The Crazy Ones “Dead and Improved” Recap

This episode started out sort of weird, but as it kept going it was very touching. The episode opened with Simon (Robin Williams) working on a jingle with his team. As he was waiting for his jingle writer, Conrad Evans, to arrive he is interrupted by Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) informing him that Conrad passed away and that his daughter, Melora (Missi Pyle) is waiting in his office.

Sydney wears the sold-out Parker Printed Crossover Dress. This Julie Brown Alison Dress ($60) is similar. Sydney also wears the Alexandra necklace ($98) and the Grey Lee Designs Vertical Bar Necklace ($88):

Parker dressMelora is straight with Simon and Sydney, she knows that nobody really liked her father, but she wants Simon to do his eulogy. Melora wants her father’s life to be celebrated for at least one day and she knows that Simon can bring that like nobody else.

On the other side of the office, Andrew (Hamish Linklater), Zach (James Wolk) and Lauren (Amanda Setton) are meeting with the Charmin representative who wants to make the commercial sexy. Simon tries to trade Andrew and Zach for the commercial, but Melora is convinced that Simon has to do the eulogy. She wants her father rebranded as beloved.

Mitchell (Kurt Fuller), the Charmin rep, decides that he wants in on the big funeral. Instead of using Kleenex he wants them to pass out rolls of Charmin at the funeral. He wants what Kleenex has. Why not Charmin?

Unfortunately, before he gets a chance to continue his rant, Sydney has to interrupt with news from Charmin that their representative no longer speaks for the company and Andrew and Zach have to terminate the meeting. They wuss out and make Sydney give him the bad news. She wears the sold-out Kate Spade New York Kati Cardigan. I found this David Kahn Felix Sweater ($23.40) to recreate the look along with the Wyatt black and red rosette blouse ($66.75):

Mitch ends up losing it and his clothes insisting that Simon rebrand him. Simon pawns this task off on Andrew who tries to talk Mitch down.

For the funeral, Simon has to bring Fred Melamad, the voice over guy, in to help with the funeral. Simon keeps trying to back out of it, but Melora insists that she wants a spectacle.

Simon is having doubts about himself, whether he really has a legacy or is he just a big spectacle himself. Sydney convinces him that he is awesome and he needs to get out there and throw a kick ass funeral.

The sweetest part about this episode is at the end, when Simon feels like he is just putting on a big spectacle, he stops and realizes that someone loved Conrad, and that was his daughter Melora. He then directs his touching speech at Sydney, telling the audience that it doesn’t matter what people thought about him, it only matters that he had someone who loved him.

The best quote was “You want to see the true picture of a man, see him through his daughter’s eyes.” Even I teared up a little bit. He rocked that eulogy and gave Melora the spectacle she wanted.

Mitch even got people using Charmin at the funeral, so he won too.

The Crazy Ones “Simon Roberts Was Here” Recap

This week on The Crazy Ones, Simon (Robin Williams) gets a quant and Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) gets a cat.

A cat food client decides to hire Lewis, Roberts & Roberts because of their increased focus on numbers and data. Simon thing advertising is an art, not a science and doesn’t think that Colin (Sandeep Parikh), the quant, understands advertising. The client also drops off Princess the cat so the office can get a feel for their business.

Sydney wears the Gaylord Plaid Knit Jacket from Isabel Marant ($480). This Star Jones Tweed Jacket ($49.87) is similar:

Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 8.56.34 PM

Simon and Colin make a bet – the winner gets to pitch the client their way. So they decide that they each have to come up with a campaign for Ice. Simon will be creative and Colin will use science. Unfortunately, Colin wins the bet and the team judges that his ad is the better one.

Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 9.10.06 PM

After Simon loses the bet, he decides to completely embrace the numbers. He figures out that the quant made profiles on each team member so that the ad would specifically target them.

Sydney’s relationship with Princess takes an interesting turn. She isn’t really a cat person, but Princess starts to grow on her. Sydney is upset when she finds out that Colin’s profile on her predicts that she will be single forever. He tells her that the best way to avoid this is to ignore her new relationship with Princess and not become a cat person.

Sydney wears the Emeraude Top by Sandro ($260) and the Smoking Tux Jacket by Helmut Lang ($575). To recreate the look I found this Greylin Black And White ‘Renee’ Lace Accent Short Sleeve Top ($49.50) and Bisou Bisou High-Low Ruffled Jacket ($39.99):

Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 9.23.49 PM

Colin presents his new cat food ad based on the numbers. Simon is distraught about this turn of events and all seems lost until Simon stumbles upon a billboard that the team put up for him, but ends up getting arrested for graffiti.

Lauren (Amanda Setton) ends up getting the security footage of Sydney giving in and bonding with Mr. Princess and her and Andrew (Hamish Linklater) thing that she is going down the crazy cat lady path. Mr. Princess has to go back to the client and the team is worried that she will fall apart when the cat leaves.

Sydney wears a Floral Print Jacket from Rebecca Taylor ($198). I love this floral blazer from Old Navy ($39.94) to recreate the look:

Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 9.44.17 PM

After his stint in jail, Simon has a breakthrough. He can take what the quant learned and add his own creative spin to it. The client hated the quant’s data only ad, but they loved Simon’s creative ad based from the data.

Simon convinces Sydney to keep the cat and that it doesn’t necessarily mean she will be single forever. When she takes Mr. Princess home she meets a sexy veterinarian in the hallway and there is a glimpse of hope that this doesn’t mean that she will be the crazy cat lady after all.

She wears a fabulous sold-out Ted Baker Adalya coat. I found two great matches, a Calvin Klein Sweater Knit Swing Coat ($171) and a Calvin Klein Blue Stretch Double Breasted Belted Trench Coat ($99):

Screen Shot 2014-03-09 at 10.02.40 PM

I couldn’t help reading a little too much into this episode, because in my line of work (social media) anytime you can back things up with analytics the clients love it! So I definitely found the humor in this.

The Crazy Ones “Outbreak” Recap

This week on The Crazy Ones, we learned that dolls are creepy…but you already knew that. The team at Lewis, Roberts & Roberts takes on a PR crisis to rehab Randi Jenkins, the homici-doll. Unfortunately, during the meeting at the doll company, Zach (James Wolk) is exposed to the flu!

Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) wears the sultry black diamond crystal chandelier earrings from Arte Designs ($52):

Screen Shot 2014-03-13 at 2.33.36 PM

Sydney decides to quarantine Zach to the conference room because she has an amazing date with a pediatrician who sommelies (apparently its a verb) and loves Debbie Gibson’s Lost in Your Eyes (who doesn’t). Andrew (Hamish Linklater) is jealous of Sydney’s date and is trying to undermine her excitement.

Sydney wears a Helmut Lang Convex Concealed Placket Blouse ($395), Jay Godfrey Exclusive Cascade Cami ($99),  Peggy Li Crystal Elegance Earrings ($79) and the Peggy Li Turquoise Pendant Necklace ($129):

Screen Shot 2014-01-20 at 12.05.59 AMAndrew tries to give Sydney the flu germs by switching her water glass for an infected one, but she catches onto him and confronts him about his feelings. She wears an American Rag striped dress and Robyn Rhodes Azin Earrings ($99). I found a similar American Rag striped dress at Macy’s ($34.99):

Screen Shot 2014-01-20 at 12.37.56 AM

She realizes that Zach has her phone in the quarantined area and Andrew sacrifices his health to go in and get it for her so she won’t be exposed. Let me just say that room was a nightmare, scary!

The apology tour doesn’t go as planned when Lauren (Amanda Setton) accidentally includes the defective doll in the group for the event. Simon (Robin Williams) ends up beheading the doll in front of all the kids.

On the bright side, Sydney gets to go on her date and she looks smokin hot in a white lace peplum dress from Bless’ed are the Meek ($99.11). There aren’t very many left, so you can try this similar Herve Leger Peplum Bandage Dress ($209):

Screen Shot 2014-01-20 at 1.16.56 AM

I have to admit, I got super excited when she was walking to the elevator and they were playing Starship (one of my favorites)! Unfortunately, Sydney chose that time to cough and the pediatrician got freaked out and bailed on their date. It’s too bad because I hope she didn’t waste that dress.

In the end, Simon ends up keeping the doll account due to the company’s weird obsession with their doll. Andrew and Sydney renew their friendship over the flue, but it is unclear whether or not they will ever have a romance.

What was your favorite part of this week’s episode? Do you think Andrew and Sydney will ever get together?

The Crazy Ones “The Face of a Winner” Recap

On the latest episode of The Crazy Ones, we learn that Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) likes to win…a lot. Lauren (Amanda Setton) and Sydney were hard at work on a new campaign for a spa company while Zach (James Wolk) and Andrew (Hamish Linklater) were working on a video game campaign. Simon (Robin Williams) decides to turn the tables on the group and have the girls work on the video game account and the boys work on the beauty campaign.

Sydney wears the Rag & Bone Aviator Blazer ($267.50) and a Michelle Mason Drape Blouse ($179). This ASOS boucle jacket ($44.47) and Crepe Split Neck Cap Sleeve Blouse ($79) are similar:

Screen Shot 2014-01-06 at 9.54.42 PM

This episode reminded me a lot of my job, when you are at an agency you get to work on many different accounts and sometimes it is something completely foreign to you. I joke that working in public relations, you get to visit all of the different worlds and become an expert in them. That is what Sydney has to do on the video game account. So she ends up getting addicted to winning the game and becoming an expert.

Eventually, the team decides to host an intervention and try to get her to stop playing the game. But not before she comes up with an amazing presentation to win the client’s business. Sydney wears a blue velvet blazer by Girl. by Band of Outsiders ($501) and Michelle Mason floral tee ($129). This Tommy Hilfiger blazer ($97.99) and Rebecca Minkoff Celadon Floral Print Silk ‘George’ Sleeveless Blouse ($55.97) provide a similar look for less:

Screen Shot 2014-01-06 at 10.46.19 PM

What was your favorite part of this week’s episode? I loved seeing SMG a wreck – so different than anything else I’ve seen her do.

The Crazy Ones “The Intern” Recap

This week on The Crazy Ones, the team gets a new intern who was hired primarily to win a big client. The team immediately judges Kelsi (Ashley Tisdale) for having her rich daddy line up a job for her. Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) over identifies with this situation and wants to give Kelsi the benefit of the doubt. Sydney wears a Theory blazer ($425) and the Abstract Garnet Link Earrings from Arte Designs ($42). This Olivia Moon Knit Blazer ($47.70) is similar for a great price:

Screen Shot 2014-01-03 at 7.28.01 PM

Things start to go sour as soon as Kelsi arrives  – late on her first day. Sydney wears a Rebecca Taylor Tweed Peplum Top ($140) and Mystic Sapphire Sliver Earrings from Arte Designs ($40).

Screen Shot 2014-01-03 at 8.03.21 PM

One of the principles we learn about this week is the habit loop – the act of trying to break a habit by replacing it with something else. A trick that Lauren (Amanda Setton) uses to try to wean herself off of Zach (James Wolk) by replacing him with Andrew (Hamish Linklater).

Things get tricky when Sydney and Simon (Robin Williams) have a talk with Kelsi to talk about some things she needs to improve on. Kelsi gets entitled and insults Sydney – then Sydney lets her have it. The problem with that is she runs out and that means no $30 million client for the agency. The team ends up following Kelsi to a Jewish fraternity party and in order to talk to her have to play a game of beer pong with her.

crazy ones

Sydney wears a Varuna leather combo top by Sachin & Babi ($138), Leather Trim Blazer by Rebecca Taylor ($395) and the Sloane earrings from Brooklyn Designs ($55). The same Apt. 9 Blazer from Kohl’s ($34.99) from last week’s recreation works here. She really gets use out of the leather blazers in the series so far:

Screen Shot 2014-01-03 at 8.32.46 PM

They get Kelsi to come back to the office by agreeing to help her with a roommate problem she had been having. It seems to be going well until Kelsi’s immaturity shows through and she gets in a hair-pulling fight with the roommate. Her father shows up midway through the fight and demands to know what is going on. He actually commends the team for calling Kelsi on her crap and complements Sydney on her character and hard work. Sydney wears a Cynthia Vincent Dress ($91.25), Helmut Lang Blazer ($398) and Kate Spade’s Drop Earrings ($48). This Michael Kors Leather Blazer ($146.99) is similar and would work to recreate the look:

Screen Shot 2014-01-03 at 8.49.05 PM

What was your favorite part of this week’s episode? I loved watching Sarah Michelle Gellar play the drunk girl – that is definitely something you don’t usually see from her (minus the Buffy Beer Bad and Life Serial episodes).

The Crazy Ones “Models Love Magic” Recap

This week on The Crazy Ones, the Victoria’s Secret models, along with Adriana Lima, take over the Lewis, Roberts & Roberts offices. Lauren (Amanda Setton), Zach (James Wolk) and Andrew (Hamish Linklater) run the shoot for the $10 million fantasy bra.

While they are handling the models, Gordon (Brad Garrett) and Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) are pitching very traditional clients. The clients have been to every agency in town, but are looking for people that have traditional values. So Gordon decides to pretend that he is straight to land the business. Unfortunately, that isn’t enough  – the clients want to meet Simon (Robin Williams) – and he is a wildcard.

Sydney wears a Helmut Lang leather blazer ($419) and a scoopneck tank by O’2nd ($79). For the blazer, you can try this Apt. 9 Blazer from Kohl’s ($34.99):

pink

In the meantime, Lauren tries on the fantasy bra and can’t get it off. Sydney is left to clean up the mess while Gordon takes the clients and Simon to lunch. Gordon’s partner, Timothy, has a crisis when a raccoon gets into the kitchen. Gordon doesn’t want to leave Simon by himself with the traditional clients. Simon pushes Gordon to come clean to the clients and not be ashamed of who they are. He ultimately wins the battle and the clients decide that Lewis, Roberts & Roberts is the lesser of the evils and agrees to hire them.

Back at the office, the models want to leave because the shoot hasn’t started. Sydney does everything to keep them there, including insulting their intelligence. Adriana challenges Sydney to participate in Model Book Club where they review the works of Kafka. Needless to say, Sydney isn’t up to par with the models and they decide to take off. During the book club you get a great peak at Sydney’s hot pink suede pumps:

104112_fox_02907b I found these Jessica Simpson Jasmint pink suede pumps ($49.99) for a look for less:

Zach ends up saving the day by getting the bra off of Lauren and Andrew keeps the models by performing magic tricks. Apparently, models love magic.

I loved watching SMG in this episode! And who doesn’t love the fantasy bra?

The Crazy Ones “Sixteen-Inch Softball” Recap

This week on The Crazy Ones, it’s time for the annual Accounts vs. Creatives Sixteen-Inch Softball game. This year the stakes are high because the firm had to let a client go. This means that someone from the Creative or Account teams will need to be let go. Gordon (Brad Garrett) and Simon (Robin Williams) make a bet that the team who loses will have to make the cut.

Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) wears a perforated leather top by Rebecca Taylor ($158), sold-out teal Kaleidoscope pumps by Charlotte Olympia and sold-out Arte Designs Turquoise Gemstone Earrings ($45):

Screen Shot 2013-12-17 at 2.18.50 PMI found the Stella & Dot Serenity Stone Drop Earrings ($49) and these Shi by Journey’s teal pump ($29.99) to complete the look:

Screen Shot 2013-12-17 at 2.28.55 PM

This puts a lot of pressure on the Creative team and nobody wants to sign up for the game. The only thing that will inspire hope in the team is if Simon decides to come out of retirement and play this year. Ten years ago, in the annual firm game, Simon played the game of his life when he hit five homeruns and won the game for the Creatives.

104002_fox_0259b

Simon confesses to Zach (James Wolk) that they only reason he played so well is because he was on an acid trip and he is terrible at sports. Zach convinces him that the other team just needs to think he is playing and that will be enough to psych them out. This works for a while as Gordon walks Simon every time he is up to bat and then Simon throws his back out in the end. Unfortunately, Simon takes some muscle relaxers and suddenly thinks he can play again. He ends up hallucinating a wondrous victory, but in reality, he doesn’t even hit the ball and ends up running the bases backwards.

This was a cute episode, I love the dynamic between Simon and Gordon.
