The Book Was Better Book Club: A Simple Favor

Last year I started a new book club that would specifically focus on books that have been turned into movies or TV shows. We had a great first run with Little Fires Everywhere. I had every intention of keeping this going, but as you may have noticed in my previous post, I’m having a baby! I wasn’t expecting to be so sick, but it sort of took me out of commission for a while and I had to pause the book club. I am still committed to keeping this going and would LOVE to get this next round in before the baby comes and hopefully start the next round after she’s born as I’m sure I will need things to read and watch as I’m up for all those late-night feedings.

I will most likely rotate between a TV series and a movie and I had previously announced that A Simple Favor would be our first book/movie selection. If you haven’t joined our private Detroit Duchess Book Club Facebook Group, make sure to join so you can get in on the discussion and the final “Live” discussion.

If you haven’t picked up the book yet, you can find A Simple Favor here for $2.04! In addition, you can watch the movie on Hulu and Amazon Prime. I also found the DVD for $3.74 if you don’t have a streaming service.

I hope you will join us for this fun read and I look forward to hearing your ideas for future reads!

Last Call Pitches! Win Passes to Pitch Perfect 3 Screening

Today I have something fun to offer you; a flash giveaway to see Pitch Perfect 3 tomorrow night before it’s out in theaters! I don’t know about you, but I’m a huge Pitch Perfect fan and have had the best time with my friends seeing these movies. I’m actually a little sad that it’s over. But that just means that we get one acca-awesome farewell tour. You can see a little taste of that here:

I love the premise for this movie, because let’s be honest, you hasn’t had a hard time adjusting to life after college? Especially if your college experience was one of the best times of your life. To get prepared for one last call, here are some of my favorite Pitch Perfect accessories which may lend themselves to a killer night of karaoke some day soon. And if you would like to join me at the Pitch Perfect screening tomorrow night at 7 p.m. Please enter my giveaway below. I will be announcing winners throughout the next 24 hours so make sure to enter early for a better chance to win.

These Pitch Perfect buttons are the cutest! I wish I had them for the screening tomorrow:

You can find Amy’s “Make America Eat Again” hat from the trailer, here.

A Barden Bellas T-Shirt. This is so cute! I am definitely considering a group Barden Bellas Halloween costume next year – how fun would that be?

I’m pretty much in love with this Barden Bellas scarf journal. The real scarf is a custom design from Brooks Brothers and they aren’t available for sale, but you could get this cute journal instead:

I loved the official Pitch Pipe in the movies and thought I could make my own with this Bellas sticker and a real pitch pipe:

Now that you’ve seen my favorite Pitch Perfect products, enter enter here for your chance to win a pair of tickets to the advance screening of PITCH PERFECT 3 on Tuesday, December 19 at 7 PM at the MJR Troy. I will be announcing winners throughout the day so check back to see if you’ve won.

You’re Invited: Kate Spade The Sky’s the Limit

I was generously offered the opportunity to host a party at Kate Spade at the Somerset Collection this Sunday, November 16, 2014 to celebrate the launch of the new holiday collection. Kate Spade is also offering my readers 25% off any purchase they make at the event! If you are in the area on Sunday, I hope you can join us!

Kate Spade Holiday Collection

I was thrilled when I saw the new holiday campaign for Kate Spade. I LOVE Las Vegas and having the catalog inspired by old Vegas glamour is right up my alley. They also recruited Anna Kendrick to be the face of their campaign. These pictures are fabulous and I can’t wait to shop this collection. You can check out the entire lookbook here.
