welcoming and seems sweet, I’m sure she will go far. I thought this Warehouse Scatter Sequin Dress ($104.23) was similar to the dress Becca wore.

Becca TilleyTandra Steiner, 30, Executive Assistant, Sandy, UT

I loved Tandra’s motorcycle entrance. It didn’t hurt that she looked fabulous! This Jovani Lace Gown W/ Deep V Illusion ($710) is similar:

Tandra

The cocktail party was interesting, mostly because Chris ended up kissing Britt and giving her the first impression rose. I think that might be a first – a kiss on the first night! Obviously, Britt will be the girl to watch out for.

At the rose ceremony Amanda, Bo, Brittany, Kara, Michelle, Nicole, Reegan and Kimberly did not receive a rose and were sent home. Except that Kimberly decided to pull another Bachelor first and didn’t want to leave. They left it as a cliffhanger so we will see what happens next week.

Here are some additional deleted scenes that didn’t make it into the episode:

This is an extra introduction scene with Chris at the Iowa State Fair:

This deleted scene had me puzzled as we see more of Ashley S. weird behavior:

In this scene, Kaitlin raps about her childhood:

This deleted scene shows Tara talking to Chris about fishing and giving him a gift – it explains why he kept her:

I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends

If you’re a fan of The Bachelor or Bachelorette, you may have heard of Season 16 winner, Courtney Robertson. I was one of those people that didn’t like Courtney after watching Ben Flajnik’s season and was skeptical of her authenticity. Well, she recently wrote a book, I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain, and if you are a Bachelor fan this is a must read!

courtney robertson

My friend Tracy bought this book and let me borrow it and I couldn’t put it down! It definitely changed my opinion of Courtney and gave me a lot of insight into the show. Plus she divulges great secrets and behind-the-scenes tidbits.

courtney 2

During the first part of the book, she writes her memoirs up to this point and shares details about her previous relationships with Jesse Metcalfe, Adrian Grenier and her one and only date with Jim Toth. This was a great way to start, because you get to know her and get an idea of where she was at in life when she went on The Bachelor.

Some of the highlights of the book include:

  • Her real-time updates of what happened after the final rose ceremony after the cameras stopped rolling.

Ben-and-Courtney2

  • How she got into modeling – she wasn’t always the confident girl you may have thought she was on TV.
  • Tips from past Bachelor contestants including Jaclyn Schwartz, Kalon McMahon, AshLee Frazier, Casey Shteamer, Graham Bunn, Michelle Money, Chris Bukowski and Arie Luyendyk.
  • Behind-the-scenes details of The Bachelor casting process.
  • What the girls were really like in the house and a day in the life of a contestant.
  • Her revelation that, yes, she did have sex in the ocean with Ben.
  • What really happened in the fantasy suite.
  • What is was like after the show stopped filming, before they went public.
  • What Courtney and Ben’s relationship was really like and personal emails between them.
  • Details of her relationship with hottie and potential future Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk.

arie

My favorite part of the book, was on page 202, where she writes “He left to do a wine tasting event in Detroit but we would see each other in a week to tape ‘After the Final Rose.’ I was so excited. We were just two weeks away from coming out publicly as a couple.”

This is my favorite part because I was at that wine event in Detroit and I met Ben Flajnik and bought some of his Envolve wine. The event was held at Mon Jin Lau and they posted some photos from the event here. This was right before the finale, so I was too nervous to actually get a picture with him, but I did have him sign my wine bottles, which Tracy and I drank during the finale.

This is my best picture of Ben while we were waiting in line to meet him (again, horrible photo, but I felt weird taking pictures like a stalker):

I saved the wine bottles with his signature for posterity, lol:

The Bachelor – Week 5 Recap

Good Morning Vietnam!!!!

Juan Pablo and the 11 remaining ladies jet off to Vietnam as we begin Week 5 of this “amazing journey.”

Renee gets the first one-on-one this week with a date card that reads “Are we the right fit?”

Renee and JP rent bicycles in Hoi An and spend some time shopping. Juan Pablo gets her fitted for a traditional Vietnamese dress and they have a great night together. I think Renee is my favorite from the season, she is so sweet and down-to-earth. It becomes more obvious every week that she could do so much better than Juan Pablo. JP still refuses to kiss her and she seems okay with it. Despite the fact that he obviously isn’t that into her, Renee still gets the rose.

1897934_10151891875363053_2120574919_n

Back at the hotel, the group date card arrives for Kat, Clare, Cassandra, Danielle, Alli, Andi, Sharleen, Chelsie and Kelly. It reads “Can you go with the flow?”

They girls meet Juan Pablo for a boat ride down the river in a Vietnamese boat. The boats only fit two people each and since Clare didn’t have a teammate she got to ride with JP. So after he doesn’t kiss Renee last night (because of Camila) he has no problem making out with Clare on the group date.

Kelly and the rest of the ladies aren’t happy that JP is basically having another one-on-one date with Clare right in front of them. She wore the Stella & Dot On the Mark Necklace ($59):

Kelly necklace

They stopped for lunch at Tra Que Village and to do some work on the farm…not really my idea of a vacation. Sharleen wore the Stella & Dot Maya Pendant ($39):

Sharleen necklace

At the cocktail party jealousy is flying as JP asks Clare for the first alone time of the evening. Andi is really put off by this, along with the rest of the girls. Andi wore a pink maxi dress and the Pave Duo Necklace ($32) from BaubleBar. This Go Jane Coral Maxi Dress ($28) is similar:

pink dress

Clare is on a high with Juan Pablo, he has paid her special attention and even invited her back to his private suite for a swim. She wore a bright blue maxi dress with her trademark Believe necklace (see Week 2). This Maxi Tank Dress ($69.99) from The Limited is similar:

Blue maxi

Sharleen’s up next and she wants JP to see her as a panda in a room full of brown bears. Unfortunately, I think that might be a little too deep for him. She is also great at rocking the backless dress, this black and white striped one is fabulous. This Stripe Maxi Dress ($141) by Eight Sixty is a great match:

black maxi dress

Kelly wore an Alexis Bittar Spear Necklace ($155) and deep purple maxi dress. This Royal Grapevine Dress ($48) is similar:

purple dress

Much to the dismay of the other women, Clare gets the group date rose, but that doesn’t stop her from continuing her group date high. She sneaks out of the hotel to meet up with Juan Pablo. They end up having a very steamy swim in the ocean. There was a lot of controversy around this and I don’t think they had sex in the water. You can read Clare’s People interview on the topic here.

Previous contestants and even Reality Steve doesn’t think that they did it in the ocean. As I’m writing this we are at the end of the season so I think it doesn’t really matter anymore – she obviously slept with him at some point, so does it matter if it was in the ocean or in the fantasy suite. I think Clare was on a high on this date, this was probably the peak of her journey on the show and she went for it…I can’t blame her for that. Everything he did on that date led her to think that her attention was warranted. In this situation, JP is the textbook definition of leading someone on.

Nikki gets the final date card that reads “Let’s have a hell of a good time.” Juan Pablo gives Nikki her surprise, which is rappelling down into a cave called “Hell.” She is terrified, but totally impressed me with her courage. I would not have done that date, but she didn’t go back and forth about it. This is the best I’ve seen Juan Pablo so far, he was very supportive of Nikki and genuinely helped her overcome her fear.

Until he tells her that he didn’t sleep well last night – which we all know is because he stayed up late with Clare. They end up having a great conversation and JP gives her the rose.

At the cocktail party, JP sets the tone by telling the women that he plans to let three people go. Andi is insecure about where she fits in, so JP distracts her with besitos (kisses). She wore the sold-out Naven Heartthrob Dress. This Amanda Uprichard Madison Tulip-Skirt Dress ($77.35) is similar:

Naven dress

Renee finally gets her kiss from Juan Pablo and their relationships finally seems to be moving forward. At this point I wasn’t sure if they had waited too long and she would get stuck in the friend zone. She wore a soldout Gianni Bini Becca Strapless Colorblock Dress. I found this BCBGMAXAZRIA Kira One Shoulder Colorblock Dress ($186.99) this provides a similar style:

Then things totally blew up when Juan Pablo decided to take back his ocean rendezvous with Clare and tell her that he made a mistake. I really don’t understand what the point of this was. There was no problem and he had to make a problem. In my opinion this was the beginning of the decline of their relationship. She wore the sold-out Nightcap Belize Victorian Lace Dress in Hot Orange. This Ellen Tracy Women’s Cap Sleeve Belted Lace Dress ($42.33) was the closest I could find to match this look:

At the end of the day Juan Pablo sends Danielle, Kelly and Alli home. Juan Pablo seemed really upset about it at this ceremony. He was actually more upset than the girls.

Next week the ladies and JP are off to New Zealand!

For this week’s deleted scenes we have Sharleen and Juan Pablo talking about their must-have qualities in a significant other:

The second clip is Juan Pablo and Kat talking about The Bachelor experience:

For the last video we get to hear what Clare really thinks of Nikki:

The Bachelor – Week 4 Recap

This week on The Bachelor, the ladies and Juan Pablo travel to Seoul, South Korea. Chris Harrison kicks it off, letting us know that there are only 13 girls left.

Once the ladies arrive in Seoul, there is a group date card waiting for Elise, Danielle, Cassandra, Kat, Chelsie and Nikki that reads “Pop.” Nikki is less than thrilled to be going on a group date and her attitude permeates the entire date.

For the date, Juan Pablo and the ladies get to be backup dancers for one of the top Korean Pop (KPOP) groups, 2NE1. Kat is thrilled to be on this date, because she’s been a dancer her whole life. Nikki again is not thrilled because she is a terrible dancer.

The song turns out to be pretty catchy and most everyone has a great time (minus Nikki). At that evening’s cocktail party, Kat really opens up to JP. She wears an orange body con dress. I found a similar tangelo Gemma Knit Sweater dress from BCBGMAXAZRIA ($79.99):

Screen Shot 2014-03-03 at 3.12.41 PM

Elise makes a rookie mistake and starts her time out by talking about the other girls. Never use your one-on-one time to talk about other girls. She looked great in her blue lace dress though! It looks like it was the Nicole Miller Fair Lady Dress, which you can rent for $40 on Rent the Runway:

Screen Shot 2014-03-03 at 3.21.23 PM

The ladies weren’t happy when Nikki ended up receiving the rose. Juan Pablo seems to really like her, much to everyone else’s dismay.

Back at the hotel, the one-on-one date card arrives for Sharleen and says “Will you be my Seoul mate?” Clare wears the Forever 21 Free Spirit Natural Stone Necklace ($10.80) and has a weird edit from a few weeks ago wearing the white sparkly top, which was probably taped then and shown now. There are probably a ton of those, but I just noticed that one because I remembered the top.

Screen Shot 2014-03-03 at 3.30.24 PM

Insert gratuitous shower seen with JP as he gets ready for his date with Sharleen. They explore the streets of Seoul together, try some weird food and then have a weird conversation at a traditional Korean tea room. The only thing I can figure about these two is opposites attract. They just don’t seem to fit together, but she keeps coming back for more.

During the evening portion of their date, JP convinces Sharleen to sing for him which I think makes him like her even more. This girl is a mystery to him and he can’t get enough of her. She wears a sexy black lace dress – I found a similar Eliza J Ruched Lace Dress ($158):

Screen Shot 2014-03-04 at 10.24.54 PM

At dinner, Sharleen reveals that she really hasn’t thought about kids and that she isn’t too excited about the idea of having to raise someone else’s child. Despite that revelation, JP still gives her the rose. Whatever she is doing it is working for JP.

The next group date card arrives for Renee, Andi, Alli, Clare, Lauren and Kelly. It says “Let’s get Krazy in Korea.” The girls kick off the date at a karaoke house, followed by paddleboating. Then they all are treated to fish pedicures, which is sort of a weird date activity, but when in Rome…

Juan Pablo cannot contain his excitement about making Clare try octopus, he has been waiting the entire date to spring this on her. She eventually tries it, but after a lot of dramatics. JP seemed to love it and was proud that she tried something new.

The evening portion of the date was interesting as JP decided that he didn’t want to kiss anyone because he didn’t want his daughter to see him kissing 27 different women. Renee was the first one to get turned down. Girlfriend is just too nice, she needs to go for it already. Then Lauren was up next, she tried to kiss him and his reaction was to say “I have a daughter.” This is where I got really annoyed with JP. He keeps using Camila as an excuse for not kissing someone, but it is obvious that he just doesn’t want to kiss the girls he doesn’t like. I wish he would just be honest and not kiss them instead of using Camila.

He has no problem kissing Clare on this date, but she is mad when Andi receives the group date rose instead of her.

The rose ceremony was held at an ancient Korean palace which was pretty cool. Right at the start, Sharleen lets us know that all of the girls have agreed if they already have a rose they won’t interrupt other girls’ time with Juan Pablo. This is the perfect intro to Nikki interrupting Clare’s along time with JP.

Clare wears a sold-out Bebe leatherette keyhole tank dress. I found a similar dress from Shani ($280):

Screen Shot 2014-03-04 at 11.21.33 PM

Kelly wears a sold-out BCBGMAXAZRIA One-Shoulder Sequin dress. There are a number available here on eBay.

Screen Shot 2014-03-05 at 12.20.03 AM

Kat wore a black sequin Rebecca Minkoff off-shoulder sequin dress ($295). You can also find the gold version here:

Screen Shot 2014-03-05 at 12.31.18 AM

Lauren and Elise were sent home this week, which was probably for the best as Elise was the worst dressed at the rose ceremony. What was she wearing?

Next week the ladies travel to Vietnam with Juan Pablo.

For this week’s deleted scenes, we start with JP talking about their first international trip:

The next deleted scene shows Clare, Renee and Kelly talking about Nikki’s personality:

The last deleted scene shows Juan Pablo’s first deliberation with Chris Harrison. It’s sort of obvious here that he is really into Nikki:

The Bachelor – Sean and Catherine’s Wedding

We started week four with Sean and Catherine’s wedding. I love this part of The Bachelor, mostly because it doesn’t happen that often. I love watching the event come together and I am just a sucker for romance and weddings. This wedding was a little different from all of the other ones because it was live, something they’ve never done before.

The wedding was held at The Four Seasons Biltmore Resort in Santa Barbara.

FourSeasons.com

The backdrop, set design and flowers were so beautiful!

Screen Shot 2014-03-01 at 9.31.30 PM

I didn’t really get the whole “Grown Sexy” theme. I would have described it more as feminine and elegant, but to each their own. The ceremony was incredible, Sean’s dad was the perfect officiant. I give props to everyone for saying their own vows, I don’t think I could have done that, I was so emotional on my wedding day, so I have to respect anyone that can get the words out.

To check out more behind the scenes details, check out Shay Shull’s blog (Sean’s sister) here.

The wedding was planned by Mindy Weiss with flowers by Mark’s Garden (who also did Gwen Stefani’s wedding).

Catherine wore a strapless lace fit-and-flare gown from Monique Lhuiller’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Her 12 bridesmaids also wore pink dresses from Monique Lhuillier. Sean wore a tuxedo from Dolce & Gabbana:

The bridesmaids wore heels from Sole Society. I did some research and found that they got to pick from a few different Sole Society heels, the Kella, Dar, Kasha or Kelly designs from Sole Society. My favorites are the sold-out Kella cap toe pump. I found a similar pair from Victoria’s Secret ($39.99):

Screen Shot 2014-03-01 at 10.10.45 PM

Catherine received a pair of Swarovski crystal-encrusted custom flats by Yosi Samra for the reception. These Footzyfolds Crystal Ballet Flats ($115) from QVC are similar. You could also get the plain bronze crackled Yosi Samra flats for $66:

The ladies received a balance bracelet by Dogeared ($78) and Trellis hoop earrings by Sole Society ($22.95).

The bridesmaids also received monogrammed LeSportsac totes filled with lots of goodies including Minimergency kits from Pinch Provisions ($16), custom created, white Bri Seeley scarves, mini boom boxes from Kinivo (&18.99), Modify watches ($45), Bel Fiore Cupcake Frosting Hair Ties ($10) , Joey New York Quick Result Beauty Kit ($36) and Kixies thigh highs.

The bride used the Je T’AIME Heart Card from Sugar Paper Stationary ($6) to write thank you notes to all of the bridesmaids:

On November 13th, Catherine posted on Twitter that she was getting her bridesmaids The Stella & Dot Together Forever Necklace ($59). This necklace totally reminds of the Girl Scouts Make New Friends song, where it says “Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other’s gold.” This is such a perfect gift for bridesmaids!

n901gs_1_1Sean and Catherine had custom designed rose gold wedding bands from Neil Lane.

The Bachelor – Week 3 Recap

Week Three of The Bachelor kicked off with the Bachelor Love Stories special, which included Trista & Ryan’s vow renewal. I loved watching Trista and Ryan – this was so touching and made me think of my own marriage. I can’t wait to look back when we’ve made it to 10 years!

I LOVED Trista’s dress for her vow renewal, it was stunning! The silver sequined dress was designed by Pavoni from Spring/Summer 2013.

Picture from Trista's personal Instagram page

I was looking for a similar dress, but ended up finding this dress by Patra ($199) that I thought would work well for a vow renewal:

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 6.35.48 PM

Now onto Week Three with Juan Pablo…

The episode kicks off with Chris Harrison bringing the first date card. What was up with his two-tone shirt? I couldn’t decide if I loved it or hated it. Cassandra gets the one-on-one date – her card reads “Love is a wild ride.” They kick off the date by hopping into a Jeep-like car and in true Chitty Chitty Bang Bang style they drive it right into the water! It’s a water car! Who knew?!

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 8.03.11 PM

Cassandra ends up getting a kiss on this date pretty quickly…I guess Camila wasn’t watching this episode…I find it funny that he won’t kiss Renee out of respect for her son, but he has no problem playing tonsil hockey with Cassandra who also has a son. Hmmmmmmm…

For the second part of the date, they go back to Juan Pablo’s place for dinner. They have some dinner, do a little dancing and seem to have a good time. JP gives Cassandra the rose, keeping her around for another week.

Back at the mansion the second date card arrives for Kelly, Renee, Sharleen, Danielle, Alli, Lauren, Andi, Kristie, Lucy and Nikki that says “Let’s kick it.”

They meet up at a soccer stadium so JP can show the girls his soccer moves.

822x

The girls break into teams to play for more time with Juan Pablo. I think the red team won the game but it wasn’t really clear. Juan Pablo decided to take everyone back to the cocktail party to spend some extra time together.

Nikki gets some along time with JP and they seem to have a good conversation. He must really like her, because he didn’t even kiss her and she ended up getting the group date rose. This surprised me because he got pretty hot and heavy with Andi in the kitchen.

They start cueing up the drama back at the mansion and Elise thinks Chelsie is too young and immature to get the next one-on-one date with JP. I find this funny because if you read Reality Steve’s column you can see the nice adult video that Elise has under her belt. But no-no Chelsie is the one that isn’t mom material…go figure. So of course Chelsie gets the final one-on-one date card which reads “Chelsie – do you trust me? -Juan Pablo.”

Sharleen gets some extra special alone time with Juan Pablo on the middle of the soccer field. This would have been fine, but they had sort of an awkward looking first kiss that all of the other girls saw. That always seems to raise tension and puts a target on Sharleen’s back. I don’t know what to think of these two, their conversations always seem awkward and disjointed – I don’t really see the attraction. Also – Sharleen has some great lipstick because it did not move a bit during those kisses! I checked out Sharleen’s Twitter account and she mentioned it was the Cream Lip Stain by Sephora in Always Red ($13). Sharleen’s backless white dress is super sexy. This lace mini Jump dress ($99) is similar:

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 9.04.57 PM

Chelsie gets ready for her one-on-one with JP, much to Elise’s dismay. I like Chelsie, she seems super fun and laid-back. They begin their date with some car dancing followed by an authentic Venezuelan meal. He then takes her to go bungee jumping off a bridge. This seems a little odd to do after eating, but to each their own. Chelsie isn’t sure if she wants to take the leap with JP, but she ends up doing it in the end and they have a great kiss hanging upside down. If this was me I would have told Juan Pablo to take a hike – thanks for the memories – I’m outta here! I never understand that, but it happens every season, they always convince someone to do something that they are afraid of with a complete stranger. I am pretty confident that I wouldn’t even bungee jump with my husband so what makes someone do it with a complete stranger?

For the second part of their date, Chelsie and Juan Pablo have a dinner at City Hall in Pasadena. That was a beautiful setting. I also have to commend Chelsie for not using the word “amazing” and changing it up with “epic.” He gives Chelsie the rose and the two of them are then treated to a private concert by Billy Currington. Chelsie wore a white and black colorblock dress. I found a similar dress from Kensie ($79):

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 9.42.20 PM

The next day, Juan Pablo sneaks in to make the girls a traditional Venezuelan breakfast so he can surprise them and see them with no makeup on. Kelly discovers him first because she has to let Molly outside. Renee just goes for it and starts helping him cook. He announces to the girls that instead of a cocktail party, they are going to hang out all day and have a pool party.

Kat monopolized Juan Pablo for most of the pool party annoying the other girls. I think she was smart, considering she didn’t have a date this week. This especially upset Sharleen and Clare. Sharleen got upset and opened up to JP about it. She got a kiss out of it so that worked for her.

Clare got really jealous and had to be talked out of the bathroom by Renee.

In the end, we make it to the rose ceremony and Christie and Lucy get eliminated. It’s too bad for Lucy, because she looks the best she ever did at this rose ceremony in her Herve Leger Metallic Bandage Dress ($1350). This BCBG MaxAzria Dress ($183.20) is similar:

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 10.30.54 PM

I also liked Kat’s embellished one-shoulder dress from Shoshanna. I found a similar Calvin Klein Beaded Dress ($86.99):

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 10.56.09 PM

For this week’s deleted scenes, we forgot about Lucy’s birthday – but Juan Pablo had a special surprise for her:

The Bachelor – Week Two Recap

Week Two of The Bachelor is here! Sunday began with a Behind-the-Scenes special of Monday night’s episode. There wasn’t anything too crazy, but I thought it was cool to see how they set up some of these awesome dates.

Chris Harrison and Juan Pablo crashed some Bachelor viewing parties and it puts my two-person viewing party to shame. Maybe I’ll work on something bigger for the finale. I did feel bad for that poor girl Avery they interviewed at the end who said that The Bachelor shows that love and happiness do really happen. I had to laugh because while I think those things are true, I don’t know if I would use this show as an example of that.

We learn right away that Clare is going to get the first one-on-one Winter Wonderland date. Juan Pablo got to take his daughter, Camila to play in the Winter Wonderland before his date with Clare, which was really sweet. On the drive there Camila mentioned that she likes surprise chocolate (me too Camila…).

The second part of the special showed the women moving into the Bachelor mansion and then we get to see what happened to the women who didn’t get a rose. Sean and Catherine visit Juan to give him some advice (and to promote their upcoming wedding). Then Chris Harrison comes out to explain how the show works for anyone who didn’t know. I LOVED Clare’s white sequin tank! She mentioned on Twitter that her necklace says “Creer” which is the Spanish word for Believe and that it is the Gold Bar necklace by James Michelle ($58). She also has amazing hair – I have hair envy. I also found a similar white sequin tank top from One Hip Mom ($36):

Screen Shot 2014-02-01 at 5.38.20 PM

Clare gets the first one-on-one date – the date card reads “Clare – Let’s Chill – Juan Pablo.”

We also get to take an in-depth look at the women who create all the drama in tonight’s episode, Victoria, Lucy, Elise, Amy and Clare. Could Lucy please keep her clothes on for one episode. Spraying herself with the hose was just ridiculous…did we really need to see this ABC? Clare has a touching DVD that her father made before he died for her husband to watch. I hope that she doesn’t show this video to Juan Pablo, but you know that the producers are going to try to ask her show it to him at some point this season.

Now, on to our dates…

Juan Pablo drops by the mansion to pick up Clare for the first one-on-one date. She wears a great sold-out IRO shearling leather jacket. Neiman Marcus has a similar jacket for $395:

Shearling Jacket

JP blindfolds Clare and takes her to the Winter Wonderland – hot tub included! Clare opens up to JP and tells him about her father passing away. She also mentioned why she keeps her necklace – to remind her that there is something out there. It doesn’t take much for JP to give her the rose. Clare sort of reminds me of AshLee Frazier – I feel like she is going to get her heart broken just because she is falling so hard so fast. To close the date, they get a private concert by Josh Krajcik (not sure who he is, but the Internet says he was on the X-Factor). She also gets the first kiss from Juan Pablo.

clare date

Back at the house, the second date card comes and reads “Kat – I can feel the electricity – Juan Pablo.” JP picks her up and they jet off in a private plane to Salt Lake City for the Electric Run. For having no idea what she was doing I have to commend Kat for jumping right in and going with the flow. I thought this was a great first date for someone like Kat. Kat gets the rose on this date, so she is safe for next week.

juan-pablo-1-600

The group date card came for Chelsie, Christie, Kelly, Cassandra, Andi, Renee, Lauren, Alli, Chantal, Nikki, Elise, Victoria, Lucy and it reads “Say Cheese – Juan Pablo.”

The girls arrived at a warehouse for a photo shot for Models & Mutts to raise money for the Best Friends Animal Society. This means that they are all going to have to dress in awkward costumes that they aren’t comfortable with – but with dogs. Elise and Andi are told that they are going to be naked for their photo shoot. I felt bad for them until I read Reality Steve and found out that Elise isn’t really a first grade teacher and she pretty much takes her clothes off all the time (see the link at the bottom of this post to read more about that at Reality Steve). I was impressed that she traded her outfit with Lucy though – that was a genius idea.

822x

According to Andi’s Twitter she wore nude undergarments for her part of the naked photo shoot.

After the photo shoot they move on to the after party at the Watermarke Tower in LA. Cassandra gets some one-on-one time with JP and we discover that she’s a Michigan girl! She also is Rodney Stuckey’s baby mama (for those of you that aren’t from MI he plays for the Pistons) and she is 21 (so young!).

Then the drama begins with Nikki pulling Victoria aside to tell her that she is drunk and needs to slow down. Well – my if my sorority days have taught me anything it is that the more you tell a drunk girl to cool down, the more defiant and drunk she is going to get. She ends up having a meltdown and Renee decides to try to reason with her, but we all know how that turns out.

Kelly ends up getting the group date rose, probably because she had to wear the worst costume during the photo shoot.

The producers get Victoria a hotel room for the night so she can sleep it off. Juan Pablo comes to see her the next morning and she goes home.

Moving on to the cocktail ceremony, Juan Pablo gets to spend some more time with Sharleen, who looked awesome in her Haute Hippie draped dress and Jessica Matrasko Natasha earrings ($195). I found a similar Vince Camuto Dress for $64.99:

Screen Shot 2014-02-01 at 8.14.45 PM

I really like Sharleen, I have the feeling that the producers wouldn’t get her to do anything she wasn’t comfortable with. It makes me wonder why she came on this show – maybe she thought it would be good for her career or something.

Cassandra is feeling uncertain about JP’s feelings for her. He reassures her that as soon as he doesn’t feel it he will send her home because she has a son to get back to. My favorites from the cocktail party were Cassandra’s earrings – I LOVED them! I sent her a tweet to ask her where they were from and surprise – they are from Cache! They don’t seem to have them in stock anymore, but I will continue to scour eBay because I want them for myself. I did find this similar pair from Max & Chloe ($125):

Screen Shot 2014-02-01 at 8.42.47 PM

I also liked Andi’s Parker magenta tiered dress. It was sold-out so I found this Laundry by Shelli Segal tiered dress ($69.99) that is similar:

Parker Dress

I also liked Chelsie’s light blue lace mini dress. I found a similar Kay Unger Metallic Sheath Dress ($450) to recreate it:

Kay Unger

At the rose ceremony, Amy L. and Chantal don’t receive roses this week and were sent home.

There were some great deleted scenes of Kat’s date with Juan Pablo – apparently they went on a picnic before they went to the Electric Run.

I enjoy reading Bachelor spoilers and if you are interested in finding out what happens in advance you can check out Reality Steve for more information. He also has great behind the scenes details on which cast-offs are dating and who is going take the final rose this season.
