Scandal “Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington” Recap

Olivia (Kerry Washington) is still reeling from Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) showing up on her doorstep, but that doesn’t stop her from taking a new client meeting in a fabulous coat. Olivia walks in the office wearing Donna Karan’s sold out double face cashmere coat. This Zara wraparound coat ($239) or this Ralph Lauren Plush Drape Front Coat ($295) are similar:

The team starts to realize that their new client isn’t everything she seems to be. Olivia wears a Giorgio Armani violet grey suit, Josie Natori shell, Gucci grey suede shoes, Ippolita necklace ($695)and a Movado Concerto watch ($2395) (IDs courtesy of Good Morning America).

For a full look for less you can try this Marled Twill Jacket from The Limited ($128) 9 & Co. Charmeuse top ($19.99), Kelsi Dagger Lizzy shoes ($29.99), black onyx necklace ($95) and the Coach Tristen watch ($278):

Olivia follows their new client and gets stuck in a hostage situation. The woman is in the midst of a government cover up as she is trying to find out the truth about her son. He was a hero, but because of other deep cover agents, she will never be able to learn the truth about what happened to him.

Olivia and team spend the day trying to find the truth for her as she holds Olivia hostage, but when Olivia finally gets Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) on the phone, he tells her she can’t tell the woman the truth to protect other agents. The woman simply cannot accept this and ends up becoming a terrorist herself.

This episode was hard to watch. There weren’t any winners in this situation, not to mention the fact that Huck (Guillermo Diaz) gets pressured by Olivia’s father to kill again.

At the end of the day, Olivia realizes that she didn’t get Jake back for free and that her father will always own Jake and Huck and can get to them at any time.

The Crazy Ones “Breakfast Burrito Club” Recap

This week on The Crazy Ones, we learned about the creative process. I loved this episode for calling out how difficult it is to come up with a great idea. Now, their creative process is a little different than mine, but I loved Sydney’s (Sarah Michelle Gellar) big creative binder. She really is the yin to Simon’s (Robin Williams) yang.

This was especially funny as she was supposed to take a vacation to Hawaii, which normal people would be excited about, but she tried every excuse in the book to avoid going. A workaholic by nature, she couldn’t stand to unplug and relax.

Sydney wears a Rebecca Taylor Prisma Flower Blouse ($159) and Peggy Li Black Diamond Threader Earrings ($89). I found this Kensie Peplum Blouse ($49.99) that gives you a similar look for less:

The night doesn’t exactly go as planned, but after a number of creative endeavors and an awkward kiss they eventually get to the big idea. Sydney wears a Gold Hawk Silk Tank ($160.65) and the Theory Gabe Blazer ($395). I found a similar Farr West lace trim tank ($45) and a Zara pinstripe blazer ($89.90):

The Good Wife “A Precious Commodity” Recap

I have to hand it to Diane (Christine Baranski), she owned up right away to Will (Josh Charles) that she burned him in the Law Review interview. That couldn’t have been easy and I don’t think a lot of people would face it head on. This is why I like Diane’s character so much. She doesn’t seem afraid of very much. The first family of Illinois got their inaugural photos taken. Alicia (Julianna Marguiles) wears the sold-out Gammner dress from The Row. For a similar look try this Nicole Miller Sheath Dress ($275) or this Ponte Sheath Dress ($88):

dress ID Source: WornOnTV

Alicia gets called away on an interesting case about a surrogate. In the meantime Will starts to make a case to push Diane out of the firm. Alicia wears a purple collarless blazer for her meeting with the surrogate and the parents. I found a similar blazer at DressBarn for $79.50: purple blazer Peter (Chris Noth) and Eli (Alan Cumming) bring back Marilyn (Melissa George) to give her the Ethics Committee job back, but she is no pushover and demands unfettered access to Peter…this should be interesting. She wears a black peplum dress. I found a Calvin Klein peplum dress for $118: peplum

David Lee (Zach Grenier) decides to join Alicia in the surrogate case, as he has a larger prize in mind. I love that Alicia catches on to his plan right away. She is one smart cookie. She is always the voice of reason, especially in the Diane situation as she reminds everyone that Diane will be a Supreme Court justice and they might want to leave things on good terms. Alicia wears a patterned skirt suit by Escada. I found a purple and black patterned skirt suit from Le Suit ($59.99) that has a similar sense of whimsy:

escada

The firm gives Diane an exit package, but she declines saying that they can do better. They want to keep her clients in good standing. Diane is wearing a white textured jacket from Armani and a vintage firefly brooch. I found an MNG white tweed jacket ($55) and a vintage brooch on eBay ($24.99):

armani

Then Will asks Alicia to replace Diane as managing partner! WOW, I didn’t see that one coming – he is going to be furious when she leaves with Cary (Matt Czuchry). This really puts her in a difficult position.

Back in court, Alicia is arguing to let her client keep the baby she was carrying. It is an interesting argument. She wears a Giorgio Armani Ribbed Front Jacket ($2795). I found this Star Jones blazer that has a similar seam detail ($65):

ribbed blazer

Marilyn is back on the Ethics Committee giving Eli a hard time already .She looks great doing it in a white v-neck blouse with pleats. I found an INC pleated blouse at Macy’s ($72.50). When she talks to Peter you can already see that they have chemistry…I think she will spell trouble for him. No wonder he is in such a hurry to renew his vows with Alicia.

pleated blouse

Cary confronts Alicia about getting asked to be managing partner, he makes a good point, that she will always be under Will if she stays. I think that if she never had the affair with Will it would be different, but I don’t think they can work that closely and keep it clean. Then Robyn (Jess Weixler) lets it slip that Alicia is leaving the firm, which Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) didn’t know.

Alicia sits through Will’s discussion with Diane, where she rejects the exit package again. Alicia realizes that if she becomes managing partner, she could one day be having this same discussion with Will. I think she can’t believe how ugly it’s become. She immediately goes to Cary and tells him that they need to leave this week. She wears a Rena Lange striped blazer. You can try this Anne Klein linen blazer ($109) for a similar look:

rena lange

Diane is a formidable opponent in a Moschino asymmetric ruffled jacket ($2, 438.79). I found a black INC military jacket for $119.50:

Scandal “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” Recap

This week’s episode starts with a flashback from five years ago. We see Olivia (Kerry Washington) getting off the subway and running into Huck (Guillermo Diaz) seemingly a weekly tradition between the two of them. She wears a double breasted coat from Stella McCartney ($1865). I found an Ellen Tracy Tweed Button Front Coat on sale for $140 that is similar:

stella coat

We discover that Olivia has a deal with her father (Joe Morton) to have dinner once a week in return for him paying her law school tuition. Olivia wears a charcoal sweater ($298) and cardigan ($398) from Brooks Brothers.  I found a similar cardigan set from Ann Taylor in battleship grey, the cardigan ($189) and the shell ($119) are both 100% cashmere:

After dinner, she gets mugged in the subway and Huck comes to her rescue and tells her to run. We flash to the present day and the president’s secret service agent slips Olivia a secret phone during her run to talk to the president. She wears a Lulu Lemon Forme Jacket in Twin Stripe ($108) and the Lulu Lemon Run: Inspire Crop II *Block-It Pocket ($92):

lululemon

Olivia tells the president that she is going to represent Jeannine (Samantha Sloyen) and come after the White House with everything she has. During the press conference Olivia wears the MaxMara Eliana Coat ($4,173). I still like the Michael Kors belted wrap coat ($158.40) as a look for less for this coat. I might be partial because I own this one myself.

wrap coatFlashing back again, we see Olivia confronting Huck at the subway to try to find out more about him. He tells her about B613 and that he was a trained assassin. It is really interesting watching her interact with her father and re-telling the mugging story to him. I think one of the more humorous parts is her telling him that she never had a taste for wine and him expanding her palette.  She wars another fun coat, a sold-out Burberry Prorsum coat. JCrew has a similar coat for $365 and Kenneth Cole has one on sale for $179.99:

burberry123

Back in the present day, Olivia has a choice to make. Either she lets Jeannine Lock burn or B613 will never let Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) go. We also find out that Huck doesn’t know who Olivia’s father is when he meets him in the office. Olivia wears an Escada suit, Armani draped blouse ($306.20) and the Ippolita Rosé Rock Candy Mini Lollipop and Ball Necklace ($895). I found a BCX Blazer ($39.98) and Trousers ($34.98), a Kasper Cowl Neck Top ($33.99) and a similar rose gold necklace from Sears ($19.98):

Flashback to Olivia’s first meeting with David Rosen (Joshua Malina). He tells her that Huck has never been arrested and Olivia starts to figure out what’s really going on when she sees her father’s pen with the name Acme Limited on it. She confronts her father and then she gets smart and decides to accept Edison’s (Norm Lewis) proposal because his new Senate position gives her some leverage to get Huck back. Olivia wears a sold out Max Mara Orleans coat. I found an asymmetrical Sam Edelman coat for $178 that is similar:

maxmaraIn the present, Olivia and team are still trying to clear Jeannine’s name. This is all for nothing once Mellie (Bellamy Young) gets to her and convinces her to admit to the affair for $2 million. Olivia gets a choice, until President Grant (Tony Goldwyn) makes it for her by admitting the affair and getting Jake Ballard released. Olivia wears an Alexander McQueen Military Jacket ($1778.61). I found a similar BCBG Military Jacket ($169.99):

military

In the final flashback we realize that Eli Pope giving Huck back had a price. He orchestrated an accident that put Edison in the hospital and told Olivia she had to break up with him.

At the end of the episode Huck figures out who Eli Pope really is and the deal Olivia secured for him and Jake Ballard shows up at Olivia’s door…as long as she attends Sunday night dinners. Olivia wears a Donna Karan Collection Drape Front Cashmere Cozy ($1,000) and Cashmere Tank ($550). I found a similar Karen Kane Cardigan for $69.30:

The Crazy Ones “Bad Dad” Recap

On this week’s episode of The Crazy Ones, Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) finally learned how to drive. Simon (Robin Williams) and Sydney pitched AllState Insurance for a father/daughter campaign to talk about life milestones. After the pitch they realized that they didn’t really have a lot of these milestones and the ones they did have were sort of a mess. Sydney realizes that she wouldn’t trade any those crazy experiences, because they made her who she is.

The best part of the whole episode, at the end in the outtakes, where Robin Williams asks where she learned all of those Dukes of Hazzard moves and Sarah Michlle Gellar responds “Sunnydale.” LOVE IT!

Now, let’s get to the clothes! During the AllState pitch, Sydney wears a sold-out Hudson Printed Silk Top, a black Tuxedo Blazer ($89.98) and the Tania Green Onyx Earrings from Brooklyn Designs ($64)   I found a similar colored blouse from Kenneth Cole ($60.99):

During the crazy driving lesson, Sydney wears a BCBGMaxAzria Print Top ($89.99), a black JCrew Sweater ($65) and Peggi Li Rosy Red Earrings ($89):

During the last scene, when Simon takes Sydney “camping” to make up for an unfortunate camping incident, she wears an off-the-shoulder Metro Chicago shirt from Sportiqe ($40):

The Good Wife “The Bit Bucket” Recap

There was a lot going on in this week’s episode of The Good Wife. ChumHum was back and so was Alicia’s mother, Veronica (Stockard Channing). The partners are becoming very suspicious of the fourth year lawyers as they prepare to leave the firm. Diane (Christine Baranski) is wearing a Dolce & Gabbana Floral Tweed Jacket in the opening scene.  I found a few similar options, the first, an Anne Klein Tweed Jacket ($103.99), the second, a crinkle cut jacket from QVC ($52) and the third, a white tweed jacket from Rafaella ($24.60):

dolce and gabbana

The new office space looks great, but juggling two firms is starting to take its toll on Alicia (Julianna Marguiles). She wears a 35DL Maroon Suit. Daniel Lawson, the stylist from The Good Wife is actually starting this new line. The suit isn’t available yet, but you can watch for it here. I found a similar Tahari ASL Suit ($179.99):

red suit

In court this week, ChumHum takes on the government and Alicia and team get creative in how to resolve their conflict with their gag order. It is an interesting ethical dilemma as Cary (Matt Czuchry) and Alicia are planning to take ChumHum with them when they start their firm. In court, Alicia wears a blue silk suit by Dior. I found a similar suit from Tahari ASL ($179.99):

dior

Diane has an ethical dilemma of her own – trash Will (Josh Charles) or don’t get the State Supreme Court nomination. She wears a red blouse – I found a similar silk blouse for $107.20:

red blouse

During her interview she decides to take the high road and not bash Will. The reporter doesn’t seem to like this and the interview wasn’t great. Also, as a PR person, I have to mention that it was an extremely hostile interview and I’m surprised that Eli (Alan Cumming) didn’t sit in. Diane wears a black blazer with a gold pattern. I found a few metallic blazers that could work for this look, a metallic jacket from Lafayette 148 ($698) and a Rafaella Metallic Jacket ($76.99):

jacket

Alicia meets her mom for a drink to say thank you for providing the extra money for her new firm’s new office. They get drunk off of margaritas and it is a great scene. I love when Alicia gets real and actually shares what she is feeling. She wears a tweed blazer; I found a similar Nine West Tweed Blazer for $95.99:

tweedEli visits Diane to convince her to do another interview, this time bashing Will. She is very reluctant to go through with this, but ultimately gives the interview. I was surprised by this…I really thought she would stick to her principles, but I guess she really wanted the Supreme Court position. It’s too bad because Eli called back as soon as she finished the interview letting her off the hook. Diane wore a teal dress for the interview. I found a few similar options  – a Michael Kors Wrap Dress ($120) and a Ronni Nicole Knotted Dress ($76.50):

Will is going to flip when he finds out, next week’s episode should be explosive! I wonder what will happen when he finds out about Alicia leaving as well.

Scandal “It’s Handled” Recap

I couldn’t wait to cover Scandal this season, because I LOVE Olivia Pope’s (Kerry Washington) wardrobe. She is always put together and looks professional and classy, minus the affair with the president and the crazy scenarios she gets herself into. A number of websites cover the looks that Olivia wears, but most of them are so expensive that I could never afford them. I wanted to find a way to recreate Olivia’s fantastic wardrobe for less, so here goes.

We last left Olivia after the country found out that she was the president’s mistress. Her father, Eli Pope (Joe Morton) offers her an attractive getaway package – a new life wherever she wants to go. Most people would have taken that, but Olivia decided to go the road less taken and deal with mess she found herself in. She wears the Lulu Lemon Forme Jacket ($108). I found a similar Jacket from Target ($24.99): lululemon Olivia didn’t really think about the consequences when she decided to take the road less traveled. All of her clients have abandoned her, which is sort of hypocritical considering they came to see her at their lowest point. She wears a Ralph Lauren Black Label Coat ($419). I found similar looks at Macy’s with an Evan Picone Suit ($200) and Kohl’s Jacket for $39.30: ralph laurenIn an interesting turn of events, Olivia calls a secret number, enters a code and then is escorted to a bunker where she can hash out strategy with President Grant (Tony Goldwyn) and Mellie (Bellamy Young). She wears an amazing Burberry Caped Trenchcoat ($908) with a to-die-for Prada bag ($2200). trench I found a few similar options for the coat, the first, a camel colored Ted Baker trench ($525), the second  a Michael Kors Trench ($209.99) and the third a Michael Kors Belted Wrap Coat ($158.40). I own the third option and LOVE it!

coat

I found a Micheal Kors Selma Satchel ($358) that is a great match for Olivia’s Prada Bag:

prada

At the end of the episode, we discover that Mellie has turned the tables and won’t go along with the story, instead throwing a young White House aide under the bus. I find it interesting that Olivia tried to do the right thing, but nobody would let her. She wears an Escada Pleated Cutaway Jacket ($1795). I spent a lot of time looking for a less expensive version, but didn’t have a lot of luck. I think this Jones New York Tweed Blazer ($179) has a similar cut:

The Crazy Ones “The Spectacular” Recap

I love the dynamic between Simon (Robin Williams) and Zach (James Wolk), they are hilarious together. This week on The Crazy Ones, Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is tasked to come up with “a spectacular” for Windy Cindy Coffee.

103826_d0349b

I loved the premise of this episode, mostly because I am in the public relations business and am no stranger to the “spectacular” idea. No matter what client you are working with there is always pressure to surprise and delight them with big ideas. I’ve never had a big idea go as wrong as the Windy City Coffee event, but I couldn’t help but be impressed by the team’s quick thinking and turnaround with a new idea. All in a day’s work.

Sydney had some great outfits this week, the first is the Parker Pearl Silk Henley Top ($79.20) with  a Rebecca Taylor jacket of which there are two different styles, a Matte Crepe Jacket ($395) and a Leather Trim Blazer ($256.67). I found a similar look for less blazer at Kohls for ($34.99). She also wears a black leather skirt – I found a faux leather skirt at Dillards for $29.40:

During the spectacular disaster, Sydney wears a Banana Republic Flared Trench ($225, ID Source: Possessionista), the Rag and Bone Harrow Booties ($495) and an adorable fedora. I couldn’t find a similar color/bow combination, but Nordstrom has a similar style fedora for $39. For similar booties for less, try the DV Jaxen Boot ($128.95):

At the final Windy City Coffee meeting, Sydney wears a winning Marc by Marc Jacobs Minetta Print Blouse ($248):

The Good Wife “Everything is Ending” Recap

I have always loved the clothes from The Good Wife. Alicia Florrick (Julianna Marguiles) and Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) are impeccably dressed in every episode. I really wanted to cover this show this season and try to find some of these amazing looks for less.

The first scene we see is the ending of last season, where Cary (Matt Czuchry) visits Alicia to discuss starting their own firm. The dress is so sexy, so you think she is meeting with Will, but it turns out to be Cary. It is a black Antonio Berardi dress. I found two different options, the Black Halo Jackie Dress ($345) and a sexy David Miester dress ($250, worn by Marcia Gay Harden on the red carpet).

black dress Alicia and team are working on a death penalty appeal which makes for a fairly serious episode. The comedic relief was Monica “teleconferencing in” on some sort of robotic segway and not really making it work. That was sort of ridiculous, but I could see offices trying to do something like that. In any case, it lightened up the episode. Alicia is wearing a teal Christian Dior blazer. I found a similar option for less at Dress Barn for $39: teal blazer I also have to mention how great the music was in this episode – it really brought the time limitations of this case to life. And a big hello to Melissa George who is guest starring as Marilyn “Mitch” Garbanza. I was a big fan of Alias back in the day and she was always a character I loved to hate. I am excited to see how her character will develop this season.

Marilyn wears a white blouse with leather trim. I found a few similar options, the first a B and K by BUCHANAN & KANG blouse ($295), the second a Elie Tahari Chelsea Blouse ($186), and the third a Kardashian Kollection blouse ($33.24):

bw blouseMarilyn has a very feminine look, which might explain why Eli (Alan Cumming) and Peter (Chris Noth) decide to promote her out of the office – so as not to send the wrong message. She wears a high-neck cream blouse. I found a similar looking blouse from Equipment ($124.80):

white blouseBack at the office, Cary confronts Alicia to make sure she is still on board with going out on their own. The partners complicate things when they confront her about the 4th years leaving to start their own firm. I think this will be a very difficult transition, it will be interesting to see how things play out.

Diane and Robyn (Jess Weixler) are still working on the appeal case. Diane wears a Saint Laurent blouse ($1257.53). I found a few similar blouses, the first a coral blouse from Mango ($59.99), the second an American Apparel blouse ($42.99), and a fuschia blouse from JCP ($15.99):

red blouseCary visits Alicia at home to find out what the partners know, putting her in the middle. She wears a Theory Jondi Jacket ($166) and I found a similar Boucle Jacket from the Gap ($88):

The Crazy Ones “Pilot” Recap

I was more excited for The Crazy Ones to start than any other show this season. Why? Because of Sarah Michelle Gellar. I have loved watching Gellar since her Buffy the Vampire Slayer days. I find it funny that I am now going to recap her outfits from The Crazy Ones, because I used to do this during Buffy. I didn’t really id the original outfits, but I would try to find similar looks so I could recreate them.

sarah3

The Crazy Ones is set at an ad agency in Chicago owned by father/daughter duo Simon and Sydney Roberts. They team is about to lose their biggest account, McDonald’s. I’m not sure if anyone else saw the irony in the writer’s choice of McDonald’s as the big client. As a small child, Gellar’s first commercial was for Burger King in which she criticized McDonald’s. The commercial even led to a lawsuit from McDonald’s.

I thought the pilot was fantastic. I LOVED the scene with Robin Williams and James Wolk singing the “drive through lovin” song to Kelly Clarkson…hilarious!

I love how Sydney (Gellar) saved the day (and the account) by singing to Kelly Clarkson. I thought this was extra special because she pretty much vowed never to sing on TV again after the Buffy musical. I like that working with Robin Williams seems to push her out of her comfort zone. Hopefully we’ll see more of that this season.

Now, let’s get down to the clothes: Sarah’s first outfit includes a Helmut Lang leather biker jacket (sold out) and a Ted Baker Orchid Print Top (sold out):

Ted BakerID Source: OnScreenStyle

To recreate this look, you can try the INC Faux-Leather Motorcycle Jacket ($89.50) and this floral blouse from Vince Camuto ($19.99): tco She also carries a Tom Ford Jennifer Large Calfskin Shoulder Bag ($2990). You can check out this B. Makowsky Glove Leather Convertible Messenger Bag ($265) for a less expensive option: Tom Ford Bag Her second outfit showcases a beautiful Rebecca Taylor Hawaii Zip Jacket ($174.99) and I found a Trina Turk hot pink blouse ($188) to go with it:

Rebecca Taylor

In the scene with Kelly Clarkson, Sydney adds an All Saints leather trench and a pair of Prada Pink Two Tone Suede Platform Peep Toes ($517.50):

all saints

I LOVED the Prada shoes, but unfortunately they don’t have them in my size anymore. If you love them to you can find a similar pair at DSW for $49.94:
