Mistresses “Friends With Benefits” Recap

In this week’s episode, we discover that the guy who came to see Savi (Alyssa Milano) is really Zack Kilmer (Jason Gerhardt) the other person from her accident. I didn’t see that one coming, but what Savi does need is another man in her life (insert sarcasm here).

I was happy to see that they finally addressed some of the things that had happened last season, Savi’s accident and Karen’s (Yunjin Kim) trauma.

We also see Savi start to go down a dangerous path with Dom (Jason George) and that April’s (Rochelle Aytes) new man has a secret!

Can we all just agree that Karen makes the worst decisions, is she trying to be an escort now? (Throws hands up in the air!) For an accomplished professional, she is sort of dumb.

Aside from that rant, here are some of my favorite looks from this episode:

Savi

When she meets Zack, Savi is wearing a cozy Drapey Lux Cardigan from Splendid ($108). This Kische Open Front Cardigan is only $44, if you want a similar look for less:

splendid cardigan

Savi and Dom decide to come out to HR about their relationship. This is also the first time she lies to Dom about buying tickets for Joss’ birthday. I went back and forth on her skirt and decided that I liked it for a Fall look. It was the Michael Kors Wool-Silk Ikat Pencil Skirt in Rose/Leaf/Black ($271 – 70% off!) or more sizes here.

Karen

Karen tries to start dating again, but is unfortunately thwarted by Google, when blind dates can find out about her scandal from last year. She looks great in a green halter dress! I couldn’t find the exact dress, but I found a similar London Times Ikat Chevron Halter Blouson Dress for $79:

green halter

Joss

Joss (Jess Macallan) puts all of her eggs in one basket and buys a table at a charity event to try to network for clients. That was a big gamble! Harry’s (Brett Tucker) girlfriend ends up setting her up with a blind date without her knowledge and it gets sort of awkward. At least she looked fabulous for the first date. Her red satin dress was va-va voom! This Trumpet/Mermaid Sweetheart Court Train Satin Evening Dress from Dress First ($155.99) should do the trick for a similar look:

red satin dress

Following their date, Scott (Justin Hartley) sends Joss a puppy! First of all who does that? Second of all, what company lets someone do that. You don’t even know if that person can even care for a puppy! Anyways, she was wearing a cute C’est La Vie Top that is unfortunately sold out. I found another C’est La Vie Tank from Hot Topic for $16.40:

cest la vie

Mistresses “Open House” Recap

This episode was mostly filler, I think the most exciting part was Jacob (Matthew Del Negro) finally revealing that he had feelings for Karen (Yunjin Kim), but there were plenty of fashion options that I liked on this episode, so that made up for it.

Here are my favorites:

Savi

During Savi’s (Alyssa Milano) open house she wears a sold-out color tipped pink blouse from Vince. I found this NYDJ Georgette 3/4 Blouse ($89) to replicate this look: vince In dealing with Toni (Rebeka Montoya) Savi wears the sold-out Marissa Webb Sonia Top. This Vince Camuto Lace Blouse ($99) is similar: marissa webb Harry (Brett Tucker) and Savi are trying to sell their house, but Harry won’t talk to Savi and are having trouble closing the deal. Savi wears the Joie Marru blouse in a great periwinkle color. I love this blouse and have one in white! Since that color is sold out you can get the same style in other colors here. I found a great H&M look for less with this Satin Blouse ($24.95): joieSavi is finally dealing with the repercussions of her actions and I have to say, I don’t really feel bad for her. I’m not sure what she expected from Harry after she cheated on him and ruined their marriage. She wore a Vince Draped Satin Wrap Blouse ($92) in this scene: vince draped

Karen

Karen has a morning coffee with Joss (Jess Macallan) and wears a pink Vince Contrast Placket Blouse ($169). I thought this Tanks to You Top from Modcloth ($29.99) was a great black on pink look for less: pink and black On Karen’s first date back, she wears a sold-out Reiss Hermione Black Folded Layer Dress. This Victoria’s Secret Asymmetric Shift Dress is the perfect match for only $49.50: reiss asymmetric

Joss

Joss meets up with Karen to dish about her date. I really liked her sold-out Band of Gypsies Print Chiffon Kimono Jacket. I thought this Blue Sakura Print Kimono Sunscreen Chiffon Coat for $18.13 was a good alternative: kimono

When Joss runs into Savi, she wears a J Valdi Zig Zag Swim Cover Up ($21.60): jsaldi

April

April (Rochelle Aytes) is charged with hosting a parent party for her daughter’s school and her new gay best friend comes up with a painting party with half-naked men serving drinks. You can get April’s Vince Camuto Printed Halter Maxi Dress for $90.99: floral maxiApril has a meet-the-parents date with her daughter’s new friend’s parents. It gets awkward when the dad turns out to be someone she went on a coffee date with and he is married! I loved her dress in this scene. It is black with little flowers, so cute! I thought this Floral Print Strappy Cut-Out Maxi Dress from Charlotte Russe ($29.99) would be a good recreation: black floral

Toni

Toni is the kind of girl that you need to keep close so you can make sure to be one step ahead of her. She is a great dresser and I loved her Ted Baker Jamthun Zip-Front Jamthun Zip-Front Peplum Dress ($295). This ASOS Midi Body-Conscious Dress with Sweetheart Neck and Peplum ($47.64) is a good look for less:

Mistresses “Boundaries” Recap

In the second episode, Savi (Alyssa Milano) heads back to work,  Joss (Jess Macallen) goes into business with Harry (Brett Tucker), April (Rochelle Aytes) starts her affair with the sexy, smoldering artist and Karen (Yunjin Kim) has to face Elizabeth Grey (Penelope Ann Miller) one last time.

I wasn’t too impressed with Joss’ wardrobe this episode and Savi’s was about 50/50, but there were a few pieces that I liked.

Savi

Savi’s back-to-work skirt is the Marisa Webb Viktoria Skirt ($289). This DKNY Pencil Skirt is similar for less ($98.99):

marisa webb

Savi’s Robyn Rhodes Mona Necklace ($59) was fabulous:

April

I love April’s zig zag wrap dress. Possessionista found this look alike from Katya ($32). I also found this version from Maggy London for $108:

Mistresses “Rebuild” Recap

The second season premiere of Mistresses wasn’t exactly what I expected and neither was the wardrobe. I was a little disappointed that they completely skipped over what happened to Savi (Alyssa Milano) and the baby…as well as Karen (Yunjin Kim). I feel like they are trying to restart the show by just wiping clean everything that happened last season and moving on to other story lines. We’ll see what happens in the next few episodes.

The most important part of the show, the fashion, was interesting. There were some great hits and then there were some awful pieces that made me cringe. I am only going to focus on my favorite pieces of the premiere, but if there was something else you had to have, let me know.

Karen Kim

I loved the opening scene with Karen’s hot Christian Louboutin Filo Pumps ($795). If you’re not ready to commit to a pair of Louboutins yet, try these Pour La Victoire Women’s Irina Platform Pump ($42.84):

Screen Shot 2014-06-24 at 10.58.50 PM

Karen’s Flower Print Blue Shift Dress from Zara may be sold out, but this Blue Sleeveless Floral Bodycon Dress knockoff from SheInside is a perfect match ($16.67):

Karen wears the sold-out Evangeline dress by Reiss for the art show. I found a similar Lace Paneled Bodycon Dress from Forever 21 ($15.80):

reiss

Savi Davis

Savi looks great in the opening scene and we realize that she pulled through. Her red maxi dress is by Splendid ($118). If that is out of your price range, try this Forever 21 version for $12.80:

Savi wore a Vince Paper Leather Vest ($479). I found this Laser Cut Faux Leather Moto Vest ($49.99) from The Limited for a similar look:

For Savi’s brief appearance at the art show, she wore a Haute Hippie Asymmetrical Side Tuck Dress ($485). This Heather Women’s Asymmetric Surplice Dress ($30.94) is similar:

As Savi is trying to get her Om on, she wears the Plush Marled Sweater Leggings ($84):

Joss Carver

I loved Joss’ (Jes Macallan) ALC Savile leather-trimmed calf hair jacket, which you can rent here. You can get the look for less with this Contrast Trimming Leopard Print Jacket ($31.39):

Joss’ gift to herself for almost landing the Punky Brewster account is this Helmut Lang Wither Leather Jacket ($941.50). I found this BB Dakota Tyne Leather Jacket for $286 to get a look for less:

Joss wears fabulous red Jeffrey Campbell Barnes Booties ($99.96) while she talks to Harry (Brett Tucker):

jeffrey campbell April Malloy

I like about half of April’s (Rochelle Aytes) clothes. I don’t really have a bohemian style, but she makes it look effortless. I liked this open weave cardigan she wore at the beginning of the episode and found a similar Democracy Crochet Sweater Cardigan ($78):

Screen Shot 2014-06-30 at 3.10.09 PM

At the art show, April wore this awesome Whiskey Leather Biker Jacket from Zara ($249):

Mistresses “Payback” Recap

Savi (Alyssa Milano) gathers the girls to come clean about everything. I can’t help feeling that she did all of this to make herself feel better. What would it have hurt to wait for the paternity results – she may not have needed to say anything at all. She hasn’t come clean with her sister Joss (Jess Macallen) and Joss will no doubt be hurt that she was the last to know. April (Rachelle Aytes) divulges that she slept with Richard (Cameron Bender) in the store.

Joss wears a sold out Cynthia Steffe Red Alana Vneck Colorblock Sheath Dress. Cynthia Steffe has a similar dress here for $136.80 and New Direction has a $59.99 option here.

Karen (Yunjin Kim) stays to reminisce with Savi about their history together. She gives Savi good advice to give Harry time and let him come to her. Karen wears a black skirt and a green Theory blouse (sold out). I found a similar Halogen Tie-Neck Blouse ($44):

theory top

Savi

Savi doesn’t take her advice (shocker) and goes to the restaurant to see Harry and try to find out when he’s coming home. It didn’t go very well and she didn’t get much of a response from Harry. She should have just left it alone – this isn’t something she can fix overnight. She goes into work and tells Dom (Jason George) that she is pregnant (DUMB!) and that the baby is Harry’s.

Savi again goes to visit Harry – she is really pushing things and it is sort of annoying. She just dumped a lot of stuff on Harry and she doesn’t even give him a day to digest the information. She tells him that she will quit her job for him and accuses him of sleeping with his hostess…wow, she just can’t help herself.

Dom confronts her about interviewing at another firm and tells her she is crazy to throw away everything she has worked for. Savi wears a Michael Kors Boat Neck Dress (sold out). I found a Tahari dress for $40.80 that is similar.

orange dress

Karen

When Karen arrives at the office, she finds out that they have been robbed. Nothing is taken until she discovers that her computer files have been downloaded. She goes to have lunch with Savi who tells her that Harry is sleeping with his hostess. Karen tells her that she is acting crazy and needs to back off (good advice). They also discover that Mrs. Gray has been out of the country and is not interested in her insurance money in the least.

Karen discovers that Sam broke into her office and left her a picture that says “Missing You. Sam” – creepy.

April

April meets with Miranda (Kate Beahan) to give her a payout. She gives a small amount and tells Miranda it will be the first of many payments. Miranda doesn’t seem to thrilled with that idea. Richard has to cancel their date because they couldn’t get a babysitter. He picks her up the next afternoon to take her to a Dodger’s game, but before they can leave Miranda shows up and ruins the date. April ultimately decides to sell part of her store to get the money for Miranda.

Joss

Joss is really pushing it with her new boss at work. I can’t believe she talks to him like that! Joss stops by Savi’s house to borrow some jewelry and discovers a What to Expect When You’re Expecting Book and automatically assumes that Savi is pregnant. Joss runs into April at a boutique and tells her that she knows Savi is pregnant. April immediately calls Savi and tells her to come clean with Joss soon.

Olivier gives Joss a specific assignment to sell an unsellable house. She tries her usual routine of charming the customer. She loses the listing and Olivier isn’t happy with her results. He tells her she is the person that thinks her way is the only way…he’s not wrong. She seems really immature in this episode.

Savi finally confesses everything to Joss and Joss blows up at her for keeping a huge secret. They have other sister issues that come into play and Savi ends up judging her for her lifestyle.

What do you think about Savi’s decisions in this episode? Will Harry forgive her?

Mistresses “Decisions, Decisions” Recap

Decisions, Decisions…that’s what our four Mistresses need to make this week. Joss (Jess Macallan) treats us to a steamy opening scene before we dig into their problems.

Savi

As Harry (Brett Tucker) kisses Savi (Alyssa Milano) goodbye, he notices that she has a metallic taste to her breath. I thought that was sort of a stretch, but I guess it’s a real phenomenon with pregnant women. It’s called Dysgeusia. She wears a Karen Millen Sculptured Peplum Dress ($380):

As Savi arrives at the office, she see Dom (Jason George) flirting with another woman. Harry calls her and has figured out that her metallic breath could mean that she’s pregnant. Dom’s flirting doesn’t sit well with her, so she decides to give his “friend” a boatload of work that will keep her busy for the entire day.

