April 2016 Pinspired

It’s time for another edition of Pinspired! Now that it’s finally warmed up in Michigan I can look at some fun spring/summer looks. I love romper looks, but as a curvier lady, wasn’t really sure I could pull them off. When I came across this look on Pinterest, I had to pin it for later. The color combination was right up my alley! Here is the original pin.

April Pinspired

I found four romper options to recreate this look and decided to include them all because this is something we definitely need to try on first. The first, a Muse Sleeveless Double V-Neck Romper from Soma ($39.98), the second a BCX Juniors’ Cold-Shoulder Necklace Romper ($49), the third a Tank Romper from Gap ($59.95), and the fourth a Tall Floral Jacquard Tie Back Romper ($79.50):

Navy Rompers

I really liked these Rampage Happy Platform Wedge Sandals ($35.40) and they are a great price:

Rampage Wedges

I found this awesome MG Collection Marissa Top-Handle Doctor Shoulder Bag ($35.50) which looks more expensive that it is!

This will be a fun summer look that you can dress up or down depending on the event. If you have any ideas for my next Pinspired, let me know in the comments below.

March 2016 Pinspired

I used to participate in a fun linkup called Pinspired, where you recreate a look you found on Pinterest. This was one of my favorite monthly posts to write so I decided that I would start it up again. Here is a fun look I found on Pinterest that I would love to wear for spring. Now don’t get me wrong, I definitely wouldn’t wear a crop top to work, but I definitely loved the pop of color and kept coming back to this image. Here is the original Pin.

Fashion 101

I found a similar style skirt first that I will use to style the rest of the outfit around. Because this skirt has a few colors, we could change up the top to create a few different looks. The skirt I found is a Pencil Skirt from Charter Club for $59.50:

Charter Club Skirt

I found two different color blouses to compliment this skirt, so you decide which color is your favorite. Or get both for a completely different look. The first is this Vince Camuto Wrap Front V-Neck Blouse in Guava Fruit ($79) and the second is this Target Women’s Short Sleeve V-Neck Blouse in Bright Purple ($44.99):

Blouse

Next up are the bags. I also wanted to have fun with the colors on this, figuring you could mix it up. I found this Valentino Bag in Violet ($299.99) and this Kate Spade Cedar Street – Maise Satchel in Flo Geranium ($223.50):

satchels

For the shoes, I found these fun Nine West Sweet as Pie T-Strap Sandals ($89):

PG.SWEETASPIEX5.JJ158A1.PZ

I felt like I also needed to add a pump style shoe since I would probably wear this outfit to work and strappy sandals aren’t really work appropriate. I like these Nine West Tornaydo Pointy Toe Pumps ($89):

PG.NWTORNAYDO.JJ3JESY.PZ

I am thrilled with this look! I can’t wait to get all the pieces and rock this look in the office. I absolutely LOVE the bright colors.

November 2014 Pinspired

For this month’s Pinspired, I wanted to put together some over the knee boot looks. I’ve mentioned in the past how I’ve had trouble finding boots that fit my calves. Well, The Avenue has solved that problem and I found this amazing Eiffel Over the Knee Boots ($49.99). Now I’m just not sure how to style them, so when in doubt look to Pinterest for inspiration!

I found this photo on Pinterest and I knew it was something I could pull off:

To kick off the look, you’ll need leggings. I love the Hue Ultra Wide Waistband Leggings ($36). They are so comfy! I already have these in black, so the look is halfway there.

I thought this Alfani Poncho Turtleneck Sweater ($46.99) was perfect for this look!

I also thought if I wanted to dress it up for the holidays, I could swap for this DKNY Sequin High/Low Pullover ($99.50):

I had a hard time find a bag to match the original look until I found this Maelle Satchel from Guess ($69.50):

How would you style over the knee boots?

September 2014 Pinspired

I figured with all of the kids going back to school and posting first day outfits, this was the perfect time for us adults to get our own back to work outfits. I know most of us have been working through the summer, but I always feel like the first day back after Labor Day is time to get back to business. For this month’s Pinspired I wanted to put together a first day of work outfit.

When I was searching Pinterest for some Fall 2014 work dresses I stumbled upon Ralph Lauren’s Pre Fall 2014 Collection and Altuzzara’s Fall Collection which were both made up of chic fall dresses.

