Every Story Has a Bead

Disclosure: I received sample products from Trollbeads in exchange for this post. All opinions expressed are my own.

A few Saturdays ago, I hosted a party at the Trollbeads store in Twelve Oaks Mall. Trollbeads only has seven storefront locations in the United States and Michigan is lucky to have one of them.

I didn’t know a lot about Trollbeads before the event, but after six hours in the store, I feel like I’m an expert! I love that every piece is so unique an each customer can create something that expresses their individual personality.

Trollbeads was founded in 1976 in Copenhagen, Denmark. In Denmark the word “troll” is used to refer to all mythical creatures. The first Trollbead, Faces, included six troll faces as you turn the bead and is still part of the collection today:

I had a lot of creating all of my own pieces at the event, one of my favorite looks was this tiara. There are so many fun and different ways you could adorn this. This would be great for a wedding, shower or any special event.

I’ve talked about upping my bangle game before and I just loved these gold bangles and could have a lot of fun creating a stack of them.

I also did a silver stack and I just adore the butterfly stoppers on these bangles. In the silver you have three different choices of bracelets, the bangle, the twisted bangle and the traditional foxtail bracelet:

I tried my hand at creating a pendant necklace. Some of the beads were so unique and beautiful.

They also had this pendant on display in the store and I thought the combination was beautiful:

I ended up leaving with my very own foxtail bracelet and my first “Unique” bead:

If you’re interested in starting your Trollbeads collection, visit the store at Twelve Oaks Mall and mention DetroitDuchess for 10% off your order. Make sure to post a picture of what you get!

Discover the Fire Within with Angara

Disclosure: I received a complimentary necklace from Angara in exchange for a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

When Angara contacted me to pick out something special I was thrilled. It’s not everyday that a girl gets jewelry! My favorite gems are rubies (my birthstone) and sapphires (my sorority stone). If you haven’t seen me mention it before, I am a Phi Sigma Sigma and our stone is the sapphire, a symbol of purity. When I first was initiated my big sister gave me a sapphire ring which I still wear. So this beautiful Sapphire and Diamond Shell Pendant was the perfect choice to add to my collection.

Sapphire Pendant

Angara is an ancient Sanskrit word that means “the fire within.” I couldn’t think of a better way to describe the world’s most beautiful gemstones. The company was founded by Ankur Daga, who created it after seeing his fellow classmates struggle to purchase engagement rings.

Since there is still time to get those last minute holiday purchases in, I thought I would share a few of my wish list pieces from Angara:

Frost Yourself with Anjolee

Disclosure: I received a complimentary ring from Anjolee in exchange for a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I was thrilled when Anjolee contacted me for a ring review. I love jewelry and I have always wanted a right hand ring. Back in the day, I had planned to buy myself one (that never ended up happening). I also want a motherhood ring one day to top off my wedding band and engagement ring, so I thought it would be fun to try one on for size.

For those of you not familiar with Anjolee, the company was founded in 1977 by two brothers. They were inspired by their mother, Lee’s angelic nature and her passion for beautiful jewelry. They name is a combination of the word angel, Lee’s name and the French word “jolie” which means beautiful.

Anjolee

I had a list of rings to choose from and then Anjolee made a replica for me to keep! I tried to find a ring that matched my current wedding and engagement set so I could get an idea of what it would look like. I ultimately selected the Brilliant Eternity Ring with Side Stones:

I thought this ring was stunning and I loved the detail with the side stones. When it arrived in the mail, the ring was even more stunning in person, plus it came it a beautiful box that had its own light!

I am pretty much in love with this ring, even though this version is only a cubic zirconia, it is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.

I also tried it on with my wedding set:

So now that I have the jewelry bug, I figured I would check out some Anjolee anniversary bands. These would make a beautiful anniversary present or even a great right hand ring option for myself:

During Black Friday, I was also eyeing a pair of diamond earrings from another retailer, but one of the reasons I didn’t purchase the earrings was because of the mixed reviews. Many of the reviews complained that the earrings didn’t look as good as they appeared in the picture and some of them even had flaws. The great thing about Anjolee is that they ensure the highest standard of quality for all of their jewelry. When I decide to purchase my diamond studs, I will definitely go through Anjolee because I know exactly what I will be getting. I just added these studs to my wishlist! I also noticed that all of the studs have screwbacks so you won’t lose them.

I had a lot of fun wish list shopping with Anjolee and can’t wait to make one of these pieces a reality. What pieces are on your jewelry wish list?

I loved the look of these earrings and according to Rana, quartz is a balancing and cleansing gemstone. I like the idea of wearing them to keep me balanced.

3. Emerald Green Chalcedony Quartz Faceted Teardrop Gemstone Pendant Necklace

This necklace would make a beautiful statement piece and I love that you can select your own length. The chalcedony stone is considered a sacred stone by the Native American Indians. Chalcedony is supposed to nurture and promote brotherhood and good will.

This would be great to wear as a statement piece on an interview or for a big presentation.

4. Peacock Blue Drusy Quartz and Gold Chain Dangle Earrings

I thought these earrings were stunning and I love that Rana explains what the stone is in the description. Drusy is in reference to the crystal like formations on quartz. The inside of a geode would be considered drusy quartz.

This necklace is just cool and it also doubles as a pendulum and can read, receive and store energy. This quartz is in its purest form and is excellent for meditation and bringing harmony to the soul.
