Five on Friday: Opening Day

Today is Detroit’s Opening Day! What makes today even better is that the Detroit Tigers are playing my beloved New York Yankees, so John and I both have the day off to go to the game. I am so pumped about baseball season this year! I’ve posted my baseball favorites before here and here but today I will share some new fun baseball things that I love.

1. No Crying in Baseball Shirt ($38)

This is so classic and would be great to wear at games where my team isn’t playing.

No crying in baseball

2. Keds Champion – Pennant Sneaker ($54.95)

These are so cute! And the perfect little touch to wear with shorts or cropped jeans.

keds

3. Baseball Legends Shirt ($46)

I’ve mentioned this shirt before and it is perfect for a Yankees fan like me!

Baseball Legends

4. New York Yankees Dog Plush Baseball Bat ($12.95)

Of course Sport needs his own little dog toy and this is festive. Plus it will last a little longer with two squeakers.

5. Talk Baseball to Me Shirt ($29.99)

I absolutely need a new Yankees shirt and I loved how cute this one was.

Bachelor 20 – Week 9 Recap

It’s Week 9…bring on the fantasy suites!

Since things are heating up, we kick off the week with some long stares and statements about how Jamaica is a beautiful place to fall in love. Lauren and JoJo are in sync in their Victoria’s Secret Robes. Lauren’s is the Satin Kimono in Blue Water ($49.50):

Kimono Wrap

JoJo’s Satin Kimono ($59.50) is a little different with lace cut outs on the shoulders.

Satin Kimono

Caila was up first and the date got off to a bumpy start. She also wore a bathing suit crop top as and outfit…although if I had her abs, I would wear that every day. Unfortunately, I can only help you with the swimsuit, not the abs. Caila wore the Billabong Gypsy Dreamin’ Crop Halter Bikini Top ($54.95) with a Madewell Mini Geochain Necklace ($30):

Billabong

Lauren’s date is up next and if it’s possible she may have worn even less than Caila. I absolutely could not pull off those shorts so I won’t even try. They did have the cutest date helping to send baby turtles into the wild. Before they headed off to the fantasy suite, Lauren told Ben that she loved him and SURPRISE! he said it back! Let’s just wrap it up right there people…

Last but not least, JoJo looked smokin’ hot in her Indah Sisi Bikini Top. I was floored when Ben told JoJo that he also loved her (WHAT?)!!! Her specific color is no longer available, but you can get it here in black for $55:

Indah

I am stunned that Ben just went out there and said the “L” word to two women. Somebody is truly going to get hurt, which is sad. After watching this episode, it’s obvious who that will be. I loved JoJo’s evening maxi dress, the Ecote Deluxe Daisy Maxi Dress from Urban Outfitters. It’s in pounds so about $100 US. This BB Dakota Larissa Black and White Floral Print Maxi Dress ($99) is somewhat similar:

Urban Outfitters Maxi

Once in the fantasy suite, JoJo pulls out another rockin’ bikini look with with Vitamin A Swimwear Kylie Triangle Top ($59.99):

Vitamin A Swimwear

Caila stops to surprise Ben and he ends up setting her home. Caila seems surprised, but I think she is better off in the end.  She wore the same Billabong Gypsy Dreamin’ Crop Halter Bikini Top ($54.95) which is reversible and a sold out Bay View Skirt from Athleta. They also make a similar Pura Vida Midi Skirt ($54):

Athleta

At the least dramatic rose ceremony, both women get roses and we are left to wonder how Ben can actually be in love with two women. JoJo is looking amazing in her Bebe Deep V Midi Dress ($129)! Since her pattern is no longer available I found this additional ASOS Deep Plunge Rose Midi Scuba Body-Conscious Dress ($68) that has the same floral feel:
Bebe

Lauren arrives and also surprises Chris Harrison by telling him that Ben is in love with her too! I’m not sure if he knew that before the girls showed up, but the audience was definitely surprised. Lauren wore the High Tide Maxi from Blue Life ($154):

There you have it…our final two ladies!

Bachelor 20 – Week 8 Recap

We have arrived at hometown dates this week and get to see our women in their natural habitats (ha!). First up is Amanda in Orange County, California, who decides to introduce Ben to her children. She wore a sold out Vallarta Shoulder Bell Sleeve Top from Swell. This shirt drove me crazy because it was falling off of her the whole time. I would have had a wardrobe malfunction for sure. I found this Socialite Off-Shoulder Long Sleeve Woven Blouse ($24.97) which had some straps to help this stay up.
Swell

Next up is Lauren’s hometown date in Portland, Oregon and they have a fun date eating street food and going to a whiskey library (this is my kind of date!). Lauren wore a sold out Check Pocket Front Shirt and Quilted Leather Jacket both from Zara. Fun fact: Kate Middleton has also worn this shirt. I found a similar Tartan Plaid Shirt from Forever 21 ($17.90) and Dawn Levy 2 Women’s Quilted Leather Moto Jacket ($115.72) to recreate this look:

Zara

Lauren’s sister Mollie stole the show with her oversized cardigan from Target (sold out). Target makes a similar Mossimo version ($29.99) to get her look. Maybe we’ll see Mollie on a future season of the show…

Mossimo

Caila is third with a hometown in Hudson, Ohio where we discover that she is the heir to the Step2 throne. She and Ben build a child’s playhouse and re-enact An Officer and a Gentleman. Caila wore a High-Low Turtleneck ($29.95) from Anthropologie, a JCrew Excursion Quilted Down Vest ($99.99), and H&M Slim-Fit Pants ($19.99). Since most of these only have limited sizes and colors left, I recreated the look with an AQUA Cable High Low Sweater ($49.50), Tommy Hilfiger Quilted Vest ($99.99), and DKNY Jeans City Faux Leather Skinny Jean ($59.95):

Anthropologie

JoJo is last in Dallas, Texas and she has a surprise waiting from her ex-boyfriend. This was silly and totally contrived by producers. It wasn’t even a storyline throughout the season and they barely spent five minutes on it which was just weird. JoJo looked fantastic in her Kristin Cavallari Laurel Peep Toe Booties ($149.95):

Kristin Cavallari

At the rose ceremony JoJo looked STUNNING. That dress was definitely worth a rose. It is sold out from La Femme, but I found a similar Rise Of Dawn Bodycon Dress from Forever 21 ($89). She wore Teardrop Earrings from Nadri ($44):

La Femme

Amanda wore a For Love & Lemons Lyla Cocktail Dress ($246):

For Love and Lemons Lyla

Unfortunately, Amanda was sent home this week, maybe we will see her again in Paradise…

Tips for Wearing the Trendiest Spring Looks

Spring fashion is upon us, which usually means showing a little more skin in order to beat the heat. Shorts, rompers, crop tops, tank tops, and other styles are usually wildly popular during this time, and there’s no reason why curvy women can’t partake in the latest trends, too. Not only can plus size women rock these styles with a few helpful tips on accessorizing and flattering your figure, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to let your confidence shine. Below I’ve provided a few ideas on how to wear these trends that I hope you’ll enjoy and find useful as the temperatures begin to rise.

WomanWithin

A pair of nice shorts should be a staple in every woman’s spring wardrobe. Not only are they versatile, as they can be dressed up or dressed down, but they look sophisticated and classy, too. Choose a nautical-inspired pair, or opt for something loose and scalloped for a feminine look. Whatever you pick, wearing your shorts with a pair of wedges or even the slightest of heels doesn’t have to be awkward, according to BuzzFeed, and they will help elongate your legs.

Rompers, like shorts, can also be paired with heels, but they look just as great with lace-up sandals. The typical cut of a romper is usually loose and forgiving, no matter your size, and can be easily accessorized to flatter your figure. Pair with a statement necklace if you want to draw the eye up to your bust and face, or pair with a wide belt to accentuate your hourglass figure. Complement your romper with a cardigan for cool spring nights and continue to experiment with layers until you get the look just right.

Woman Within’s goal is to “make it easy for you to love what you wear,” and tank tops are definitely topping that list. It’s all about feeling comfortable, and there are many ways to achieve this thanks to layering techniques. If you’d rather not bare your arms, then look for a short sleeve shrug or cardigan to top your tank. Or maybe you’re concerned about your waist or tummy area, which can actually be solved by tucking tanks into high-waisted bottoms, like jeans, shorts, and one of our favorites—a billowing maxi skirt.

And let’s not forget about the crop top. StyleCaster shares how curvy chicks and any body shape can rock a crop top. High-waisted skirts, shorts, and pants are any crop-top wearer’s best friend because it’s just not cool to even show your navel anymore. Keep in mind that the tummy sliver is the latest trend and can be achieved with a crop top off the shelf, or by making your own by knotting a T-shirt you already own.

The important thing to remember is that the way many of these trends are actually worn has changed drastically since they first emerged. No longer does the crop top get paired with super-low rise jeans like we saw in the ’90s. Today, many of the most sought-after crop tops only show a hint of belly, making the look much more modest. Shorts no longer have to put your cheeks on display in order to be in style, and rompers are the best thing since sliced bread, as far as effortless chic is concerned, so why hesitate? I say wear what you love and enjoy the process, no matter your size!

Bachelor 20 – Week 7 Recap

This week, Ben brings the girls to his hometown of Warsaw, Indiana to get to know him a little more. As the girls arrive, Emily wore a Faux Leather Jacket from Blank NYC ($98) and this Free People Paint The Sky Rosary Necklace ($38). This Salene Moto Jacket ($59.90) is similar:

BlankNYC

Lauren wore a Babaton Beekman Sweater from Aritzia ($145):

Aritzia

As you may have noticed from my recent post, I love graphic tees and JoJo’s is no different. I loved her MinkPink “Don’t Quote Me” shirt ($32.90):

MinkPink

Lauren got the first one-on-one date this week and Ben took her to volunteer at the local youth center where he spent a lot of time. Lauren wore a sold out Majestic Waterfall Knit Cardigan. I thought this Bobeau Waterfall Fleece ($60) was similar:

Waterfall Cardigan

JoJo gets the next one-on-one date and Ben takes her to Chicago and they spend some time at Wrigley Field. At dinner JoJo wore a cozy sweater. This LAmade Women’s Oversized Cowl Neck Cable Sweater Top ($76.13) is similar:

Slouchy Sweater

Next up is a three-on-one with Amanda, Becca and Caila. Amanda got the rose from Ben and a hometown date guarantee. Amanda wore a Kendra Rayne Stone Tassel Pendant Necklace in Mother of Pearl ($80):

Kendra Scott Rayne Mother of Pearl

Emily had the final one-on-one with Ben. You couldn’t help but love her zest for life in this episode, its unfortunate that we just saw her personality start shining through on her last episode. Ben ultimately sends Emily home. It was obvious that she wasn’t on the same page as Ben.

At the rose ceremony Lauren wore a Jessica Simpson Zippered Boucle Wool Blend Coat ($159). This Via Spiga Women’s Wool Coat with Knit Collar ($59.04) is similar:

Ben ended up letting Becca go home this week because their relationship wasn’t progressing as fast as the other ones.  Next up – hometown dates!

March 2016 Pinspired

I used to participate in a fun linkup called Pinspired, where you recreate a look you found on Pinterest. This was one of my favorite monthly posts to write so I decided that I would start it up again. Here is a fun look I found on Pinterest that I would love to wear for spring. Now don’t get me wrong, I definitely wouldn’t wear a crop top to work, but I definitely loved the pop of color and kept coming back to this image. Here is the original Pin.

Fashion 101

I found a similar style skirt first that I will use to style the rest of the outfit around. Because this skirt has a few colors, we could change up the top to create a few different looks. The skirt I found is a Pencil Skirt from Charter Club for $59.50:

Charter Club Skirt

I found two different color blouses to compliment this skirt, so you decide which color is your favorite. Or get both for a completely different look. The first is this Vince Camuto Wrap Front V-Neck Blouse in Guava Fruit ($79) and the second is this Target Women’s Short Sleeve V-Neck Blouse in Bright Purple ($44.99):

Blouse

Next up are the bags. I also wanted to have fun with the colors on this, figuring you could mix it up. I found this Valentino Bag in Violet ($299.99) and this Kate Spade Cedar Street – Maise Satchel in Flo Geranium ($223.50):

satchels

For the shoes, I found these fun Nine West Sweet as Pie T-Strap Sandals ($89):

PG.SWEETASPIEX5.JJ158A1.PZ

I felt like I also needed to add a pump style shoe since I would probably wear this outfit to work and strappy sandals aren’t really work appropriate. I like these Nine West Tornaydo Pointy Toe Pumps ($89):

PG.NWTORNAYDO.JJ3JESY.PZ

I am thrilled with this look! I can’t wait to get all the pieces and rock this look in the office. I absolutely LOVE the bright colors.

Five on Friday: Green Edition

I figured I would have a little fun with today’s post and share some green pieces in case you want to add a pop of color to your wardrobe this St. Patrick’s Day. Here are a few items you could wear on Thursday or any day:

1. Kate Spade Small Square Studs ($38)

These are one of my favorites, I already have them in five different colors but not green!

kate spade studs

2. Tahari ASL Inverted -Collar Blazer ($71.99)

My boss has a green blazer and the pop of color always looks so great. I liked this version because I hate buttoning my jacket and I love the sleeve length.

Tahari Blazer

3. Nine West Qtpie ($89)

I love having crazy shoes in different colors because I wear a lot of black. Shoes make it easy to change up your look.

Nine West

4. Eliza J Pintucked Waist Seamed Ponte Knit Fit & Flare Dress ($98)

I’ve mentioned this dress before because I love the fit and flare! It’s a great piece for work.

Eliza J

5. Urban Expressions Lizzie Envelope Clutch ($29.97)

If all else fails, throw in a green clutch and you are good to hit the bars and try some green beer.

What green pieces will you rock this St. Patrick’s Day?

Bachelor 20 – Week 6 Recap

We pick up where we left off from last week with the Rose Ceremony. Olivia is saved for another week, but Jennifer is sent home. Ben then announces that they are traveling to the Bahamas.