I found some gorgeous gray dresses that would be perfect for work, here are a few of my top picks:

Anne Klein Side Tie Staple Dress ($88.99)

In the inspiration photos, they paired these dresses with gray shoes and I found the perfect pair in these Ralph Lauren Sophie Pumps ($98):

I like a pop of color and that would be a great way to take the look from day to night. These Ivanka Trump Maggie Pumps ($77.96) are classic:

These Guess Beilan Pumps ($99) are a great fall pink color:

I thought these could be really fun for a first day of work back. You could also mix and match cardigans and blazers.

What would you wear for your first day back at work?

As I mentioned last week, I have a lot of weddings this season. I still have three weddings left and one is at a winery/resort in Washington (the state). I was looking for a fun, resort type outfit to wear to this wedding and these pictures inspired me:

I was really feeling the navy and gold look and wanted to recreate something similar that was casual, but still dressy.

I found the perfect navy dress from Felicity & Coco ($78):

I fell in love with these Klub Nico Moxie Sandals ($224.95), but they are a little pricey, I may have to wait for a deal:

For accessories, I figured I could use the Teardrop Chandelier Earrings I already have from The Limited (on sale for $13.77):

and the Pave Link Bracelet ($68) that I have from Nordstrom:

I also loved this purse from Lulu Townsend ($29.95):

I’ve know what my Pinspired look for February was going to be ever since I saw this amazing look from Erin at Living in Yellow on Pinterest. I thought this would make the perfect Valentine’s Date outfit, because when else can you wear white?

February Pinspired

What first caught my eye was the shoes (My foot was still healing at this point so I was having heel envy). Who knew they were Mossimo from Target! Super cute, but sold out in red- but that didn’t stop me. You can still get them in different colors at Target, here for about $20. I hunted them down on eBay and you can too, just click here. I found one pair in a 7 here, but you just have to keep checking back until they have your size. I may get the other colors too.

I found two white dresses that I liked at Nordstrom. The first one is an Ellen Tracy Pleated Waist Sheath Dress ($108):

The second one is a Tahari Chain Detail Peplum Sheath Dress ($138):

With the first dress it might be fun to dress it up with this Ily Couture red bubble necklace ($49):

January Pinspired

I recently announced my upcoming Sip Happens Party, where I plan to have my closest gal pals over for a fun wine tasting. The wine we chose, 14 Hands Hot to Trot, is inspired by the wild horses of Washington state. For my party, I thought it would be cool if I went with an equestrian theme. So I figured we could wear our best equestrian themed outfits, which means I need a new outfit (see how that works?).  I found a few different equestrian looks on Pinterest that I will use to come up with one of my own.

January Pinspired

The most important part of this look is the riding pants, and I think I found the perfect ones with a faux leather patch at the knee. These Michael Kors Riding Pants come in black and chocolate for $99.50:

Riding Pants

I found a few different tops to mix and match depending on how much coverage you want with the pants. The first is this Bar III Tweed Faux Leather Blazer ($94.99) which would match perfectly with the pants:

blazer

This Ralph Lauren Zippered Crew Neck Top ($36.98) also gives the Equestrian vibe and there are lots of color options:

Screen Shot 2014-01-03 at 2.57.34 AM

If you want something longer, this Halogen Cashmere Tunic ($128) does the trick. The camel would look great with either color pant:

Screen Shot 2014-01-03 at 3.00.39 AM

The riding boots are needed to complete the outfit. There are so many cute ones to choose from, but alas, I have a wide calf and my selection is limited. I did find these Reilly Double Buckle wide-calf boots in my size that have both brown and black options. They are a steal at $54.96:

Screen Shot 2014-01-03 at 3.31.18 AM

Unfortunately, when I went to buy the Reilly boots, they were sold out in brown, so I got these Celia Faux Suede Back Riding Boots ($49.96) instead. I also searched and found a 30% off one item coupon code that worked (AV131272) so that bumped the price down even more!

Screen Shot 2014-01-08 at 8.38.21 AM  If you really want to complete the look, try adding this Burberry Wool Silk Scarf ($150) nothing says equestrian more than Burberry:

November Pinspired

I missed last month’s Pinspired on account of breaking my foot so I was really looking forward to this one. This is a fun challenge with Shay at MixandMatchMama, Sheaffer at Pinterest Told Me To and Mel at The Larson Lingo to recreate a look from Pinterest.

I have two events to attend in November where I will need to dress up. Unfortunately, I probably won’t be able to wear heels for a long time on account of my broken foot, so I need to figure out how to get glammed up in flats. The first one is to Hour Magazine’s Best Dressed Party and the second is the PRSA Annual Dinner. Here are a few of my inspiration photos from Pinterest to get me started:

I had a specific idea in mind for this look. I loved the purple color of this dress for the upcoming holiday season and think that this is a great dress for many different occasions. It is the Isaac Mizrahi Peplum Dress ($118):

peplumI wanted to pair this style dress with a peter pan collar style necklace. I found this statement necklace on Etsy for $15.99:

I thought these Nine West flats ($49.99) matched the necklace and pulled together the look:

For the second outfit, I just fell in love with this JS Collection dress ($258):

I have been dying to get this Basilissa Pave Bracelet ($99) and think it would go perfectly with this dress:

For the shoe, I think the Steve Madden Glitter Flat ($39.95) would work for this outfit:

When I was in school, getting my first day of school outfit was very important. It was like a fresh start; what was your style going to be for the year? Now that I’m an adult, every season is like the first day of school. A chance to get in on the popular trends and establish your own unique style.

There are a number of hot trends this fall, but I’m going to focus on bright colored blazers and leather for this edition of Pinspired. Here are a few of my inspiration looks from Pinterest:

September Pinspired2

The first thing that caught my eye about these looks was the necklace, probably because I’ve had my eye on it for a while. The Tempest Necklace from Stella and Dot ($198) would be perfect with these looks:

I found these fantastic leather and ponte leggings from Not Your Daughter’s Jeans. They have them in regular and plus sizes for $120-130:

I found this Madison Nylon Knit Tank for $19.99 to layer under the blazer:

For the Pièce de résistance, the New Directions Ponte Knit Blazer does the trick for only $40.99 with colors in Radiant Red, Cruising Blue and Black:

I loved the lavender trench coat and found this Ivanka Trump Double Breasted Peplum Trench for $79.99:

I found a few different shoe looks, just because I think you could dress this outfit up or down with various styles. For an everyday look, I got some adorable ankle booties from Payless last year that would work, they still have one pair left on eBay:

I found a similar pair at Nine West for $99:

I am in love with this look! It is so versatile, you can change the shoes and accessories and mix and match blazers for the entire season. The leather leggings are a little out of my comfort zone, but I am excited to try them and see what I can do with the look.

Do you have any other suggestions on what I could add to this look?

One of the biggest summer trends is bright colored jeans. This is a little outside of my fashion comfort zone, I haven’t purchased colored jeans in years! My goal is to get a pair and create a few fun looks that I can wear throughout the summer.

Here are the Pinterest looks I am going to recreate. These are simple and basic so I know I would actually wear them:

For the first outfit, I am going to purchase the brink pink jeans from Old Navy. At $19, if I decide I can’t pull off the look, I’m not out too much money:

For the white top, I am going to go with the Tipped Poplin Tank in Sea Salt from Old Navy, on sale for $4. You can’t beat that!

Tipped Poplin Top

For the blazer, I think this would be the perfect time to get Shaeffer’s famous Oatmeal Blazer from Olivia Moon. This is a bit of a splurge for $79, but I can wear it with a lot of other things.

Olivia Moon Linen Jacket

Now for my favorite part, the shoes! My nude pumps have seen better days, so I thought these Michael Antonio Torio Sandals from DSW would be cute and comfortable. At $39.95 they are a steal!

DSW Sandals

That completes the first outfit. The total is $141.95 which is not bad for a whole outfit, plus shoes! I am actually excited to purchase these items and try this look out. This would be a great date night look and perfect for my upcoming New York trip in July!

For my next look, I am going to go with the same jeans from Old Navy, this time in the Pool Paint color for $29.50. They cost a little more in this shade:

Pool Paint from Old Navy

I am going to try the Sheer Henley Tunic from the Gap for the top at $49.95. I already have a white layering tank I can wear underneath it.

For my look, I would like the shoes and the necklace to match if possible. I think that would tie the whole look together.

These Gabriella Rocha Jaegar wedges from DSW are so cute and I have been looking for something in this style. They are on sale for $52.99.

Last but not least, the pink beaded necklace. I opted to go a little more low key with the necklace, so I found this adorable teardrop necklace on Etsy for $15.

I am even more excited about this look! I could wear this on the weekend or even to work on a casual Friday. The entire look is $147.44.

Let me know what you think about my selections and please let me know if you find any of these items for less! I will definitely be rocking these outfits soon!
