5 on Friday: Crutch Free Edition

It’s time for another edition of Five on Friday with A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life BlogHello Happiness and Carolina Charm.

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG1. Guns + Butter

I recently wrote about my experience with Guns + Butter during Detroit Restaurant Week – you can read more about it here. Well guess what? I got an email around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night offering more seatings for Guns + Butter. They are hosting dinners on October 25, 26, 30 and November 1 and 2. Chef Craig Lieckfelt is opening up his personal test kitchen for these special seatings. If you are interested in getting on the waiting list, you can email reservations@gbdetroit.com.

I am treating my husband to one of these special dinners as a thank you for taking care of me with my broken foot for the past month.

GB122. CastCoverZ

I got good news at my doctor’s appointment on Wednesday. My foot is healing nicely and I don’t have to use crutches anymore!! I do have to continue wearing my walking boot for another two weeks, but I can put weight on it and start walking around normally. Thank goodness! The timing is funny because I was just about to decorate my crutches with colored tape. I did discover CastCoverZ and last week my special crutch pads arrived. These were great because the pads were starting to wear down on my crutches and hurt my hands. I wish I would have discovered this site before, because you can order colored crutches and all sorts of accessories.

I got the black trellis pads (I didn’t get the bag just the pads) and I love them. They are so easy to put on and take off which is great if you want to wash them. I decided to go with something a little more professional since I had to take them to work and to teach.

3. Kate Spade Toast Flats

I saw these the other day and thought they would be perfect for holiday parties if I can’t get back in heels yet.

canvas4. Clinique Eye for Colour

Lord & Taylor is hosting a special Clinique event: Eye for Colour to learn about their new eyeshadows. You can make an appointment at your nearest Lord & Taylor store through November 3rd.

Just for attending you get a 10-day supply of Clinique’s Happy Perfume Spray mini and your choice of Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcting Eye Cream mini or All About Eyes mini. Also, don’t forget that the Clinique bonus at Macy’s is still running through October 27th.

Forget the fox! I am all about pigs over here! I love, love, love piggies and I decided I had to have this sweater when I stumbled across it earlier this week on Bluefly. What’s not to love? It’s cashmere and adorable!

3. Badgley Mischka Floral Cloche Hat ($42)

I found this hat while looking for something else last night and thought it was darling. I need to buy it and wear it all winter, the color just pops!

4. Stella and Dot Bahari Necklace

This is the perfect necklace to wear on Michigan game days. Funny story – I saw one of our local TV anchors wearing it after last week’s game and I liked it so much I decided to tweet her and ask her where she got it. I was thrilled when she said it was Stella and Dot. Unfortunately, this necklace is sold out on the Stella and Dot website, but I have tracked down a number of them on eBay.

5. Side Way Cross Necklace ($25)

I was so excited when I got my Ily Couture Side Way Cross Necklace on sale. I wore it a number of times…and then I lost it. I can’t seem to find it anywhere, so I am thinking about just buying another one (which is probably the fastest way to find the old one). It annoys me to have to buy something twice, but I really want to wear it again.

5 on Friday: Eat, Blog, Love

It’s time for another edition of Five on Friday with A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life BlogHello Happiness and Carolina Charm.

I have a random group of things to talk about this week, but all things I am loving at the moment.

1. Small Moments Giveaway

I am running the Small Moments Giveaway (read more here) and you have until September 30th to enter. It is easy and free to enter here (a Rafflecopter giveaway). The giveaway includes an 8×10 “Love is” letterpress print and 12 of the Sweet Like Candy cards.:

2. Eat Blog Love Notepad ($23)

I first saw this on the Keep Calm and Carry On blog and LOVED it! I am currently writing all my ideas on my notes app on my phone and I think this would be super cute.

3. Marlyn Schiff Elephant Cuff ($34)

I just stumbled upon this surfing the net and think it is adorable. I must have it!

4. Booksfree

I feel like I came up with this idea long before I ever found this site and one day I looked and it was there! Booksfree is sort of like Netflix for books. You pay a monthly subscription fee for one to two books to come to your house at a time. You can keep them as long as you want, so no overdue library fines and no more paying for books that you don’t end up liking. I currently have Committed: A Love Story by Elizabeth Gilbert, the sequel to Eat, Pray, Love and Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks. I have a work trip coming up and can’t wait to start reading these on the plane. If you love to read like I do, I highly recommend Booksfree.

5. Prabal Gurung Nolita Heels

I finally got my Prabal Gurung for Target Nolita heels. I wore them yesterday and got so many compliments. They are going to be perfect for fall! I had been eyeing them for a long time and finally got them on eBay. As you know most of the Target collaborations sell out the first day, but people put them up on eBay right away. Click here to search for your size on eBay. I got the matching clutch too!

5 on Friday: Loved Me Back to Life

It’s time for another edition of Five on Friday with A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life BlogHello Happiness and Carolina Charm.

5 on Friday Logo - Final

I didn’t have a specific theme this week, but there are a few things that I have been loving this week and needed to share with you.

1. Celine Dion’s new single “Loved Me Back to Life”

Celine Dion

I may have mentioned before that I am a HUGE Celine Dion fan. I have seen her in concert three times (twice in Vegas and once here in Michigan) and she is amazing. I remember how starstruck I was the first time I saw her in concert, she has the most beautiful voice and she is a great performer. I couldn’t wait to hear her newest single and have already preordered her new album on iTunes, which comes out on November 5th.

 2. Wen Fall Apple Spice Cleansing Conditioner ($29)

Wen Fall Apple Spice

Wen Fall Apple Spice

Chaz Dean has released a limited edition Fall Apple Spice Cleansing Conditioner on QVC. I can’t wait to get mine and try it out! Click here to read my post about the Wen Cleansing Conditioners if you’ve never tried it before.

3. Starbucks Refreshers

Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher

Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher

I am not a coffee drinker, I don’t like the taste or flavor of any coffee products. I also don’t like tea or soda, so this limits the choices I have to get caffeine. I recently tried the new Starbucks Refreshers and I am hooked! I find that they taste great and they don’t make me jittery and nauseous like some other energy drinks out there. They also don’t throw off my entire sleep schedule like a 5 hour or Red Bull, which is great.

Strawberry Lemonade Refresher

Strawberry Lemonade Refresher

I have tried them at the store, in a can and as a supplement in my water and really enjoy all of them. My favorite flavors are the Very Berry Hibiscus and the Strawberry Lemonade. It also gives me something to get at Starbucks when friends or colleagues want to stop there.

4. Jason and Molly Mesnick’s Podcast: This is Reality

mesnick

I love podcasts and I love the Bachelor and Bachelorette, so when Jason and Molly Mesnick came out with their own podcast I knew I would love. I just didn’t realize how much until I started listening to it. If you’ve ever wanted the inside scoop on what goes down on the Bachelor, look no further. These two give an inside look into their lives and their experience on the show. Each podcast is about 30 minutes each. I got caught up on them this week and I’m hooked!

5. ClearCheckBook.com

register

I have finally entered the digital age! I am one of those people that keeps a paper checkbook register and balances my checkbook periodically. That is how I was raised and the habit stuck. I decided to try out an online system so I can better track my spending and get rid of my old paper checkbook register. I settled on ClearCheckBook.com and I really like how it works. You enter all of your transactions and then you can “jive” them once they clear your account. You can also place a category on each purchase which allows you to pull some cool charts to see where your money is going. This is a huge departure for me, but if I still like it after a few months I might decide to do my budgeting there as well, instead of with my trusty excel spreadsheet.

5 on Friday: Michigan Edition

I was looking forward to today’s Five on Friday Post with  A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life BlogHello Happiness and Carolina Charm. because I couldn’t wait to do a Michigan edition!

5 on Friday Logo - Final

This weekend, I am most excited about Michigan football! My husband and I are going to the first game against Central and we can’t wait to check out the team this year. I’ve purchased a few new items for this season of tailgating and I have a few more that I still want. Here are my top Michigan must-haves:

Michigan Wolverines Ladies Navy Blue Braided Dream Tube Dress ($39.95): I just bought this for Saturday’s game and it should be at my house anytime now. I hope it fits!

Wolverine Tube Dress

University of Michigan Polka Dot Womens Rain Boots ($19.99): I picked these up last year at Meijer. They are perfect for those rainy, muddy games!

DaynaU University of Michigan Kukui Nut Necklace ($19.95): I got mine when we went to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl a couple years back and I think it brings good luck.

Coach Madison Wristlet ($48): When you go to a game at the Big House you can’t bring anything in with you, except for a tiny little wristlet, so you have to get a cute one. This style is new and will fit in perfectly with the fall trends.

Michigan Wolverines Temporary Tattoos ($3.95): I LOVE showing my spirit at tailgates and I always have some sort of face tattoo at every game. I can’t wait to get all decked out on Saturday!

Five on Friday: Summer Dresses

I don’t know about you, but I’m a big dress person. I rarely wear jeans and never wear shorts in the summer – I prefer a sundress or maxi dress to beat the heat. Now that it’s starting to heat up here in Michigan, I thought I should pull together some cute dress options that have caught my eye.

Floral Linen-Blend Fit & Flare Midi Sundress for Women ($38)

I keep seeing this dress in a Facebook ad and I love it! I love the cut and the print! I love that it’s a little bit longer too!

Strappy Ruched Maxi Dress ($139)

I have a black maxi that I got eight years ago from Banana Republic that I just LOVE! When I saw this one I thought it could be my new favorite!

Halter Tie Dress ($24)

I like to find dresses in different colors and cuts than ones I already have (I tend to stick with a few colors and styles). I love the halter cut of this dress and think it would be versatile for vacation or to dress up.

Polka Dot Ruffle Sleeve Flare Dress ($29.99)

This is adorable! It looks black, but it’s really Industrial Navy. It would go so well with a number of shoes and accessories I already have.

Colorblock Maxi Dress ($27.99)

This dress was just fun and different – I love colorblock and this one looked more casual on top and dressier on the bottom.

Let me know which one is your favorite!