This week there will be a one-on-one date, a group date, and a two-on-one date (yikes!). Becca reads the first date card announcing that Caila will get the one-on-one date. Becca wore the Show Me Your Mumu Rocky Romper ($146):

Show Me Your Mumu Rocky Romper

Emily and Olivia end up getting the dreaded two-on-one date and now we can clearly see that everything has been leading up to this moment. In her ITM, Emily wore a Hello Molly Adam and Eve Romper ($55):

Hello Molly

Aside from being annoying (because crying will absolutely get you a rose), Leah wore a cool looking crochet bathing suit on the group date. This Acacia Panama Top ($115) is similar.

Becca wore a Show Me Your Mumu Peta Tunic – Aztec ($124):

After the awkward group date, the girls regrouped for a more awkward evening date. Amanda wore the For Love and Lemons Precioso Mini Dress ($194). They also have a version with sleeves in this San Marcos Mini Dress ($194):

For Love and Lemons

Becca gets her alone time and Ben is concerned that Becca shut down on the group date. Becca wore the Jumbo Cairo Ear Jackets from Bauble Bar ($32):

Leah knows her number is up this week and she decides to waste her time trying to damage Ben’s relationship with Lauren. Just a tip Leah, Ben was always going to pick Lauren over you. Lauren wore the sold out Saturday Night Romper from Lucy Paris and Steve Madden’s PLMBEACH Wedges ($99.95). ASTR’s Lace Trim Romper ($76) is similar:

Saturday Night Romper

JoJo looks great as always in a sold out Chellah Set from Sabo Skirt. This Grey Sleeveless Crochet Lace Maxi Dress from Romwe ($27.49) gives you a similar look in that great color:

Sabo Skirt

Leah’s plan backfired on her and Ben sent her home. Good riddance, she obviously couldn’t handle it. This leads us to our two-on-one date with Emily and Olivia. Emily wore the Bikini Lab Women’s Fringe Ferdinand Bralette ($29.95):

Fringe Top

The two-on-one date was brutal, with Olivia being sent home after she was so confident she was going to be the last one standing. All the girls were insecure leading up to the rose ceremony as it was unclear who Ben was going to send home this week.

JoJo wore the sold out Muse Maxi Dress from Sabo Skirt. This Nemidor Crochet Top Grey Maxi Long Lace Dress ($22.49) is similar:

Sabo Maxi

In the end, Ben sent home Lauren H. our Michigan girl. She was classy the whole time through, I hope we see her again soon!

Five on Friday: Graphic Tees

I have a love affair with graphic tees. I think they are so fun and a great way to express your personality. They are the perfect thing to wear to brunch with the girls. Here are a few of my favorite graphic tees at the moment:

1. Mimosas Made Me Do It ($29.95)

I am becoming obsessed with Prep Obsessed. They have the cutest stuff! This shirt inspired today’s post and I have the perfect necklace to wear with it.

mimosas made me do it

2. Time to Drink Champagne ($29)

I LOVE this one! It’s from Posh Boutique, which I’ve mentioned before.

3. Baseball Legends ($46)

Bachelor 20 – Week 5 Recap

It’s week five, and as Ben reminds us we are at the halfway point. Even without reading the spoilers we can definitely see Ben falling for a few of these ladies. Amanda gets the first one-on-one date in Mexico City. Ben wakes up the girls from a dead sleep and Amanda wakes up looking perfect, she obviously had a heads up to get ready in advance. My hair doesn’t look that good normally. Amanda wore a sold out Off-The-Shoulder Gaze Top. This H.I.P. Off The Shoulder Women’s Peasant Top ($19.99) is similar:

Gaze Top

On the evening portion of the date, Amanda got a rose from Ben and she wore the same for For Love & Lemons Noir Mini Dress ($224) that Leah wore at the rose ceremony last week.

Love and Lemons2

On the group date, Becca wore the Show Me Your Mumu Country Garden Romper (sold out). This ELAN Floral Romper ($69) is similar:

Jennifer wore the sold out Amanda Uprichard Perry Maxi Dress. I found this similar Sugarlips Hot to Trot Dress ($59) to recreate the look:

Amanda wore the sold out Stone Cold Fox Iowa Dress. This similar Bonita Dress ($308) from Stone Cold Fox is a great match:

Lauren B. wore an Eyes of Simone Jasmine Crochet Dress ($78).

This week ended on a cliffhanger, with Ben pulling Olivia aside to chat before the rose ceremony and we are left to wait until the following week to find out who goes home.

Jubilee was sent home during the group date, well to be fair she pretty much eliminated herself by pulling back from Ben.

In the deleted scenes this week, the ladies find out that they are headed to Mexico City:

In this scene, Ben and Amanda have a pinata party:
