I have some fun and exciting news this week – a new giveaway!

1. Wife After God Giveaway

My new Be the Best You in 2014 series is off to a great start. I started with the Wife After God 30-day devotional and I am loving it! My husband is really responding to the challenges each day. It was such a busy week for both of us and this was the perfect thing for me to keep him top priority.  As part of the devotional, I found an amazing prayer journal, which I just got in the mail from Integrity Graphics. Jennifer from Integrity Graphics has generously offered to giveaway a custom prayer journal to one of my lucky readers.

Mine is below, which is customized for my husband and I. I can’t wait to use it during my next devotional! The giveaway will stay open for a week, make sure to enter here or at the bottom of this post.

4. Necessary Roughness Costume Liquidation

For those of you that watched Necessary Roughness this summer, I have some fun news for you. We are all sad that the show got cancelled, but I was recently contacted by the costume department and they are selling a lot of pieces from the show, some of them were even featured here on my blog. There are a lot more items to come, but the first piece is from Karissa Lee Staples character, Paloma. If you wear a 8.5 show, then you are in luck! The bid price is starting at $29.99, you can check it out here:

Screen Shot 2014-01-09 at 10.49.25 PM

These are Screen used shoes worn by Karissa Lee Staples playing the character “Paloma” in the show Necessary Roughness. They are the JCrew Everly Pump. The black pad and rubber tip over the heel can easily be peeled off but they left it on to show you a little behind the scenes magic. These shoes would have caused too much noise walking around the set. This method of silencing the shoes is commonly done in Hollywood. These shoes cost the production $264.60. A certificate of authenticity is available upon request.

5. Sip Happens Party

I am excited to be part of the Sip Happens Party with Val from Chicken Scratch, Eva Marie Taylor and Erin from Living in Yellow. I have been collecting items for my party and have already purchased the wine. I send out my invitations this week and can’t wait to share everything with you. You can read more below and check out my Sip Happens Party post here.

Necessary Roughness “Snap Out Of It” Recap

This week, Dani (Callie Thorne) treats a self-help guru (who doesn’t believe in therapy) who wants to commit suicide. Sound like a challenge? Not for Dr. Santino. Dani is fresh off her trip to Idaho with Connor (John Stamos) and having a great time at V3. Paloma (Karissa Lee Staples), her assistant, pushes her to have more of a social life and invites her to a V3 Girl’s Night Out. Paloma wears a Joie Pearline Snake-Print Blouse. Unfortunately, this is sold out, but I love Joie blouses and am always shopping for them on eBay. Joie has a few similar animal print blouses including the Gudelia Top ($258) and the Purine Top ($238).

Connor takes Dr. Dani to meet Nolan Powers (Ioan Gruffudd), a self-help guru who doesn’t believe in talk therapy. Dani wears a sold-out Lida Baday Colorblock Stretch Knit Dress. There are a few white ones left on eBay, but I found a similar dress from Trina Turk ($298):

Meanwhile, TK (Mechad Brooks) is enjoying his sobriety by hooking up with his new friend, Sheera (Kate Miner) that he met at the V3 party last week. Sheera is giving TK a run for his money and she actually leaves him a parting gift on her way out. TK needs a challenge and this is an interesting turn of events for him. TK hunts Sheera down and tells her that he wants to attach strings.

Before Dr. Santino can talk to Nolan, his wife interrupts them and steals him away for lunch, leaving Dani puzzled at the whole situation. She mentions it to Connor, who brings it up to Nolan, but Nolan just brushes it off.

We finally find out more about what Nico (Scott Cohen) has been up to. When he worked for Marshall Pittman, he did a lot of illegal things so the Feds are blackmailing him to do the same for V3 and in return they will wipe his record clean.

TK visits Dani for their regular session and he is gushing about his new relationship with Sheera. He decides that Dr. Santino needs to “get some” of her own and offers to set her up. She turns down the offer, but decides to go to the V3 Girl’s Night Out instead. Dani wears the Joie Siegal Split Neck Top which is also sold out, but you can hunt a few down on eBay.

Dani is having a great time at the V3 GNO, when she is hit on by one of the other agents for her patient, Cindy Luck (Johanna Braddy). He comes on strong and it seems like this might have been something of a set up.

The night is interrupted by an emergency call from Nolan Power’s wife. She brings copies of Nolan’s emails to Dani and they discover that he has created a fake email account to talk to 12-year old girls, a very serious charge. Dani confronts Connor with this information and leaves him to address it with Powers. Powers denies it and demands to take a lie detector test to prove his innocence.

