The Good Wife “The Next Day” Recap

I’m not sure how you can top the last episode, but this one was pretty good. Diane (Christine Baranski) is preparing to become a judge, Will (Josh Charles) is losing himself in a new girlfriend and Alicia (Julianna Marguiles) is running her new firm out of her house. Alicia wears a cashmere gray zip up sweater by Richard Grant. I found a similar StudioLux Jacket by Under Armour ($129.99): Zip up Marilyn (Melissa George) stops by to discuss ethics with Alicia. Is this a real job in the governor’s office, because it seems sort of annoying to me. She is like the ethics police. I like her character though and her clothes are great. She wears a black blazer with ruffles along the edge and a high collared white blouse.  This Cremieux Juliet Blouse ($79.99) and INC Ruffle Trim Jacket ($83.99) provide a similar look: ruffle jacket Diane is busy filling in with Alicia’s old client against Nancy Crozier (Mamie Gummer) of all people. Diane wears a Rope Matelasse Jacket from Chado Ralph Rucci ($1715). You can get a similar look with this Dolce Vita Ashna Metallic Tiles Blazer ($208):

gold jacket

In the middle of her argument, the lawyers are called into chambers and the client decides to change her counsel from Diane to Alicia and Cary (Matt Czuchry). I love how the judges react to this – hilarious! Alicia wears an Armani Micro Herringbone Draped Lapel Jacket ($1395).  I found this Elle Ruffle Blazer ($21.60) that provides a similar look:

grey blazer

After court, Marilyn stops by again and we discover that she is pregnant. This makes her character more likeable and gives her a chance to bond with Alicia.

The next day, Alicia takes Will and Diane to the Disciplinary Board to get their client’s files back from Lockhart Gardner. I am surprised at how far she is taking this. She wears an LT Bennett Julie Grosgrain Jacket ($425). This Kasper Framed Flyaway Jacket ($71.40) is similar:

kasper jacket

I can’t believe how cold Alicia was to Will during this. I understand that she needed to let him go, but coming after him like this doesn’t seem like her. After the meeting Diane finally learns that she is out for the Supreme Court position. She wears a vibrant blue and green brocade jacket. I found a Tahari Jacquard Contrast-Trim Jacket ($71.40) that is similar:

jacquard

Things get a little weird when Diane’s new husband has a lead in the gun case, but it’s not Diane’s case anymore. Alicia then convinces him to testify for the client.

Marilyn comes back to Alicia’s house and starts digging into Peter’s internet taxation speech and is trying to make it look like Florrick Agos got the ChumHum business because of this speech. She’s not wrong, but she’s not gaining any friends here.

Back in court, Alicia has Kurt McVeigh (Gary Cole) on the stand to testify about the defective gun. Alicia recycles a Moschino jacket from last season. This Jones New York blazer ($99.99) is similar:

moschino

Kalinda (Archi Panjabi) has to break it to Diane that she is no longer being considered for the Supreme Court position. She goes to the bathroom and breaks down. I feel bad for her, she worked so hard to get to the Supreme Court and hurt her relationship with Will and then Alicia’s actions ruin her chances. It is really a shame. Diane wears a tan dress and an Alchemy Classic “O” Abs Choker ($225).  I found a similar mocha dress by Andrew Marc ($59.40):

beige dress

Back at the Disciplinary Board Alicia, Will, Cary and Diane are arguing over client files. Alicia wears an olive Tom Ford skirt suit and Diane wears a fuchsia jacket with a vintage pin. I had a hard time finding a match for Alicia’s jacket, but found a similar color Elie Tahari jacket ($199):

olive jacket

For Diane, I found this Liz Claiborne Ponte Peplum Jacket ($47.99) and a great vintage brooch from Etsy ($24):

pink jacket

In the end, Lockhart Gardner gets their case back, but Diane officially loses the Supreme Court position. It is a bittersweet victory.

White Collar “One Last Stakeout” Recap

Neal (Matt Bomer) is bonding with his new handler David Seigel (Warren Kole) this week on White Collar. Well he is mostly trying to figure out how to handle his illegal business without Seigel finding out. We learn a little more about Seigel, that he comes from money but left all of it to do the right thing. He seems to be a genuinely good guy.

1 - Neal and Seigel

Curtis Hagan a.k.a. The Dutchman (Mark Sheppard) officially gets released and he still is pulling Neal’s strings. He gives Neal an almost impossible task and forces him to be creative to accomplish it.

In the meantime, Peter (Tim DeKay) promotes Clinton Jones (Sharif Atkins) to take over his old position. Neal and Mozzie (Willie Garson ) convince someone else to rob a museum as a distraction so they can actually rob it without getting caught.

Peter is having a hard time enjoying the perks of his new position, even when they include suite tickets to a Yankees game. He takes Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) along with him and she tries to convince him to rip off the band-aid and let Seigel handle Neal. Elizabeth wears a mint green blouse with jeans and heels to the baseball game. I found a similar mint blouse from Spense ($17.39):

mint blouse

Caffrey’s break in doesn’t go quite as planned because Peter shows up unexpectedly. He improvises, but realizes that he may have left his fingerprints at the crime scene. To get Peter to leave, Neal comes down a little harsh on him. Peter leaves and heads back to meet Elizabeth with some friends. For her drink with friends Elizabeth wears an off-the-shoulder red dress. I found a similar Tadashi Shoji dress ($138):

red dress

The consequences from his actions pile up, including getting the curator from the museum fired and having Peter think it is his fault for throwing Neal off his game.

When he meets with Hagan, Seigel follows him and starts to suspect Neal of something more. Unfortunately, Seigel doesn’t get the chance to confront Neal because he is murdered out of nowhere. Peter and Neal go to investigate the crime scene and Peter says it was a mugging gone wrong, but somehow I don’t think that is true.

I can’t believe they killed of Seigel so soon. I was just starting to like him.

Scandal “More Cattle Less Bull” Recap

During Olivia’s (Kerry Washington) weekly dinner with her father, Huck (Guillermo Diaz) and Jake (Scott Foley) are investigating his apartment. They seemed determined to bring Eli Pope (Joe Morton) down at all costs. Olivia wears a herringbone plaid blazer. I found a similar Calvin Klein blazer ($52.49): herringbone Back at the White House it is campaign manager season. Cyrus (Jeff Perry) and Mellie (Bellamy Young) are searching for a manager for Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Josephine Marcus (Lisa Kudrow) is looking for someone that can get her to the White House. Cyrus and Mellie strike out and Olivia lands a job with Marcus. Unfortunately, she has a big problem for Olivia to handle, she gave a baby up for adoption when she was a teenager. Olivia wears a white tweed Christian Dior blazer. I found a Rachel Zoe tweed jacket ($79.84) that is similar: tweed jacket Olivia sends the entire team to Montana to dig up dirt on Josephine and figuring out ways to make sure that dirt stays buried. One thing nobody counted on was the vice-president taking on both Josephine and Fitz to win the presidency. The team discovers that Josephine Marcus’ baby is actually her sister, Candy. Josephine wants to shield Candy from the media scrutiny and tries to get Olivia to fix it for her. Unfortunately, during the press conference she has to face the situation head on and admit that Candy is her daughter. It works out swimmingly for her, but she ends up firing Pope & Associates anyways.

Olivia wears a grey suit during her work with Josephine and carries her white Prada bag. I found an Evan-Picone Gray Suit Jacket ($59.98) that is similar:

grey jacket

I found a Micheal Kors Selma Satchel ($358) that is a great match for Olivia’s Prada Bag:

Fitz calls and cheers Olivia up, letting her vet his jokes for the White House correspondent’s dinner. Mellie overhears their conversation and realizes that she can’t get between them. Olivia decides to attend the dinner after all and takes Jake as her date. She wears a stunning Rubin Singer colorblock dress. I found a great look for less in this Anne Klein Colorblocked Strapless Gown ($328):

colorblock dress

Out of left field Mellie asks Olivia to come back on the campaign trail and continue her relationship with Fitz. When it rains it pours because Josie also offers Olivia her job back.

It all sounds like a dream come true for Olivia and she actually considers it until Jake and Huck come to see her and tell her that Fitz was the one that shot down her mother’s plane and is responsible for her death.

I think that effectively ends Olivia’s relationship with Fitz, but let’s be honest – it wasn’t really going to work out anyways. Now maybe she can finally move on.

The Crazy Ones “Hugging the Now” Recap

This week’s episode of The Crazy Ones was about recapturing your youth and the one that got away.  Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has the chance to see her high school crush when Simon (Robin Williams) gets nominated for an advertising award.

Sydney wears a sold-out ASTR Lace Inset Tank ($24.98) and a sold-out Helmut Lang Cove Leather Trim Suit Jacket ($229). I found a Lush Lace Inset Woven Tank ($30) and a Sharagano Faux-Leather Trim Blazer ($99.99):

For the occasion, she glams it up in a Narciso Rodriguez Sequin Front Spaghetti Strap Dress ($2495) and Danielle Queller Onyx Open Weave earrings. The Good Wife “Hitting the Fan” Recap

This episode was the best hour of television I have seen in years. If you aren’t watching this show, now is the time to start. The build up to the moment Will (Josh Charles) discovers Alicia’s (Julianna Marguiles) betrayal was perfect and the moment did not disappoint. I was on the edge of my seat the entire episode loving every second.

103743_0401b

The most heartbreaking part of the whole episode was Will’s reaction. It seemed like he was heartbroken and sick all at the same time. He stayed impressively calm throughout everything though. WOW…amazing scenes. The musical score was also right on the money, it kept the intensity flowing throughout the entire episode. I don’t know if I can pick a favorite part of this episode, but I think Peter (Chris Noth) confronting Will on sleeping with Alicia may have been a high point. Again, WOW!

103743_0499b

Throughout the episode, Alicia was wearing the same Number 35 blazer with leather elbow patches featured in last week’s episode. I found a similar Mossimo blazer ($39.99):

zip upAlso, the sex scene between Peter and Alicia – where did that inner vixen come from? Seriously, who is this lady and what have they done with Alicia. In any case, I am looking forward to seeing this new side of her. She wears a leather blazer during the ChumHum meeting. I found a similar Calvin Klein blazer for $89.99:

leather jacket

In the second ChumHum meeting, she wears a beautiful royal blue dress and blazer to win the business. I found a similar Anne Klein jacquard dress ($99) and blazer ($129):

blue dress

Then right at the end, we discover that Peter has changed his mind about asking Diane (Christine Baranski) to be the next nominee. Poor Diane, I felt really bad for her, although she didn’t have to tell Will that Alicia was leaving the firm.

White Collar “Out of the Frying Pan” Recap

This week on White Collar, Neal (Matt Bomer) gets a new handler, David Seigel (Warren Kole). This makes things especially interesting as he is still being blackmailed by the Dutchman. To finish off his payment for Peter’s (Tim DeKay) release, Neal has to destroy the evidence at FBI headquarters that is going to be used in the Dutchman’s trial.

The other catch, is that their case leads them to Mozzie (Willie Garson). Neal and Mozzie are able to evade the Feds because Seigel doesn’t know his connection to Neal yet. But this does him no good when Diana (Marsha Thomason) starts investigating and catches him in the act.

Diana ends up giving birth and Mozzie has to help her deliver the baby. Because of this, she ends up letting him off the hook.

At the hospital, Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) wears mint jeans, a white blouse and a beige cardigan.

I created this look for less with the Mavi Jeans ($39.99), Charter Club Top ($19.99) and Charter Club Cardigan ($24.99):

Scandal “Say Hello to My Little Friend” Recap

This week on Scandal, Olivia (Kerry Washington) faces some hard truths about her father. She tries to stay in denial by asking Jake (Scott Foley) to leave her apartment, but deep down she knows the truth.

Pope & Associates have a new client, a senator who can’t keep it in his pants, which has led him to a murder trial that the gang has to help him out of. Olivia wears a white double-breasted Armani jacket. I found a Kasper blazer ($119) that gives you a similar look:

armani

The team hits the ground running with a press conference outside of the senator’s trial. Olivia wears another one of her fabulous coats, a Ralph Lauren Black Label Coat. This Isaac Mizrahi Plaid Belted Trench (179.50) is similar:

The plot thickens when more girls are uncovered in the senator’s case. In the meantime, Mellie (Bellamy Young) insults the new female presidential candidate and Huck (Guillermo Diaz) and Jake team up to take down command. It’s not going to be so easy to get the senator’s wife to forgive him if he is still being unfaithful. Olivia wears an Akris Wool Blend Jacquard Jacket ($3700). This Preston & York Savannah Plaid Jacket ($109) gives you a similar look for less:

akris

The senator’s wife goes into hiding and its up to Olivia to get her back. She convinces her that even though her husband is scum, he’s not a killer and gets her to come back and testify. Olivia wears a Donna Karan Belted Kimono Jacket ($2495). I found two options that you could use to recreate this – a Liz Claiborne Peplum Jacket ($39) or a Denim & Co. Knit Jacket ($33) with this Nine West Leather Belt ($19.99):

UPDATE: I recently stumbled upon this Karma Ethel Jacket ($128) that I think is a perfect match for this look:

Jake and Huck are trying to convince Olivia that there is more than meets the eye with Project Remington and that the president is somehow involved. She at least listens to what they have to say this time. Olivia wears an olive silk shell, beige cardigan and a Long Classic Pearl and Crystal Necklace ($139). I found a charmeuse shell from Anne Klein ($39.99) and a Culture Phit Cardigan ($13.50):

olive shell

To head into court, she throws on a white blazer and grabs her Prada bag. I found this Vince Camuto blazer ($150):

white blazer

I found a Micheal Kors Selma Satchel ($358) that is a great match for Olivia’s Prada Bag:

pradaNow for the surprise twist at the end – we discover that the senator’s wife was the one that really killed the young woman, not the senator. Cyrus (Jeff Perry) also found some dirt on Josephine Marcus (Lisa Kudrow) – that she had a baby and gave it up for adoption. Olivia is starting to break down with all of the lies between her father and the president. I really hope she ends up with Jake – he seems to genuinely care about her, which is more than I can say for the president who just seems to keep messing with her.

The episode ends with Fitz confronting Eli (Joe Morton) about Project Remington.

The Crazy Ones “She’s So European” Recap

If you haven’t heard, The Crazy Ones got picked up for a full season! Hooray! Now we get more Sarah Michelle Gellar!

In this week’s episode, Sydney (Gellar) has a girl crush on the firm’s sexy European client Helena (Saffron Burrows). To impress her, Sydney wears a Saloni Marie Studded Dress ($450) and Heather Hawkins Rose Gold Dagger Earrings ($45.41). I found a similar Michael Kors Stud Dress ($89.99) to recreate the look:

As they review her dating application Sydney learns way too much about her father’s sex life and it makes her uncomfortable. Helena tries to get her to loosen up and they go out for drinks later that evening, where Sydney finds out that Helena has taken Zach (James Wolk) as a lover. Sydney wears a black and white Parker beaded top ($199):

The next day at work is a little uncomfortable for Sydney after learning a little too much about Zach’s personal life. They are competing too see who is closer with Helena which prompts Sydney to drop by Helen’s hotel room where she is in for a rude surprise. Sydney wears a BCBGMaxAzria Andie Printed Top ($110.60):

Simon (Robin Williams) is also sleeping with Helena! This puts Sydney in an uncomfortable situation as she now has to break the news to Zach that he isn’t the only man in Helena’s life. She wears a Robert Rodriguez Printed Top ($165) and Kate Spade Drop Earrings ($48):

This leads to a very awkward situation with Helena as everyone feels uncomfortable. They end up deciding to keep their personal lives out of the office and go back to a completely professional relationship with Helena in order to keep her as a client. Sydney wears a Ted Baker Evvie dress ($295), JCrew Jackie Cardigan ($65) and a beautiful collared necklace. To recreate this look, I chose an Isaac Mizrahi Peplum Dress ($118) and this Sparkling Crystal Peter Pan Collar Necklace ($15.99):

The Good Wife “Outside the Bubble” Recap

I love that Viola Walsh (Rita Wilson) is back this episode. I love her animosity with Diane (Christine Baranski). The episode starts from the paralegal’s point of view. Funny how the only person that even knows her name is Alicia (Julianna Margulies). Alicia wears an Escada Pleated Cutaway Jacket ($1795), also seen on Scandal. I found an even better look for less with the Elle Pleated Blazer from Kohl’s ($44.80):

escada

I also love that Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) is back. Her interaction with David Lee (Zach Grenier) is hilarious. Diane and Kurt McVeigh (Gary Cole) are finally getting married. It is interesting to watch him interact with her friends, but even I thought that the whole political scene was a little overboard. Diane wears a red suede military jacket. I found a similar jacket from QVC ($86.90): red jacketI don’t know what sort of friends would grill your fiance about their politics…obviously not very good ones. They even come over to confront Diane after the fact, but Diane holds her own in a fantastic green dress. I found this similar Aiden Maddox Sequin Dress ($295): green dressDuring the deposition with the paralegal, Alicia wore a Double-Face Crepe Jacket from the Armani Collezioni Collection ($1295). This Tahari blazer ($69.99) is a great match: purple blazerThe paralegal’s lawsuit is getting out of hand, but as Diane has to come in for her deposition. This is where she starts to catch on to something odd with Alicia. It’s too bad, because the fourth years almost got away with leaving, but they stayed too late. I loved Viola’s leopard print jacket and found a similar one from Boston Proper ($129): leopardOne of the issues that comes up during the deposition is that Will (Josh Charles) was sleeping with underlings in his office. Nobody knew it was Alicia, but it brings up some questions and forces them to revisit their past. During their exchange, you can definitely see there are some lingering feelings there, but those will be gone as soon as Alicia tells him she’s leaving the firm. Alicia wears an Akris Punto Blazer ($1460) – this printed Grace Elements blazer ($59.99) is a great match: black and whiteDiane decides to meet Kurt’s friends, who turn out to be a bunch of women in their 20’s. It makes Diane uncomfortable and she questions getting married to him. She wore a sweater dress with a jeweled neckline. I found a similar Michael Kors dress ($160):

jeweled

Cary (Matt Czuchry) finds out that one of the fourth years has leaked an incriminating video to Viola. This puts them in a difficult situation because he got caught and will now get fired without his bonus. This guy was a jerk, I hope after what happens he won’t be coming to the new firm. Alicia wears a tie-neck blouse; I found a similar Nine West Blouse ($39.98):

tie blouse
Diane meets with one of her clients who divulges that Alicia is heading up the new firm, confirming Diane’s suspicions. Diane wears a leopard sheath dress. I found three great options for this look, the first an Anne Klein sheath dress ($64.99), the second another Anne Klein dress ($59.40) and the third is a Jones New York dress ($59):
leopard dress

All of this sleuthing doesn’t get in the way of her wedding as she meets up with Kurt to get married at the Justice of the Peace. On her wedding day, Diane goes simple with a long-sleeved black sheath dress and a beautiful firefly brooch. This Diane von Furstenberg Messon dress is a steal at $135 and this firefly brooch is still available on eBay ($24.99):

Alicia bumps into Diane at the end of the episode and Diane doesn’t say a word to her. Alicia brushes it off, but Diane is deciding whether or not to tell Will about Alicia’s betrayal. Alicia wears a grey zip-up blazer in this scene. I found a similar Mossimo blazer ($39.99):

White Collar “At What Price” Recap

I have to admit that one of the reasons I love watching White Collar is for Tiffani Thiessen. Her character Elizabeth Burke is so likeable. For one, her name is Elizabeth (and I love that they call her Elle sometimes – I never thought of that for a nickname), she has a great job as an event planner and she has a classy but fashionable wardrobe that I love. Why should Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) have all the fun?

I thought I would save one more TV spot for White Collar and cover Elizabeth’s wardrobe this season. In the first scene she answers the age-old question of what to wear when you visit your husband in prison? Elizabeth wears a black dress with gold piping. I found three very similar options, the first a Rebecca Taylor sheath dress ($385), the second a Calvin Klein zigzag dress ($86.99) that also comes in a plus size, and the third a Calvin Klein dress with zipper detail ($59.99): gold dress

Neal is finally able to free Peter (Tim DeKay), but to do it he is now under the thumb of the Dutchman who is blackmailing him. This will definitely come back to bite him and he should probably come clean to Peter sooner rather than later. This will only end badly. Elizabeth and Peter have a touching reunion once he gets out of court and is finally free to go home. She wears a black skirt and blazer with a white blouse, black crocodile pumps and a red and black bag.

You can get this look with Nine West’s Charly pumps ($58.99), INC blouse ($72.50), Giani Bernini leather tote ($117.99), Kenneth Cole Drape Front Blazer ($39.99), and the New Directions pencil skirt ($24.99):

Screen Shot 2013-10-29 at 4.11.43 PM

Peter’s instincts are on point; at the end of the episode he confides in Elizabeth that he thinks there is more to the story. He caught on that Neal’s tracker doesn’t seem to be working and although he can’t prove it, he does swap it out for a brand new one. It will be interesting to see how Neal’s new handler will deal with him now that Peter is getting promoted.

Elizabeth wears an orange button up blouse and a beige cardigan. I found an orange button-down crepe blouse from Charlotte Russe ($22.99) and a long-sleeve sweater at Macy’s ($39.99):

Just when you think Neal is keeping his nose clean, he gets pulled back in!
