Five on Friday: March Madness Edition

It’s time for another edition of Five on Friday with A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life BlogHello Happiness and Carolina Charm.

5 on Friday Logo - Final

It’s that time of year again…where everyone goes crazy over college basketball, myself included! I personally root for the University of Michigan: Go Blue! I would love to hear what teams you are rooting for in the tournament. This is also the perfect excuse to shop for your favorite Michigan or college gear. Every time your team advances is another opportunity to show your school spirit. Here are a few of my favorite Michigan items (most of them you can customize to your school):

1. Toms Campus Classics ($48)

Toms has come out with a line of shoes specifically for your favorite college team. These would be perfect to wear to a basketball game or to watch the tourney at a bar with friends.

2. Slater Zorn Stadium Style Collection

Slater Zorn offers a collection where you can pick your team’s colors and get tons of cute clothes and accessories to match. I am partial to this Suite Blouse ($175) because it would be a great transition from work to the bar.

Yankee Candles has a cool set of collegiate candles (unfortunately, no Wolverines candles yet) so I have to post a Spartan candle as an example. But you can choose your school and each has it’s own unique scent.

Nordstrom has a line of collegiate cell phone cases so you can pick one for your favorite team.

March Madness is the perfect time to wear collegiate inspired shoes since you aren’t tailgating in the mud. Ms. Mary Mac creates custom shoes for whatever university you hail from. She has two different styles that you could customize for your school:

5 on Friday: I Love My Husband Edition

It’s time for another edition of Five on Friday with A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life BlogHello Happiness and Carolina Charm.

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

So, I stayed up super late to finish this and for some reason the internet disconnected and none of it saved, ugh! So you, lovely readers, are getting the second version of my Five on Friday, hopefully it is still just as good as the first one. 🙂

1. I Love My Husband T-Shirt ($24.99)

I am loving my Wife After God 30-Day Devotional. My husband loves it to because of all the extra attention he is getting. Both of us have had very busy weeks and it is so awesome to have a reminder to pay extra attention to your marriage. If you are interested in joining me in the devotional, check out my post here. The Unveiled Wife (the woman behind Wife After God) also promotes these great shirts, which I think is the perfect purchase after I finish my 30 days.

2. Kate Spade Kick Up Your Heels iPhone Case ($35.99)

For Christmas, my husband got me a new iPhone 5s (see point 1, lol) and I got the perfect phone case to celebrate getting back in heels.

3. Lilly Pullitzer Tusk in Sun iPad Case

My husband won his fantasy football league and he decided to treat himself to a new iPad with his winnings. After he got his new toy, he gave me his old iPad and I am really excited to have it! (See back to point 1, the hubby is awesome!) I have been eyeing this elephant case with the keyboard – it is so cute! The case is sold out, but you can still find them here on eBay.

4. Good Friends & Good Wine Tray ($29.95)

I am collecting items for my Sip Happens Party next weekend and came across this adorable wine tray from Pier 1 Imports.

Five on Friday: Sip Happens

It’s time for another edition of Five on Friday with A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life BlogHello Happiness and Carolina Charm.

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

In honor of my upcoming Sip Happens Party, I thought I would use today’s Five on Friday post to talk about all of my favorite wine things.

1. Sip Happens Party

I am excited to be part of the Sip Happens Party with Val from Chicken Scratch, Eva Marie Taylor and Erin from Living in Yellow. You can read more below and check out my Sip Happens Party post here.

2. Mahogany Wine Glass Appetizer Plates

These are so cute and perfect for a wine tasting party! They come in a set of four for only $20.

3. Wine Glass Writer Metallic Pens

These would be awesome for a wine tasting. You could write your name on your glass or keep track of what you tried and liked. You get six pens for $19.95 and they wash off in the dishwasher after the party. How cool!

4. Wine Purse

This was my contribution to our Sip Happens Giveaway. I have one and I love it! It is a great carrier and it even comes with a corkscrew for you to use on the go. There are lots of different colors. For my friends in Michigan, you can get them at the Five Fifteen boutique in Royal Oak. Stay tuned for the Giveaway on February 10th.

5. Haley’s Corker

This little contraption is pretty awesome. I started noticing these on my various winery tours. Most of the wineries I went to were using them so that tells you something. This is a 5-in-1 contraption that works as an aerator, filter, pourer, re-corker and stopper. They are pretty inexpensive and are really get the job done. I usually try to pick one up whenever I see it. They are key to any good wine tasting party.

5 on Friday: His Christmas Wish List

It’s time for another edition of Five on Friday with A Liz AdventuresThe Good Life Blog, Hello Happiness and Carolina Charm.

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Since I did my Christmas Wish List a few weeks back, I figured it was only fair that I did one for him. Most of these items would be great for those of you that haven’t shopped for your significant other yet.

1. Shinola Watch

If you aren’t from Michigan, you may not have heard about Shinola yet. Shinola decided to reignite watch manufacturing in the United States and they chose Detroit to launch their business. My husband and I think it is so cool to have such amazing watches made right here in Detroit. For those of you not in Detroit, you can buy Shinola watches at Nordstrom.  My husband really wants the 47mm one below:

2. Dollar Shave Club

So my husband recently joined the Dollar Shave Club. He heard about it from a friend and it is a cool concept. Dollar Shave Club is a subscription service that delivers high quality razors every month. You can get different packages for $1, $6 or $9 depending on your preference. You get 4-5 cartridges each month depending on the plan you choose. You can see the plans here. What a great deal! This basically means that you can use a new razor every week. Ladies you can even get this for yourself, they allow you to add on another person to your account if you would like to. Check out the video for more details:

3. Detroit Tigers Cuff Links

We actually got these for the groomsmen in our wedding party and I love to see the guys wearing them. John wore his to work today and they look really sharp. You can buy them here at Kohl’s. If you aren’t a Detroit fan, don’t worry, they have all of the other teams available too.

4. Personalized Watch Box

My husband loves watches as much as I love shoes. He has a nice collection going now, but could really use a place to keep everything. He’s mentioned getting a box like this for a while and I thought this one would look really nice on his nightstand.

5. Purifying Light Sanitizing Cutting Board System

My husband is a great chef and loves to cook. It’s sort of funny because whenever I try to make something, he is always poking around to see what I’m doing, he can’t help it, he just loves it. The big difference between us is that I have to follow a recipe and he can just make up his own as he goes. He loves gadgets like this and is really big into sanitizing all of the tools in the kitchen (I’m glad he is, because without him I would probably poison us all, lol). These cutting boards are awesome, they have different ones for each type of food and then they are sanitized by 20 minutes of exposure to a UV-C light.