Harry is excited that Savi might be pregnant so he buys her a pregnancy test. She has to run off to work and agrees to take it later that evening. She is wearing a royal blue dress with an asymmetrical collar. I couldn’t find the dress, but I did find a similar one from Bebe ($114.99):

Bebe Asymmetric Cowl Dress

Dom confronts Savi about her behavior towards the new paralegal accusing her of being jealous. She says that he has been able to leave their affair unscathed and she has to deal with the consequences. He admits that he still has feelings for her and that he doesn’t regret what happened between them.

Harry insists that Savi take the pregnancy test, but she ends up getting her period seemingly solving all of her problems. Unfortunately, she finds out that she is still pregnant after visiting her doctor. She gets very emotional during the appointment. The doctor says that she has high blood pressure changes and she needs to work on reducing her stress.

At the end of the episode, Savi decides to come clean with Harry and tells him about the affair and the pregnancy…YIKES!

Joss

Joss is gearing up for another workout with Alex (Shannyn Sossamon). Alex has finally broken up with her girlfriend, Sally (Joanne McQuinn) and is moving out. She asks Joss to help her move. After their hike, Joss decides to hop in the shower and Alex decides to join her. Does anyone else find that a little weird? Just a few hours after she slept with one guy she is getting it on with Alex (which Alex was fully aware of). I’m all for choosing your own lifestyle, but if I was Alex I wouldn’t be okay with being on the second string.

They go for snacks in the kitchen and almost run into Harry, but he backs away before they know he is there. Joss and Alex have the relationship talk and Joss tells her that she isn’t gay and that she’s not a relationship person. They decide to keep things light for now. Joss wears a California Republic shirt ($19.95). I found a similar version in white and grey:

California Love TShirt

Harry confronts Joss about her friendship with Alex. He questions her messing up the friendship with sex and she gets mad at him. He is right and it is already obvious that Alex cares more about Joss than she does about Alex.

Sally confronts Joss as she is helping Alex move. She says that she can’t blame Alex for falling in love with Joss. Joss doesn’t believe it, but Sally insists. It definitely gives her something to think about. Joss ends up blowing Alex off for lunch and spending time with her current boy toy.

She realizes how immature he is and decides to meet up with Alex instead, leaving her guy alone in her room.

April

April (Rachelle Aytes) meets with her financial advisor to start looking into possibly giving Miranda (Kate Beahan) some of Paul’s estate money. She gets interrupted by a call from Lucy’s school saying that she didn’t show up, even though April dropped her off. She wears a blue crochet tank top over and orange tank. I found a similar crochet top from BB Dakota ($34):

BB Dakota Covina Crochet Tank

BB Dakota Covina Crochet Tank

When she gets to school she finds out that Lucy skipped school with Richard’s (Cameron Bender) daughter to get Selena Gomez’s autograph. After a conversation with her daughter, she realizes that she has never done an impulsive thing her entire life.

Richard comes to visit April at the store and she finally tells him everything that has been happening with Paul and Miranda. She also confesses to him how she has only slept with one man her entire life. He takes that as an invitation and they end up sleeping together in the store! Now that is what I call impulsive!!

Karen

Karen (Yunjin Kim) gets invited to speak at a conference where Hilary Clinton is also speaking. Her celebration is interrupted by a visit from Mr. Newsome (Gary Dourdan). She wears a Black Halo ‘Jackie’ Belted Gabardine Sheath Dress ($345):

Mr. Newsome would like copies of Karen’s notes from her sessions with Thomas Grey (which she happened to delete in the previous episode). This prompts her to meet with Mrs. Grey to try and figure out what new information Newsome might have.

Elizabeth Grey visits Karen at her office and decides that she doesn’t care about the insurance money anymore. She tells Karen that she needs to tell the insurance investigator that Thomas was suicidal so she can put the whole thing behind her. Karen resists at first, but then decides to do it. She is wearing the Calvin Klein Robe from Week 1:

What did you think about Savi’s decision to tell Harry about the affair? Do you think she should have waited until she got the paternity results back?

Mistresses “A Kiss is Just a Kiss” Recap

Episode 4 begins with Joss (Jes Macallan) and Harry (Brett Tucker) bantering in the kitchen, while Savi (Alyssa Milano) is at a doctor’s appointment confirming her pregnancy. The characters keep falling deeper into their own problems.

Savi

Savi tells Karen (Yunjin Kim) and April (Rachelle Aytes) that she is pregnant and they try to make her feel better by telling her that the baby is probably Harry’s (fat chance!). She is convinced that she has to tell Harry the truth, which I think is silly. I love how she thinks that everything will be okay if she just tells the truth…WRONG – he will probably kick your cheating butt to the curb!

She wears a sold-out Zac Posen dress in this scene. I found a similar asymmetrical cut dress by Ivy & Blu for $91.90:

Zac Posen Dress

Zac Posen Dress

Savi sets up an appointment to test the paternity of her baby. The appointment runs long and Savi needs to get Dominic (Jason George) to fill in for her in court. This makes up for her getting him kicked off the case in the previous episode.

She can test the paternity of the baby, but it will take a few weeks to get the results back. Now she just needs to get a sample from Harry.

Joss

Joss is building her friendship with Alex (Shannyn Sossamon) and Sally by hiking, although Joss isn’t much of a hiker. She wears the LuluLemon Wunder Under Crop pants in the Mirage Indigo print. You can still find some on eBay for around $100.

Lululemon Wunder Under Crop Pants

Lululemon Wunder Under Crop Pants

Sally confides in Joss that she has been a good friend to Alex and that they have been fighting less since they have been looking for a house. There is some foreshadowing here that Joss might become a problem in their relationship.

Joss talks to Savi about Alex’s relationship and she decides that Alex and Sally should break up because Alex is miserable. This just seems ridiculous to me. This is definitely a case of someone sticking their nose in where it doesn’t belong.

Alex invites Joss to a party because Sally had to cancel. Alex is getting hit on at the party and Joss pretends to be her girlfriend and kisses her (WTF was she thinking? So inappropriate and out of left field). Alex is upset by this and leaves.

Joss wears an All Saints Beige Restrain Skirt, which is sold out. I found two alternative options at Ann Taylor ($275) and Saks Fifth Avenue ($132):

All Saints Skirt

She also wears the Brandy Melville Mirella tank ($24.70) which is sold out, but there is a similar one here for $36 (ID Source: WornOnTV). Alex wears a sold out Betsey Johnson maxi dress, I found another maxi dress from Asos for $81.46 that is just as cute and would work for an evening event.

Joss and Alex

Little Mistress Maxi Dress

Little Mistress Maxi Dress

Alex ends up showing up at Joss’ door and tells her that she broke up with Sally. She temporarily moves in with Joss at Harry and Savi’s guest house.

April

April gets a visit from an attorney representing Miranda Nickelby (Kate Beahan) informing her that Miranda plans to sue if she refuses to pay child support. April meets with Savi to discuss her options. Savi is the voice of reason and tells her not to give Miranda a dime until she has proof. Savi gives April good advice and tells her to handle it in court. April doesn’t want her daughter to find out and is hesitant about going to court.

She wears the Hayley Oversized Top from Gypsy 05 that is sold out, but you can get the same print in a button-up version ($187) or in a similar print ($143):

Gypsy 05 top

Gypsy 05 top

April meets Miranda at her store to try to get more information about her and Paul’s relationship. She finds out that Miranda and Paul had been seeing each other for over a year and that Paul had planned to leave April. During the conversation Scotty hurts himself and they have to take him to the hospital. April pays the medical bills and I believe this is when she changes her mind and starts to feel sorry for Miranda’s situation.

At the end of the episode we see Miranda paying off the attorney who was really an actor. There is something fishy going on here.

Karen

Karen finishes up a yoga class and finds Sam’s (Erik Stocklin) wallet in her car. Just when she thought she was done with him, he left something behind. Now this is typically a chick move, the ole’ “Oh, I left something at your place, can I come and pick it up?” Funny how Sam is not too far away from desperate.

Karen finds Sam's Wallet

Karen finds Sam’s Wallet

The smart thing to do in this situation would be to mail the wallet back to Sam, but in four episodes, I’ve learned that Karen is not that bright when it comes to this kid. She instead takes the wallet to his apartment and tries to squeeze it in his mailbox. She is surprised to run into him and she finds out that he decided to drop out of school.

Sam invites Karen up to the apartment so he can explain that he is dropping out of school to pursue photography. He invites her to dinner (WARNING: Karen, what are you thinking?). Sam tries to kiss Karen and she rushes off. I can’t believe she didn’t see this coming, Sam is totally obsessed with her.

I think Joss and Karen are playing with fire, what did you think about Episode 4? Savi is in a big mess, it will be interesting to see how she handles it.
