The Crazy Ones “Breakfast Burrito Club” Recap

This week on The Crazy Ones, we learned about the creative process. I loved this episode for calling out how difficult it is to come up with a great idea. Now, their creative process is a little different than mine, but I loved Sydney’s (Sarah Michelle Gellar) big creative binder. She really is the yin to Simon’s (Robin Williams) yang.

This was especially funny as she was supposed to take a vacation to Hawaii, which normal people would be excited about, but she tried every excuse in the book to avoid going. A workaholic by nature, she couldn’t stand to unplug and relax.

Sydney wears a Rebecca Taylor Prisma Flower Blouse ($159) and Peggy Li Black Diamond Threader Earrings ($89). I found this Kensie Peplum Blouse ($49.99) that gives you a similar look for less:

The night doesn’t exactly go as planned, but after a number of creative endeavors and an awkward kiss they eventually get to the big idea. Sydney wears a Gold Hawk Silk Tank ($160.65) and the Theory Gabe Blazer ($395). I found a similar Farr West lace trim tank ($45) and a Zara pinstripe blazer ($89.90):

The Crazy Ones “Bad Dad” Recap

On this week’s episode of The Crazy Ones, Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) finally learned how to drive. Simon (Robin Williams) and Sydney pitched AllState Insurance for a father/daughter campaign to talk about life milestones. After the pitch they realized that they didn’t really have a lot of these milestones and the ones they did have were sort of a mess. Sydney realizes that she wouldn’t trade any those crazy experiences, because they made her who she is.

The best part of the whole episode, at the end in the outtakes, where Robin Williams asks where she learned all of those Dukes of Hazzard moves and Sarah Michlle Gellar responds “Sunnydale.” LOVE IT!

Now, let’s get to the clothes! During the AllState pitch, Sydney wears a sold-out Hudson Printed Silk Top, a black Tuxedo Blazer ($89.98) and the Tania Green Onyx Earrings from Brooklyn Designs ($64)   I found a similar colored blouse from Kenneth Cole ($60.99):

During the crazy driving lesson, Sydney wears a BCBGMaxAzria Print Top ($89.99), a black JCrew Sweater ($65) and Peggi Li Rosy Red Earrings ($89):

During the last scene, when Simon takes Sydney “camping” to make up for an unfortunate camping incident, she wears an off-the-shoulder Metro Chicago shirt from Sportiqe ($40):

The Crazy Ones “The Spectacular” Recap

I love the dynamic between Simon (Robin Williams) and Zach (James Wolk), they are hilarious together. This week on The Crazy Ones, Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is tasked to come up with “a spectacular” for Windy Cindy Coffee.

I loved the premise of this episode, mostly because I am in the public relations business and am no stranger to the “spectacular” idea. No matter what client you are working with there is always pressure to surprise and delight them with big ideas. I’ve never had a big idea go as wrong as the Windy City Coffee event, but I couldn’t help but be impressed by the team’s quick thinking and turnaround with a new idea. All in a day’s work.

Sydney had some great outfits this week, the first is the Parker Pearl Silk Henley Top ($79.20) with  a Rebecca Taylor jacket of which there are two different styles, a Matte Crepe Jacket ($395) and a Leather Trim Blazer ($256.67). I found a similar look for less blazer at Kohls for ($34.99). She also wears a black leather skirt – I found a faux leather skirt at Dillards for $29.40:

During the spectacular disaster, Sydney wears a Banana Republic Flared Trench ($225, ID Source: Possessionista), the Rag and Bone Harrow Booties ($495) and an adorable fedora. I couldn’t find a similar color/bow combination, but Nordstrom has a similar style fedora for $39. For similar booties for less, try the DV Jaxen Boot ($128.95):

At the final Windy City Coffee meeting, Sydney wears a winning Marc by Marc Jacobs Minetta Print Blouse ($248):

The Crazy Ones “Pilot” Recap

I was more excited for The Crazy Ones to start than any other show this season. Why? Because of Sarah Michelle Gellar. I have loved watching Gellar since her Buffy the Vampire Slayer days. I find it funny that I am now going to recap her outfits from The Crazy Ones, because I used to do this during Buffy. I didn’t really id the original outfits, but I would try to find similar looks so I could recreate them.

The Crazy Ones is set at an ad agency in Chicago owned by father/daughter duo Simon and Sydney Roberts. They team is about to lose their biggest account, McDonald’s. I’m not sure if anyone else saw the irony in the writer’s choice of McDonald’s as the big client. As a small child, Gellar’s first commercial was for Burger King in which she criticized McDonald’s. The commercial even led to a lawsuit from McDonald’s.

I thought the pilot was fantastic. I LOVED the scene with Robin Williams and James Wolk singing the “drive through lovin” song to Kelly Clarkson…hilarious!

I love how Sydney (Gellar) saved the day (and the account) by singing to Kelly Clarkson. I thought this was extra special because she pretty much vowed never to sing on TV again after the Buffy musical. I like that working with Robin Williams seems to push her out of her comfort zone. Hopefully we’ll see more of that this season.

Now, let’s get down to the clothes: Sarah’s first outfit includes a Helmut Lang leather biker jacket (sold out) and a Ted Baker Orchid Print Top (sold out):

To recreate this look, you can try the INC Faux-Leather Motorcycle Jacket ($89.50) and this floral blouse from Vince Camuto ($19.99): tco She also carries a Tom Ford Jennifer Large Calfskin Shoulder Bag ($2990). You can check out this B. Makowsky Glove Leather Convertible Messenger Bag ($265) for a less expensive option: Tom Ford Bag Her second outfit showcases a beautiful Rebecca Taylor Hawaii Zip Jacket ($174.99) and I found a Trina Turk hot pink blouse ($188) to go with it:

In the scene with Kelly Clarkson, Sydney adds an All Saints leather trench and a pair of Prada Pink Two Tone Suede Platform Peep Toes ($517.50):

I LOVED the Prada shoes, but unfortunately they don’t have them in my size anymore. If you love them to you can find a similar pair at DSW for $49.94:
