Five on Friday: House Wish List

We bought our first home last December and although we have settled in, I am still working on decorating it. I didn’t realize how expensive it could be! We have some holiday visitors coming up and are planning to host Thanksgiving dinner which makes me want to cross off a few more items on the house wish list. I thought I would share the next five big items on my list for this week’s Five on Friday.

1. Artcraft Cascade Chrome Bubble Chandelier ($325)

I saw this in a local boutique and fell in love with it. I was going to save up and get it at the store, but they didn’t keep it in stock long enough. Thank goodness I found it online. This will be SO perfect in our dining room and I can’t wait to get it.

Chandelier

2. Skyline Tufted Storage Bench ($234.99)

This is made by the same company as our tufted headboard so it would match perfectly with our bedroom decor. We wanted a bench at the foot of the bed and this is just the thing!

storage bench

3. Bar Cabinet ($249)

We’ve been on the hunt for a liquor cabinet for the other side of our dining room. We already have a great wine cabinet, but there is no place to store any liquor…a.k.a. all the bourbon we got on our recent vacation. John saw this one in the Art Van catalog and its the best one we’ve seen so far. The picture in the catalog had more detail so you could see how the top opened up and you could set it up to serve drinks or store liquor. And we may as well be honest, I could probably use more wine storage anyways, haha!

4. Kimaya Navy Area Rug ($750.03)

We need an area rug for the dining room and I am really stuck on our wedding colors, navy, silver and pearl. We painted the room gray and it has white trim so with the chandelier it would look really elegant.

5. Kate Spade Belle Boulevard China

I really want to finish my china place settings. We have a few pieces from our registry, but I would like to finish my set so I could actually entertain with it for the holidays.

Five on Friday: Champagne Edition

Ladies and gentleman…I must present to you – The Chambong! One of my friends introduced this to me last week and I couldn’t believe my eyes! I feel like this was made just for me as I love champagne! I decided to make this week’s post all about champagne.

Chambong

The Chambong is a mere $25 and is dishwasher safe! Their logo is an elephant named Champy, I don’t really see how this could be any better. I’m definitely getting one for my next party, you can see how it works in this video:

Once you get your Chambong, you must add this Press For Champagne Framed Vintage Button ($92) and yes, it rings.

press for champagne

I found this Champagne Burlap Table Runner ($24) while I was searching for something else and thought it was super cute!

Champagne table runner

I’ve mentioned this Jonathan Adler Champagne Pop Candle ($42) before and it’s still just as awesome! I mean, they describe it as “New Year’s Eve, silk-satin sheets, a million bucks.” They also have vodka and bourbon versions.

Last but not least is a graphic tee, which I love, this Will Wake Up For Champagne Tee ($25). Perfect for brunch and you could dress it up with some fun jewelry. It also comes in gold print.

Which ones are your favorites? And more importantly, will you be trying the Chambong?

Five on Friday: Wine for Your Face

I love my Wine of the Week features, but today I wanted to talk to you about wine for your face…wine beauty products that is! Here are some cool wine beauty products that you can use while drinking wine:

Tony Moly Red Wine Face Mask ($4)

These face masks are really fun and easy to use. Tony Moly has a whole line of different ingredients to try, but the Wine version caught my eye. There are two in a package and you just keep it on your face for 20 minutes. This particular mask is infused with real red wine extracts and rosemary to address enlarged pores while purifying, refining, and tightening skin.

tony moly mask

Coco Cabernet Custom Vinotherapy Mask ($46)

This custom face mask has both wine and chocolate to make it a decadent treat! It comes dry and then you mix it up before you use it.

grapeseed co

Wine Blot Lip Balm ($10)

29 by Lydia Mondavi is aligned with the famous Mondavi name and you can buy the whole line at Target. I thought this lip balm was perfect for the coming colder season. Apparently grape seed extract is 50 times more powerful than Vitamin E when it comes to protecting your skin, so this gives you a lot of bang for your buck.

Italian Red Grape Shampoo ($8.99)

This one isn’t for your face, but close enough. The ingredients include red grapes native to Italy, organic grape extract, resveratrol and red wine extract. These antioxidants act as UV filters to help correct sun damage. Sugar and coconut oil cleansers remove everyday pollutants and organic kelp and nettle extracts add iron, calcium, potassium and other vitamins and miners to help strengthen each strand of hair. They also have a conditioner too!

Red Wine Resveratrol Nourishing Cream ($45)

This cream protects against signs of aging such as environmental damage, lines, wrinkles and loss of elasticity.

Five on Friday: All About Elephants

John and I LOVE elephants. They are beautiful creatures and so sweet. They have a number of similarities to humans and even mourn other elephants in their group. I also love when they hold each other’s tails when walking. Lucky for us one of the zoos close by has elephants and a baby elephant! I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to elephants to I figured I might as well share with you some of my elephant favorites today.

Elephant Succulent Planter ($38)

This would look adorable on my desk!

Elephant Phone Case ($15.99)

This pink case is everything! You can get it in different colors for different phones and the company will fix it free of charge if it breaks for some reason. All of the adornments are vintage pieces from the 60s and 70s which makes me love it even more!

Me and Mama Elephant Sweatshirt ($38)

This is cute and perfect for bumming around at home. It also comes in purple.

Elephant sweatshirt

Elephant Letter Organizer ($22.50)

This would be another great desk addition for all of my papers, or we could use it at home. If you mount it you can use the trunk on the key holder.

Elephant letter holder

Elephants Family Ring ($17)

This mama and baby elephant ring is so sweet.

Friday Favorites: Dog Edition

I introduced the newest member of our family, Sport, in a recent post here. But how could I resist showing you more adorable pictures of this cutie? I had to make this week’s five all about our new pup and the things he loves with some gratuitous pictures thrown in…

National Dog Day

1. Dog Bed ($59.99)

We were in Bed, Bath & Beyond buying pillows and stumbled across this dog bed. Naturally, I wanted to spoil my pup with his own bed and this one is comfy and cozy. Sport loves it and it is very soft.

Sport snuggling in his new bed

2. Crate Set ($150-280)

I saw this on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect for Sport’s crate! Right now we have it in the living room and this crate set would really help it fit in. We also tried to put a blanket on the top of his crate to make it more cave like, but he just ended up pulling it all the way through, so something like this would probably be better.

Crate set

3. Leash Rack ($42.95)

I loved this personalized leash rack for Sport. I already know exactly where to hang it.

Leash Rack

4. Martha Stewart Dog Toys

Sport loves any toy with a squeaker, especially this squirrel from Martha Stewart Pets. We are on his second squirrel, but he also has the rabbit, duck and moose.

5. U of M Pet Collar ($8.99)

I picked mine up at Meijer for something different and Sport looks SO cute in it. His name is “Sport” so he definitely needs various sports themed collars.

I’ll leave you with one more adorable picture of Sport. He likes to lay/sleep hugging his back legs:

I would love to know what your must-have pet items you recommend.

Friday Favorites: Picnic Favorites

I am in the middle of working on an epic summer bucket list that I will be sharing soon, but it made me realize that I am ill-prepared for picnics or outdoor concerts or movies. I figured I would make a list of my picnic favorites for this Friday’s post so I can get ready to have the best summer ever. Here are my must have items:

1. Outdoor Blanket and Tote ($34.99)

I liked this blanket better than some of the other ones I saw because the underside was water resistant. I hate having water seep through your blanket so that spoke to me. I also like how it folds up into a little carrying tote making it easier to get around.

outdoor blanket

2. Meritage Deluxe Insulated Wine and Cheese Tote ($69.99)

I thought this was the perfect way to travel. You can bring two bottles of wine and it includes glasses, cutting board, knife, corkscrew and more. It even has room for cheese and crackers.

wine tote

3. Wine Stakes Set ($13.99)

These are great for outdoor events so you don’t spill your wine everywhere.

wine stakes

4. Off! Deep Woods Insect Repellent Towelettes ($5.49)

John and I are both mosquito magnets so we can’t go halfway on repellents. These Off wipes are just the thing to make sure we can have fun outdoors and not pay for it the following week with mosquito bites.

OFF

5. Malibu Solar Firefly Jar ($16.95)

I like the idea of having some sort of light outdoors, but nothing too bright or intrusive for the activity. I loved the whimsical look of the faux firefly jar.

What are your favorite picnic items? Let me know so I can include them on my summer adventures this year!

Friday Favorites: Fourth Anniversary Edition

Our fourth anniversary is coming up on May 7th and it feels like we’ve been married for much longer than that. I love doing something special to celebrate these moments because all of you married people know that you have to celebrate the wins. Life gets crazy and there is nobody I would rather have as my partner in it all then my dear husband.

So every anniversary I try to stick with the traditional gifts. Year one was the paper anniversary and I made a date book with a pre-planned date for each month of that year. The second year was the cotton anniversary and I got John a really cool Michigan recliner. Unfortunately, that got trashed in our sewage flood last August. I am hoping to replace it when we get the new man cave set up. For year three, the leather anniversary, I got John a pair of Johnston & Murphy leather topsiders that he had been eyeing.

This year, the fourth anniversary, is the fruits & flowers anniversary. This stumped me for a while, I wasn’t really sure what I could do for a gift, but I came up with a few great ideas. On the flip side, I figured I would do my favorites post on some ideas for what to get your wife for the fruits & flowers anniversary in case my dear husband is reading this, haha! Love you babe! Here’s what I came up with:

1. Kate Spade Julie Sandals

I have been eyeing these adorable Kate Spade flower sandals for about six months. How perfect would they be for summer? These are the particular ones that I want.

kate spade julie

2. Meyer Lemon Tree

John and I loved our honeymoon in Italy and we love limoncello. I thought it would be so much fun to commemorate this anniversary with a Meyer Lemon Tree and we could grow them all year round in our own home.

meyer lemon tree

3. Kate Spade Lemon Tree Len

I wanted to get some of the lemon pieces from Kate Spade’s original collection, but missed out. Now I just want this adorable lemon tote!

kate spade lemon street

4. Steve Madden Varrcity Floral Pumps

These are super cute and trendy right now!

5. Wine Cork Holder

Since wine is technically a fruit this still fits in with the theme. I would love to get one of these in our house except I would want mine to change the saying to “Home is Where the Wine Is.”

I would LOVE to hear your ideas for the fruit & flower anniversary!

Friday Favorites: Baseball Edition

I am finally back for a Friday Favorites post! I have been trying to get back on track with these posts and I’m making it happen today. I wanted to do a baseball post in honor of Opening Day. Every year, John and I host our own Opening Day since we can’t go to the official opening day. We are headed out to our first game of the season tomorrow and I couldn’t be more excited! I am a little sad because this is the first year without my favorite player, Derek Jeter. I have been watching him and baseball as long as I can remember. I guess I will have to find a new favorite player this year. In the meantime, I am going to have some fun with these great baseball items:

1. Cause It’s All About That Base Baseball T Shirt ($24.50)

This shirt is so cute! Plus it would give me something to wear to those baseball games where my team isn’t playing.

all about that base

2. MLB Charm Bracelet Watch ($59.95)

This is so darling!

3. Dooney & Burke MLB Crossbody Bag ($128)

How cute and classy is this crossbody bag? The perfect size for a crowded baseball game.

4. 47 Brand MLB Maxi Dress ($73.95)

This is so cute! I have one for college football and love it! This would be perfect for those really hot summer baseball games.

5. MLB 6-Piece Glass Food Container Set ($29.99 each)

Every fan should have one of these for their tailgate!

Friday Favorites: RepliKate Edition

This week, Will and Kate (The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) visited New York. It was fun to watch the coverage of their visit and to follow along with one of my favorite blogs, What Kate Wore, to see what she was wearing during the trip. What Kate Wore has sort of coined the term “RepliKate” to talk about recreating the Duchess’ looks and accessories. My first item on the list today is the perfect RepliKate!

1. Jenny Packham Clutch for Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund ($95)

This clutch is a replica of the Jenny Packham clutch created for Kate Middleton when she attended Our Greatest Team Rises Gala dinner at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2012. Apparently, teal is the color for ovarian cancer awareness. This clutch is the same shape and created in identical silk satin to benefit the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund. How awesome is it that you can get her exact clutch and help out a great cause at the same time!

Jenny Packham

 2. Harvey’s Seatbelt Clutches

Harvey’s Seatbelt bags are big in Detroit. I was going to include them in my Detroit/Michigan gift guide until I found out that the company is actually in California. So I figured I would talk about the new clutches today. I was never a huge fan of their initial bags, but I am loving the new clutches they just came out with. These are much more in line with my style. My current favorites are the Bow Clutch ($88) and the Sydney Clutch ($148):

3. Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

If you’re like me, you stayed up late on Tuesday to watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I am debating doing a longer post about all of the fun items, tips and tricks, but in the meantime I am loving this limited edition Heavenly perfume bottle ($250). It is so decadent and would be a great addition to a vanity table. It would be better if they could refill it for you too!

heavenly

4. Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels ($30)

I first discovered these from a post on Julie Benz’s Instagram page. Julie played Darla on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel and she was also a favorite on Dexter. In her post she said that she swore by these and I found that a lot of other celebrities use them too. These would be great before a big photo session or an event that you want to look your best for. You can get them here at Ulta.

5. Go Go Heel Quick Tips

If you are a hard walker, like me, then you probably wear the tips off of your shoes often. For me, it’s usually the left shoe that needs a tip replacement all the time. I don’t always have time to run to the shoe fixer and I don’t want to ruin my nice shoes. Enter Go Go Heel Quick Tips. These are the perfect solution if you just need a quick fix. The packs come in three different cap sizes and prices range around $7.99. I can’t wait to stock up on these to have on hand! I love that they call them a spare tire for your high heel!
