The new Star Wars trailer came out last week and I am PUMPED! I cannot wait to see The Force Awakens on December 18. I’m always looking for new fun Star Wars items and figured now was the perfect time to make a new list. If you haven’t seen the trailer, check it out below:

1.Star Wars Princess Leia Buns Knit Beanie Hat ($17.99)

I love this for Michigan winters! I could definitely see myself wearing this to the premiere!

3.Darth Vader Sweatshirt ($22.99)

I found a lot of fun stuff, but decided that since the movie is coming out in December, I would feature the stuff that I could actually wear this winter. This sweatshirt is so cute and you can get it at Target!

No theme this week, but just some fun things I’ve stumbled across.

1. Michael Kors ‘Bailey’ Chronograph Bracelet Watch

I mentioned last week that our anniversary was on May 7th. Well John completely surprised me and got me this gorgeous watch! I have to get a link taken out of it, but cannot wait to wear it. I am a lucky girl!

2. Givenchy Antigona Large Floral-Print Shopper Bag ($1145)

One of my students strolled into class with this unbelievable bag. I immediately got all of the details and decided that I had to have it. Well that was until I saw the price…definitely not in my price range. Givenchy has a number of items in this floral line that I just love!

3. Forever 21 Romantic Rose Tote ($16.80)

I tried to find a look for less for the Givenchy bag and this Forever 21 bag was the best I could do. Definitely more affordable.

4. Michael Kors Hamilton Spray Tote ($297.99)

On my hunt for the look for less, I also stumbled across these beauties. So adorable for summer!

5. Junk Food Star Wars Tank ($20)

In honor of May 4th (May the Fourth Be With You) I thought I would pick up something Star Wars themed. I LOVE Star Wars and this tank is perfect. Junk Food also has a variety of different shirts in case that one doesn’t strike your fancy.

Mistresses “The Morning After” Recap

The second episode of Mistresses was just as hot and juicy as the first one. Each of the characters is dealing with the issues that came up last week.

Savi

The affair with Dominic is taking its toll on Savi and she is taking it out on everyone else. Savi tells Karen and April that she cheated on Harry. Karen is very understanding, but April doesn’t want to hear it. Karen advises her to figure out why she cheated before she thinks about telling Harry. Savi was much too quick to tell April about her affair and should have kept it to herself.

Savi waited all day to talk to Dominic and insists that their affair was a mistake. I find this funny because “the lady doth protest too much.” He reminds her that she kissed him.

You can get Savi’s grey shirtdress look from Adrianna Papell ($118):

Harry finally makes time to apologize to Savi, but she has to cut it short when Dominic pops in (AWKWARD!).

She has on a Tahari jacket that was modified by the costume designer. You can visit Possessionista for the full details and you can get the full suit for $179.99:

Savi meets with Mrs. Gray again and sets the scene for future investigation into his death. Savi knows that she assisted Tom in his suicide, but Mrs. Gray doesn’t tell her the truth.

Savi and Harry finally get to resolve their issues about having a baby and decide to put it on hold for a while. She chickens out of telling him about her indiscretion and they have makeup sex.  Dominic calls her, but she ignores the call.

Joss

For most of the episode, Joss works hard to help Savi and Harry reconcile. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know the whole story.

Joss is still working with her clients Alex and Sally to find a home. She meets Alex for lunch and convinces her to check out a newly listed home.

I didn’t even notice Joss’ magazine clutch until OnScreenStyle pointed it out. It is a really cool piece and I definitely need to get one! You can get this one on Etsy for $58.50:

Joss takes Alex on a new home tour that seems to hold a lot of kinky surprises. This doesn’t phase Alex who is apparently versed in the art of Japanese bondage. There is some heavy foreshadowing going on between the two of them here.

Joss wears a hot pink bodycon dress. As a professional, I’m not sure that I would wear something this form-fitting to show houses, but it seems to work for her. I found this hot pink Jones New York Dress for $64.99 that would work for me:

We later see Joss trying out her new bondage trick with the latest boy toy. Alex calls and it sounds like things are a little better with her and Sally, but Joss leaves her man tied up while getting all the details.

As a Star War nerd, I LOVE Joss’ oversized vintage Star Wars shirt! I found this similar one from Junk Food for $30 which I need ASAP:

April

April is freaking out about her Paul’s infidelity and asks the girls to meet with her. Savi advises her to investigate this woman because the timing is interesting. The other woman has shown up only after April received the insurance check. We find out that the other woman’s name is Miranda and Savi’s research seems to back up her story. The more April looks into it, the more she can’t deny that it’s true.

April wears a floral peasant top from Ellen Tracy. I found this floral top from Michael Kors ($55.65), which is a lot brighter but gives you a similar look:

April finally decides to confront Miranda and finds out that she is in fact looking for money.

Karen

Karen is still dealing with Tom’s son Sam. He is nothing but persistent. Savi gives her good advice to stay away from him, but she doesn’t take it. She wants to face the problem head on and agrees to have coffee with Sam.

Karen wears a beautiful floral Karen Millen Dress, you can get the look with this Mirror Floral Print Dress from Asos in Regular and Curve sizes ($76.36):

Karen has a good talk with Sam over coffee and seems to wrap everything up before he goes to college. He spills coffee on her two tone peplum dress, which is a shame because it was adorable. I found something similar from Anne Klein ($129). You have to pair this with the orange belt ($29.99); it really makes the look:

Tom’s insurance investigator meets with Karen and could she have acted more suspicious? He leaves, but not before he mentions checking out her paperwork, which we saw her shred in Episode 1. She was wearing a leopard chiffon dress, which I couldn’t find but I did find a professional leopard dress from Rebecca Taylor ($89.99) that would flatter anyone:

Sam stops by her office to offer to pay for her dry cleaning, but she blows up and throws him out. She could have gotten rid of him without hurting his feelings like that. She just had to hang on long enough until he left for college.

The City of Love

To kick off this blog I thought I would start by recapping our 2nd anniversary celebration. This seemed fitting to me because I first wanted to start a blog when we got engaged to chronicle the wedding, and then again after we were married to chronicle our newlywed adventures. I figured four years later, I’m finally going to do it!

My husband and I were married on May 7, 2011 so this was our second anniversary aka “the cotton anniversary.” We got married on the 7th because my birthday is July 7 and his is August 7 and we thought it would be cool if all of our big dates were 7-7-7 (21 in blackjack which I am obsessed with). Now in the future if we can make sure all of our kids are born on the 7th that would be pretty cool.

We got engaged in Toledo, Ohio (I will share our engagement story in another post) and ever since have jokingly called it “The City of Love.” We usually  go back there once a year to celebrate our anniversary and try to do a similar trip.

This year was even more exciting because we hadn’t been back since they opened the new casino and it was Star Wars weekend (yes, I’m a nerd, I know)!

Our trip started on Friday night after work. Toledo is only about an hour drive from us so it is a nice little trip. We stayed at the same hotel we did when we got engaged and they really rolled out the red carpet for us. When we were checking in I mentioned that we had got engaged there four years ago and that we were hoping to get a corner room similar to the one we had before.

They did better than that, they got us the exact same room!! I didn’t even realize that they kept records that far back. The room number was 1023, John said he would never forget it. Kudos to The Best Western Toledo  -they went above and beyond for us the entire weekend and made it really special.

After that we decided to head on over to the new Hollywood Casino for some grub and blackjack. The first thing I noticed about the casino was that it was smoke free which was just awesome! We had dinner at Scene, a sports bar restaurant and then proceeded to lose our shirts at blackjack. Oh well, we still had a great time.

We were so excited for Saturday because it was May 4 aka “May the Fourth Be With You.” We had tickets to go to the Toledo Mudhens game which was a Star War theme. The players were wearing special jerseys and they had their first fireworks of the season, set to Star Wars music. Even though they lost, we had a great time!

After the game, we came back to our room and did a special anniversary toast with our toasting glasses from the wedding. We opened a bottle of champagne that I had been saving from our honeymoon. We bought it from the Murgo Winery in Sicily at the bottom of Mt. Etna and it was delicious!

Cheers to us!

Cheers to us!

On Sunday, we made our way to the Toledo Zoo to see the elephants! My husband and I love elephants and the Toledo Zoo has a baby elephant named Lucas. We got to see their revamped African exhibit and we even got to see feeding time – it was so cool! The zoo also had two baby polar bear cubs that were about five months old. They were just darling.

We had a wonderful time and if it’s possible fell more in love, in the city of love.

Happy Anniversary!
