Mimosas Made Me Do It

Disclosure: I received complimentary products for review from Prep Obsessed. All opinions are 100% my own.

I first learned about Prep Obsessed through an ad on Facebook for their Mimosas Made Me Do It shirt. After a little investigation, I learned that they had some AMAZING stuff. After I mentioned them in a few posts here and here they sent me some of my favorites to review.

Mimosas shirt

You can get my new favorite shirt here, as well as the Molly Pearl Bauble Necklace. And yes, as you can see it was snowing in the picture…in April. But that did not stop us from brunching!

I also received the Pineapple Pearl Pop Studs and cannot wait to wear them!

Pineapple Pop

As an added bonus I got these adorable pineapple studs, which are not available online. If you can’t tell, I sort of LOVE pineapples, which Prep Obsessed has in spades.

I also thought I would share a few additional things that have caught my eye:

Booze Decanter ($54)

I LOVE this! We are working on a little bar area and a decanter would look lovely in our dining room.

Booze Decanter

It’s Handled Tee ($38)

As you all know, I’m a big Scandal fan. This would be the perfect shirt to wear on Shonda Thursdays!

It's Handled Tee

Monogrammed Sun Hat ($28.95)

I love the look of a black floppy sunhat and a classic one piece. Getting the hat monogrammed takes it up a notch. It’s so classy, I love it!

Sun hat

Pink Parade Cozy Fleece Blanket ($24.95)

I love elephants and I love hot pink so this blanket is the perfect combination.

Bachelor 20 – Women Tell All Recap

Who’s ready for some catfights?! The Women Tell All and After the Final Rose are my favorite fashion episodes because it serves as a second chance for all the women. After watching themselves on TV for 11 weeks, all the women come back fully coiffed and smokin hot to confront their “ex.”

Ben and Chris Harrison kick off this week with visits to some Bachelor viewing parties. I don’t understand Bachelor fantasy leagues. I am a spoiler reader and they are so readily available it is almost silly to pretend like you don’t cheat…especially if money is involved.

Let’s get down to fashion business:

Leah wore the Lacie Dress from Ritual Boutique ($72):

Becca wore the Parker Kimono Romper ($167.20). You can get it here in silver for $418. Parker has this similar Vicky Embellished Romper for $297:

Parker

Haley wore the Oh My Love Great Pretender Velvet Cutout Dress from Nasty Gal ($57.40) and Kendra Scott’s Jordan Open Pinch Ring ($75). They have some additional colors and sizes in blue and black.

Nasty Gal

Emily wore a Sherri Hill Cap Sleeve Short Black Bandage Dress ($480), Stella & Dot Bianca Earrings ($39), and the Kendra Scott Signature Naomi 3 Stone Double Ring in Black Drusy & Gunmetal ($130):

Sherri Hill

Olivia wore the Zimmermann Crepe Harness Jumpsuit ($420) with the Alexis Bittar Miss Havisham Pendant Necklace ($59.99). This Ralph Lauren Sable Wide-Leg Jumpsuit ($298) is a similar look for less:

Lauren H. wore the Lacey Dress ($59):

Jennifer wore the Keziah Dress from the Misha Collection ($220) and the Scorpio Drop Earrings from BaubleBar ($32). This Bardot Halter Mesh Dress ($90) is similar:

Amanda wore a For Love & Lemons Gianna Crop Top ($171) and Gianna Mini Skirt ($167):

For Love and Lemons Gianna

I can definitely say that this was the most uncomfortable Women Tell All ever. I was uncomfortable watching it. I never understand why people get super crazy about women treating this like a competition. As they say “All’s fair in love and war.”

What did you think about the Women Tell All?

If you missed this episode you can still watch it here.

Bachelor 20 – Week 9 Recap

It’s Week 9…bring on the fantasy suites!

Since things are heating up, we kick off the week with some long stares and statements about how Jamaica is a beautiful place to fall in love. Lauren and JoJo are in sync in their Victoria’s Secret Robes. Lauren’s is the Satin Kimono in Blue Water ($49.50):

Kimono Wrap

JoJo’s Satin Kimono ($59.50) is a little different with lace cut outs on the shoulders.

Satin Kimono

Caila was up first and the date got off to a bumpy start. She also wore a bathing suit crop top as and outfit…although if I had her abs, I would wear that every day. Unfortunately, I can only help you with the swimsuit, not the abs. Caila wore the Billabong Gypsy Dreamin’ Crop Halter Bikini Top ($54.95) with a Madewell Mini Geochain Necklace ($30):

Billabong

Lauren’s date is up next and if it’s possible she may have worn even less than Caila. I absolutely could not pull off those shorts so I won’t even try. They did have the cutest date helping to send baby turtles into the wild. Before they headed off to the fantasy suite, Lauren told Ben that she loved him and SURPRISE! he said it back! Let’s just wrap it up right there people…

Last but not least, JoJo looked smokin’ hot in her Indah Sisi Bikini Top. I was floored when Ben told JoJo that he also loved her (WHAT?)!!! Her specific color is no longer available, but you can get it here in black for $55:

Indah

I am stunned that Ben just went out there and said the “L” word to two women. Somebody is truly going to get hurt, which is sad. After watching this episode, it’s obvious who that will be. I loved JoJo’s evening maxi dress, the Ecote Deluxe Daisy Maxi Dress from Urban Outfitters. It’s in pounds so about $100 US. This BB Dakota Larissa Black and White Floral Print Maxi Dress ($99) is somewhat similar:

Urban Outfitters Maxi

Once in the fantasy suite, JoJo pulls out another rockin’ bikini look with with Vitamin A Swimwear Kylie Triangle Top ($59.99):

Vitamin A Swimwear

Caila stops to surprise Ben and he ends up setting her home. Caila seems surprised, but I think she is better off in the end.  She wore the same Billabong Gypsy Dreamin’ Crop Halter Bikini Top ($54.95) which is reversible and a sold out Bay View Skirt from Athleta. They also make a similar Pura Vida Midi Skirt ($54):

Athleta

At the least dramatic rose ceremony, both women get roses and we are left to wonder how Ben can actually be in love with two women. JoJo is looking amazing in her Bebe Deep V Midi Dress ($129)! Since her pattern is no longer available I found this additional ASOS Deep Plunge Rose Midi Scuba Body-Conscious Dress ($68) that has the same floral feel:
Bebe

Lauren arrives and also surprises Chris Harrison by telling him that Ben is in love with her too! I’m not sure if he knew that before the girls showed up, but the audience was definitely surprised. Lauren wore the High Tide Maxi from Blue Life ($154):

High Tide Maxi

There you have it…our final two ladies!

What did you think about Week 9? Next week will be fashion packed with the Women Tell All!

Tips for Wearing the Trendiest Spring Looks

Spring fashion is upon us, which usually means showing a little more skin in order to beat the heat. Shorts, rompers, crop tops, tank tops, and other styles are usually wildly popular during this time, and there’s no reason why curvy women can’t partake in the latest trends, too. Not only can plus size women rock these styles with a few helpful tips on accessorizing and flattering your figure, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to let your confidence shine. Below I’ve provided a few ideas on how to wear these trends that I hope you’ll enjoy and find useful as the temperatures begin to rise.

WomanWithin

A pair of nice shorts should be a staple in every woman’s spring wardrobe. Not only are they versatile, as they can be dressed up or dressed down, but they look sophisticated and classy, too. Choose a nautical-inspired pair, or opt for something loose and scalloped for a feminine look. Whatever you pick, wearing your shorts with a pair of wedges or even the slightest of heels doesn’t have to be awkward, according to BuzzFeed, and they will help elongate your legs.

Rompers, like shorts, can also be paired with heels, but they look just as great with lace-up sandals. The typical cut of a romper is usually loose and forgiving, no matter your size, and can be easily accessorized to flatter your figure. Pair with a statement necklace if you want to draw the eye up to your bust and face, or pair with a wide belt to accentuate your hourglass figure. Complement your romper with a cardigan for cool spring nights and continue to experiment with layers until you get the look just right.

Woman Within’s goal is to “make it easy for you to love what you wear,” and tank tops are definitely topping that list. It’s all about feeling comfortable, and there are many ways to achieve this thanks to layering techniques. If you’d rather not bare your arms, then look for a short sleeve shrug or cardigan to top your tank. Or maybe you’re concerned about your waist or tummy area, which can actually be solved by tucking tanks into high-waisted bottoms, like jeans, shorts, and one of our favorites—a billowing maxi skirt.

And let’s not forget about the crop top. StyleCaster shares how curvy chicks and any body shape can rock a crop top. High-waisted skirts, shorts, and pants are any crop-top wearer’s best friend because it’s just not cool to even show your navel anymore. Keep in mind that the tummy sliver is the latest trend and can be achieved with a crop top off the shelf, or by making your own by knotting a T-shirt you already own.

The important thing to remember is that the way many of these trends are actually worn has changed drastically since they first emerged. No longer does the crop top get paired with super-low rise jeans like we saw in the ’90s. Today, many of the most sought-after crop tops only show a hint of belly, making the look much more modest. Shorts no longer have to put your cheeks on display in order to be in style, and rompers are the best thing since sliced bread, as far as effortless chic is concerned, so why hesitate? I say wear what you love and enjoy the process, no matter your size!

March 2016 Pinspired

I used to participate in a fun linkup called Pinspired, where you recreate a look you found on Pinterest. This was one of my favorite monthly posts to write so I decided that I would start it up again. Here is a fun look I found on Pinterest that I would love to wear for spring. Now don’t get me wrong, I definitely wouldn’t wear a crop top to work, but I definitely loved the pop of color and kept coming back to this image. Here is the original Pin.

Fashion 101

I found a similar style skirt first that I will use to style the rest of the outfit around. Because this skirt has a few colors, we could change up the top to create a few different looks. The skirt I found is a Pencil Skirt from Charter Club for $59.50:

Charter Club Skirt

I found two different color blouses to compliment this skirt, so you decide which color is your favorite. Or get both for a completely different look. The first is this Vince Camuto Wrap Front V-Neck Blouse in Guava Fruit ($79) and the second is this Target Women’s Short Sleeve V-Neck Blouse in Bright Purple ($44.99):

Blouse

Next up are the bags. I also wanted to have fun with the colors on this, figuring you could mix it up. I found this Valentino Bag in Violet ($299.99) and this Kate Spade Cedar Street – Maise Satchel in Flo Geranium ($223.50):

satchels

For the shoes, I found these fun Nine West Sweet as Pie T-Strap Sandals ($89):

PG.SWEETASPIEX5.JJ158A1.PZ

I felt like I also needed to add a pump style shoe since I would probably wear this outfit to work and strappy sandals aren’t really work appropriate. I like these Nine West Tornaydo Pointy Toe Pumps ($89):

PG.NWTORNAYDO.JJ3JESY.PZ

I am thrilled with this look! I can’t wait to get all the pieces and rock this look in the office. I absolutely LOVE the bright colors.

2016 Capsule Collection Part 1

I thought about writing a post about wardrobe staples for a while and it was just a few days ago that I discovered this concept actually had a name. A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don’t go out of fashion, such as skirts, trousers, and coats, which can be augmented with seasonal pieces. The term was coined by Susie Fauz in the 1970s, who owned a London boutique called Wardrobe.

I figured I would share with you my personal capsule collection for 2016. Some of these are pieces that I aspire to have and that would make wonderful additions to my wardrobe. I love investing in timeless pieces and a capsule collection is the perfect way to really think about what pieces you are missing and need to invest in. I am working on a second edition with my accessory goals. Here are the top pieces in my 2016 capsule collection:

1. Tory Burch Simone Cardigan ($225)

I first saw this piece on a friend of mine and fell in love. Every woman needs a black cardigan – it is versatile over a dress, tank or with jeans. The gold buttons on this piece dress it up. I am in desperate need of a new one for my wardrobe and think this would be a great investment piece.

Simone Cardigan

2. The Ashton Blouse ($34.96)

The Limited has great classic pieces. A white silk blouse is a must have. I will say that these blouses are sometimes difficult to keep in pristine condition. They snag or get random stains, so this price point is perfect because you can just replace it.

Ashton Blouse

3. Ralph Lauren Cap-Sleeve Jersey Dress ($89.98)

You should always have a little black dress on hand for any occasion. I purchased this one last year and it is perfect to dress up or dress down. You could throw a blazer or sweater on it for something more casual or you could dress it up with sparkly jewelry for a wedding.

Ralph Lauren black dress4. Calvin Klein One-Button Blazer ($139.50)

A black blazer is similar to a cardigan. If you work in a professional setting it can take you from casual Friday to meeting in a flash. It also allows you to wear all those sleeveless dresses to work. I probably need about five more to add to my closet. I like the cut of this one because I could wear a cowl neck blouse with it or a statement necklace.

Calvin Klein

5. Cowl Neck Top ($148)

This top could go with any of the above pieces. I love these blouses with a suit because I hate wearing a long-sleeve blouse under a blazer.

Cowl Neck

6. Calvin Klein Trench Coat ($129.90)

I love this trench. It comes in black, tan and blue and I could see myself getting one in every color.

Calvin Klein Trench

7. Kasper Cascade Skirt ($58.99)

Instead of a simple pencil skirt, I liked how this was a little different with the ruffle.

Kasper Cascade Skirt

8. Pop of Color Dress ($89.98)

I can’t say enough about this Ralph Lauren dress. I have this in three different colors I love it so much. Everyone usually says to get a wrap dress, but this is seriously the most flattering dress ever. I like to stalk it on eBay for different colors. I do have it in this green color as well as blue and a pattern. It has a lining on the inside so it looks really clean and hides a multitude of flaws.

Ralph Lauren Green Dress

9. Moto Jacket ($117.99)

I have been dying for a moto jacket for a long time. It really takes a Friday night look from good to great!

Moto Jacket

10. JCrew Cashmere Sweater ($188)

Cashmere is classic and this JCrew version comes in every color. I am jamming on the bright blue color at the moment.

Cashmere Sweater

11. Modern Boot Pants ($59.95)

These are my go-to work pants. I have them in every color. I do need to get them hemmed.

Modern Boot Pant

12. Jersey Maxi Dress ($68)

As soon as it warms up I pretty much live in my black maxi dress. So much so that I definitely need a back up or one in every color. The key is to make sure it is a mixed material, I don’t want a straight cotton dress. It is worth it to hem it if it is too long if you like the fit.

Jersey Maxi

13. Perfect Boot Jeans ($69.95)

I love the Gap for pants. These are my favorite jeans and you can never have enough in all colors!

Perfect Boot Jeans

14. Gold Collar Halter Top ($34.50)

Every girl needs a go-to top for a girl’s night out. I love the simplicity of this one.

Gold Halter Top

15. Silk Pajamas ($94.80)

You can’t put a price on a good night’s sleep and these Nordstrom silk pajamas are luxurious at a great price!

Silk Pajamas

I will probably add to this list as I think of other staples that are must-haves this year. I would also love to know if you have any suggestions.

Five on Friday: All that Glitters is Gold

I’ve been in the market for a new gold clutch as my current one is way too small for an evening out. I found the perfect one and it inspired me to do a post around my recent gold favorites. I used to only wear silver and gold has really been making a comeback in my wardrobe.

1. Michael Kors Daria Foldover Clutch ($198)

This is the clutch – it’s so cute and would definitely fit my phone.

Daria clutch

2. Gold Plated Tassel Earrings ($24)

I love these tassel earrings made by my friend Rana from Salame Jewelry Designs.

Gold tassel earrings

3. Kendra Scott Erica Bracelet ($75)

I LOVE this bracelet. It is so elegant.

Kendra Scott Erica

4. Badgley Mischka Alter II Pump ($158.98)

I love Badgley Mischka shoes (I wore them for my wedding) and these are the perfect dressy gold pumps.

Badgley Mischka

5. Pineapple Pearl Pop Studs ($19.95)

I LOVE these! I love pineapple stuff and these are just the perfect mix of elegant and fun.