Dani wears her navy three-quarter sleeve blazer ($89.95), a turquoise tank top ($20.99) and carries her Michael Kors Handbag, Jet Set East West Top Zip Tote ($248)  in luggage:

TK has dinner with Sheera and finds out that there is more to her than meets the eye. She is a highly-educated Stanford graduate that has lofty goals and ambitions. This is all starting to seem too good to be true. She wants to team up with TK to create a special lingerie line. I see warning flags here, this is all moving way too fast. I was right on this account, Sheera ends up presenting the idea to Connor without TK. He catches her and kicks her to the curb before she can explain.

Nico stops by to tell Dani that Nolan passed the polygraph test. Dani gets a frantic call from Nolan and her and Nico run out to meet him at his hotel room. When they get there he is gone but there are stickers, toys and cartoons all over the room. I am thinking maybe a multiple personality disorder, which could explain all of Powers’ migraines.

Dani wears a Theory Yaisa Leather Sleeve Open Blazer ($445) which is still available in black:

Nico finally tracks him down – he was arrested for trying to burn down his childhood home. The police are holding him, but they said he was disoriented. Right again! When Dani tries to talk to powers, she discovers an eight-year-old boy named Scotty as one of Powers’ other personalities. Dani is able to explain the symptoms to Powers and discover that he has repressed this personality because of the abuse he experienced as a child.

Connor loves the Brickhouse lingerie idea and encourages Sheera and TK to kiss and make up so they can launch this new endeavor together.

Nico does his job for the Feds and he asks in return to go visit someone stuck at the Immigration named Alex Careles.

Connor and Dani meet Nolan Powers at the book signing to discover that he won’t go to a therapist. His alter ego, Scotty, writes Dani a note that says “At least we tried.” Connor doesn’t believe what he is seeing.

Back at the office, Paloma scolds Dani for passing up a great time with Cindy’s agent (is it sad that I can’t even remember his name?). He stops in and invites Dani out to drinks, then he propositions her to come up to his hotel room, which she accepts!!! Didn’t see that one coming.

Paloma wears a Diane von Furstenberg Jeanne Two Chain Link Wrap Dress. It is sold out in the purple color, but there are a few on eBay. The red version and the red and black version are still available.

What did you think about this week’s episode?  Who do you think Nico is visiting? Maybe a son? What repercussions do you think Dani will experience after sleeping with her new friend? Will Nolan Powers ever get help?

If there are any items that you would like me to ID or find alternate looks for, please post them in the comments below.

In case you missed it you can still watch the episode here.

Necessary Roughness “Swimming with Sharks” Recap

The new format of Necessary Roughness takes a little getting used to. I find it a little odd that we are being pushed to forget all of the old storylines and just move on. In the beginning scene of this week’s episode it is really obvious that the show is trying to account for these loose ends because we see Dani (Callie Thorne) trying to contact her son, Ray Jay to no avail. It is weird that her kids haven’t really been present in the first few episodes and we really don’t know what happened with Juliet and Ray Jay.

I’m willing to accept the new format, but anytime they address the old stuff I think it comes off as very awkward in the flow of the show. I am interested to see how this will work in the next few episodes. I hope everything will come full circle.

Dani attempts to make her daughter, Lindsay (Hannah Marks), breakfast but she has to run out the door.  In this scene she is wearing some of he fashion staples from last week including her Gucci Peep Toe Buckle Pumps ($615), her Gucci Leather Horsebit Belt ($275) and her Michael Kors Jet Set East West Top Zip Tote ($248).

I was finally able to identify her “D” charm as the Alphabet Charm from Helen Ficarola:

Helen Ficalora Charm

As she heads off to V3, Dani runs into TK (Mehcad Brooks) showing off his first print ad for Machismo. He is proud of his new ad and that he has finally reached his one-year anniversary of sobriety. Paloma (Karissa Lee Staples) interrupts with Dani’s schedule and lets her know that Friday night is MV3, a monthly cocktail party where Connor (John Stamos) gives out a bonus check to an MVP for the month.

Paloma wears a black peplum dress. I found a similar dress from Alice + Olivia ($264):

Connor takes Dani to a basketball game to meet a potential new client. Everything seems to be going smoothly, until one of the players, Devon Langer (Sinqua Walls), gets a little out of control on the court. The catch? Langer isn’t one of Connor’s clients, but he wants Dani to help bring him in. Dani agrees to help Langer, as long as she can focus on helping him and not try to win him over to the agency.

She layers her navy blazer from the season premiere (Calvin Klein Navy Blazer $89.95) with the Joie Rancher Top ($158), her Helen Ficarola charm (see above) and an Anna Beck Bali Cuff ($412):

pink blouse

Dani meets with Langer (who mentions he grew up in Detroit – shoutout!) with his single mom. Langer’s free throw percentage has gone from 80 percent to 40 percent in the past year, so Dani tries to figure out what has changed in his life. Dani starts working with Langer on his muscle memory and gets him to focus on going back to the basics of his free throw. Everything is going great and we get to meet Langer’s mother, Lana (Gabrielle Beauvais), who is more like a friend then a mother.

In the meantime, Connor, Troy (David Anders) and Nico (Scott Cohen) are dealing with an attack on V3. Someone has messed with the phone system and Connor thinks that another agency is going to try and steal clients. They get the phones back up but find out that they’ve been hacked. Connor receives a mysterious package of  “dirty laundry” from SBG Managament, the agency that represents Devon Langer.

Back at V3, Paloma (Karissa Lee Staples) fills Dani in on the phone system crisis and the V3 agency party. Paloma wears a sold out L’Agence Pleated Bodice Dress. I found a similar style from Calvin Klein ($96):

Sheath dress

Nico and Troy figure out a way to get back at the hackers by giving them a code that can be downloaded, in essence hacking the hackers. Troy doesn’t seem to trust him just yet and we realize just how paranoid Troy is when he has Nico followed.

At Langer’s game everything is going great and he takes Dani’s advice on his free throw. It works and he gets a great momentum going. Unfortunately, he starts to lose his focus when Lana starts a fight with the referee getting them both kicked out of the game.

Now that TK has reached one year of sobriety it means that he can start dating again. A woman approaches him and asks him on a date because of his new Machismo ad. TK is pleased because he’s still got it! TK’s date with Abby (Autumn Reeser) goes very well until he finds out that she is a managing partner at SBG and that their “date” was really a sales pitch. She gets his attention by promising him loyalty…and Nike.

Dani meets with Langer and his mother, Lana for a session to work through their problems. She tries to get them to set some boundries, but Lana blows up at Dani and Langer defends her. The session ends badly with Lana and Langer storming out.

TK comes to Connor to inform him about his “date” with Abby a.k.a. “Bruce.” Connor tells TK that V3 has a 98 percent retention rate but he is free to leave anytime. The caveat is that once you walk out on V3 you don’t get to come back. TK decides to stay at V3 in the end. He also meets a beautiful model at V3 who just became a new client. Will she be a new love interest for TK?

Dani meets with Langer to try to help him again. She has discovered his real problem is that he has anger and tension towards his mother. Langer also has tension directed at his teammate, Kyle Burke, who we discover is sleeping with Langer’s mother.

Dani wears her white blazer from Episode 2 (Jones New York $79), an orange and white print blouse and covered peep toe wedges. I found a similar printed blouse from Sandra Ingrish ($54) and wedges from Pour La Victoire Lena ($227.99):

Necessary Roughness

orange blouse

Langer opens up about his mom and he is worried that history will repeat itself. Lana was depressed in the past and tried to commit suicide. Langer wants to keep her happy because he doesn’t want her to fall into a depression again. Dani and Langer agree to work through this with Lana.

Nico brings the hacker to Connor and Troy and convinces them to poach the hacker by hiring him to hack SBG. At the end of the episode Nico reveals that he is playing Troy and Connor and that the hack/agency war was an elaborate scheme to get a peek at V3’s books. We also learn that Nico is spying for someone, we just aren’t sure who it is yet.

Connor ends up getting Langer to come to V3 by poaching Langer’s agent. We also learn that Bruce broke Connor’s heart. When his father was dying Bruce stole his clients and files and started her own agency. Wow…that is harsh.

At the end of the episode we see Lindsey blowing Dani off for a sleepover and Ray J finally calling her back. This means that she has time to attend the MV3 party. At the party, Dani gets a huge bonus for bringing in new clients and is named the MV3. Dani is still uncomfortable with all of the glitz, glamour and money of this position but I think she will ultimately give in.

Dani wears a Yigal Azrouel Tucked Crepe Dress ($432):

Yigal Azroul Dress

What are your thoughts about this episode? The dynamic between Nico and Dani is interesting. They are still very flirtatious, but he is keeping her at arm’s length. I can’t see her with Connor though, he is too intense and doesn’t seem to be her type.

In case you missed it you can still watch the episode here.

Necessary Roughness “Gimme Some Lovin” Recap

We begin this episode entrenched in the new show format. Dani (Callie Thorne) is making herself right at home at V3 and she has really stepped up her wardrobe:

Dani wears a navy Michael Kors halter top, which I couldn’t find, but I did find a similar one at Cache ($58), a Burberry Layered Mesh Pencil Skirt ($425), a Gucci Leather Horsebit Belt ($275), Gucci Peep Toe Buckle Pumps ($615) and the Michael Kors Jet Set East West Top Zip Tote ($248) we saw in last week’s episode:

UPDATE: It looks like the Cache halter top is no longer available, so you might try this Trina Turk Draped Halter Top from Nordstrom.

She immediately runs into Paloma (Karissa Lee Staples), her new assistant, who gives her the lowdown on V3 and her new schedule. Dani tries to refuse some of the V3 amenities to no avail. Paloma is wearing a Diane Von Furstenberg dress ($303.42):

Dani attends her first staff meeting and receives her new client, Buttons a.k.a. Cindy Luck (Johanna Braddy), who is a former child star who has a mess of problems. V3 is responsible for keeping her in line while they try to rehab her image. Dani will have to work with Nico (Scott Cohen) on this case to keep Cindy in line.

Troy (David Anders) pulls Nico aside to let him know that he wants Dani gone. Nico says that he will take care of it. We still don’t know what he’s up to.

TK (Mechad Brooks) is still adjusting to the new Hawks coach. He stops in and tries to meet with Dani, but she can’t help him because she has an exclusive contract with V3. TK sees an easy solution to that problem by becoming a V3 client himself. Connor (John Stamos) tells him that his image needs some work.

Dani gets her first taste of Buttons and it is not a good one. We learn that Cindy is obsessed with her boyfriend, Dylan and that she gets hives when she is stressed. Cindy ends up taking too much allergy medicine and it looks like she overdosed, but she really just fell asleep. Her boyfriend Dylan called to break up with her and it sent her into a spiral. Dani gives her some good advice and says that after a breakup we do a euphoric recall, where we only remember the best parts of the relationship, but don’t remember the bad parts.

We get a close up of Dani’s tortoise Tory Burch Resin Logo Cuff ($50):

Tory Burch Resin Logo Cuff

TK talks to Rex (Travis Smith) about V3 and we find out that he also signed with Connor which probably means that we will see him back as one of Dani’s clients soon. Connor brings TK Machismo, sort of like a younger Old Spice, as his first advertising campaign. TK isn’t very excited about this, but he needs to nail the meeting first.

Paloma brings Dani lots of extras, a company car, phone, American Express Card and lots of designer clothes (Prada, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, oh my!). I love Dani’s white on white look here and found this white Jones New York Blazer ($79) that is similar to hers:

I found a great lookalike for Paloma’s navy dress with this Kasper sheath ($62.99):

Dani gets ready for a dinner date with Connor in what looks like this Dolce & Gabbana ruched dress ($2125). This satin cowl neck dress from David’s Bridal ($139) is just as sexy, with a smaller price tag:

Their dinner date goes well and we learn some of Connor’s backstory. He came from a dysfunctional family and went to the University of Michigan (shoutout GO BLUE!), started managing athletes and turned it into V3.

The next day Dani and Nico meet Cindy on set for her nude scene, everything seems to be going fine, until Cindy disrobes and we see find out that she got a brand new tattoo on her back that says “Lars4Eva.”

Dani is wearing a green halter top (I found a similar top from Vince Camuto $37.97), with a black pencil skirt and the Gucci Peep Toe Buckle Pumps ($615) and Gucci Leather Horsebit Belt ($275) again:

Meanwhile, TK takes a dinner meeting with Machismo, the men’s fragrance line. Unfortunately, Marci, the client (Lindsey McKeon) comes on really strong and TK feels like he might have to sleep with her to close the deal. He is trying to be professional and rehab his image. She also tries to get TK to get her some cocaine, which is a problem because he is a recovering addict. He tries to call Dani for advice, but then he gets a lucky break when a purse snatcher runs off and he starts chasing him.

Dani does her usual client research and discovers that Cindy has had a string of boyfriends. Then Cindy and Nico show up at her door and we find out that Dylan put out a restraining order for Cindy and she has to stay away from him. Dani wears a red Helmut Lang Asymmetric Marled Pullover ($150):

Helmut Lang Pullover

Nico discovers that Dylan and Cindy had only been on three dates and were never really together in the first place. It looks like Cindy is a stalker. Dani and Cindy have their second therapy session and really start to uncover some of her issues. Dani diagnoses her with Love Addiction.

TK meets with Connor again and he reveals that Marci was a test, but it worked out because TK catching the purse snatcher ended up getting a ton of hits on Twitter. This ended up being great for his image and his new campaign will be “Do Good, Smell Great.” At the end of the day he gets to see Dr. Santino again.

Dani sits down with Connor to recap at the end of the day and he gives her a little more insight on his first deal, which was with the Yankees. She says that people are more afraid of success than failure, because they don’t think they deserve it which is interesting advice. Dani decides to stay at V3 and take advantage of all of the amenities they are offering.

At the end of the episode we find out that Nico is meeting with someone and providing them with information on V3. He is trying to get Dani out of the organization so she doesn’t get hurt. I hope they get past this and are able to get together at some point this season.

What did you think of Gimme Some Lovin? Do you think that Dani and Nico will ever get together?

In case you missed it you can still watch the episode here.

Necessary Roughness “Ch-Ch-Changes” Recap

Necessary Roughness is back for Season 3 and they’ve added John Stamos and David Anders to the cast! Could it get any better?

Here’s where we left off in Season 2:

  • Nico (Scott Cohen) was offered a job in Dallas with Mark Cuban but before he leaves, some sketchy federal agents take him away for something.
  • Dani (Callie Thorne) and Matt (Marc Blucas) were on the verge of getting back together, but Noelle (Michaela McManus) finds out she is expecting Matt’s child.
  • Dani’s son, Ray (Patrick Johnson) runs off to Europe with Juliette Pittman (Danielle Panabaker).

We open Season 3 six months later with a new head coach for the Hawks that has a decorated football career. Things happen fast as we see a wedding ring on Matt’s finger and the new coach fires Dani within the first few minutes of the show.

Dani has a fabulous Michael Kors Jet Set East West ($248) bag:

I am happy to see Jeanette (Amanda Detmer) back this season. She provides a good balance for Dani and as a way for us to catch up on what has happened in the last six months. We find out that Matt ended up marrying Noelle.

Dani gets a call from Nico letting her know that there is a limousine in her driveway and she needs to get in. She ends up at V3, a management company, and meets Connor McClane (John Stamos) and Troy Cutler (David Anders, who I will always think of as Sark from Alias). They present her with a new client, Darryl Hutchinson, a star pitcher about ready to enter the draft with a fear of flying.

Back at the Hawks, T.K. (Mehcad Brooks) is having trouble adjusting to the new coach without Dr. Dani. The new coach wants him to see a new therapist, which doesn’t go very well.

Coach with Rex and TK

Coach with Rex and TK

We finally see Dani confront Nico and she slaps him! I love her. He doesn’t really tell us anything except that he’s still in New York and didn’t end up going to Dallas.

She meets her new client, “Hutch” and helps him conquer his fear of flying. I was a psychology major in college, and I find this part of the show really interesting. She figures out that his fear of flying is really a symptom of post traumatic stress disorder from an event that happened to his schoolmate a year ago. I did love that she gave him a skittle during the first flight and told him it would help him calm down. I’m not sure if this would actually work in real life, but it was a great tactic in the story.

Dani always has the best wedges. You can recreate her flying outfit with this Calvin Klein Navy Blazer ($89.95), Brooks Brothers Cowl Neck Blouse ($99) and Mossimo Black Wedges ($29.99):

You can recreate Dani’s look at her V3 meeting with this Mixed Leather Blazer ($54.99) and Orange Drape Neck Tank ($17.40):

As she is looking into Hutch’s background she is wearing a black and tan striped sweater. I found a similar one on Bluefly for $55.20:

TK stopped to check on a teammate and got in trouble by the coach after he started talking back. He takes off his jersey and quits the team. Matt goes after him, but TK calls him out for not fighting for Dani. This was a nice way to wrap up the storyline and rib Matt for letting Dani go.

Matt tries to get Dani to help TK, but she makes it clear that TK is a client and she isn’t his therapist anymore. She also lets him know that her time with the Hawks is officially over. This becomes irrelevant when TK shows up at her door asking for advice. She gets him back on track and he apologizes to the coach and lets him know that he is committed to getting a ring this season.

Connor is happy with Dani’s work and asks her to join the agency full time as therapist for their clients. He offers her a sweet deal but she has to close her private practice and work exclusively with V3.

To wrap up the episode, Matt visits Dani and apologizes for how things worked out with him and Noelle. He also drops the bomb that he is leaving the Hawks to move to Boston with Noelle. I read a few articles online and this is the real deal, he isn’t coming back because he has a new show that will air on ABC. This was a bittersweet goodbye in more ways than one. I heart Marc Blucas and can’t wait to watch him again in the future.

Dani decides to take the plunge and joins V3 permanently. This seems to upset Nico as we hear him on the phone saying “We have a problem.”

You can get her brown leather jacket look at Shopbop for $318:
