Fall 2014 TV Preview

I could not be more excited for Fall TV this year! I am actually swapping in a new DVR this weekend and am going to get everything programmed in. Here is what I will be watching and I will note which ones I will be recapping. Let me know if there are any shows you would love to see me recap.

September 15

Dancing With the Stars (ABC)

So I ended up skipping last season’s DWTS because I didn’t have time to commit to watching 3-4 hours every week. I am 50/50 on watching this season. I love the show, but it is just soooooo long. There are going to be some good contestants this year like Alfonso Ribeiro (do you think he will do the Carlton?), Betsey Johnson (count on her doing the splits), Antonio Sabato, Jr. (this year’s eye candy), and Bethany Mota (YouTube sensation and probably my only hope of every being on this show, so I need to get more readers, lol).

Madam Secretary (CBS)

I love political dramas, but I love Tea Leoni even more, so this seems like a great combination. The show follows the life of a former CIA Analyst turned Secretary of State, Elizabeth McCord (Leoni) and looks like a winner. After watching the clip below, I know I will be hooked!

The Good Wife (CBS)

When we last left Alicia (Julianna Marguiles), she had just been asked to run for the State’s Attorney’s office. Pair that with potentially merging with Diane (Christine Baranski), we have a great new season shaping up. It also looks like Alicia may have a new love interest, but will she ever divorce Peter (Chris Noth)? I will be covering The Good Wife fashion again, you can see my previous Good Wife posts here.

September 22

Gotham (FOX)

Gotham is a new drama that is just what it sounds like, a Batman prequel. This follows Harvey Gordon as he moves up the ranks of Gotham PD and has an all-star cast including Jada Pinkett Smith, Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue among others. This looks like a great one to watch with the hubby!

Forever (ABC)

This show looked interesting and mostly caught my eye because it stars Ioan Gruffudd, who we last saw on Ringer. Gruffudd stars as Doctor Henry Morgan who is NYC’s medical examiner. Henry has a secret, he is immortal, alive for 200 years, but has no idea why.

Update: You can watch the pilot episode OnDemand. I liked it so far, looks like it could be a great series.

 September 23

Chicago Fire (NBC)

John and I are a little behind on this one, so I am just going to post the clip so I don’t ruin it before we get caught up.

Person of Interest (CBS)

This is another one that John and I haven’t caught up with yet. We stopped watching after Carter (Taraji P. Henson) died, so I am excited to get caught up and see where the show ended up.

September 25

Bones (FOX)

I have to admit, I was a little confused at the end of Season Nine, I wasn’t exactly sure what happened or how. Season 10 sees Booth (David Boreanaz) incarcerated for the murder of three FBI agents and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) trying to clear his name.

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC)

And then there were two…can you believe that only Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Alex (Justin Chambers) are the only original interns left? This season opens with Alex and Bailey (Chandra Wilson) fighting over Christina’s board seat, Derek (Patrick Dempsey) moving to Washington DC without Meredith and new doctors on the scene it should be interesting how they keep this show alive.

Scandal (ABC)

Last year’s season finale was jam-packed with surprises, from Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Mellie’s (Bellamy Young) son dying, Fitz discovering her secret and then winning a second term, the first family has gone through a lot. Harrison (Columbus Short) is dead, killed by Eli (Joe Morton) who now has everything he wants, including revenge on Fitz. Huck (Guillermo Diaz) came face-to-face with his family and Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Jake (Scott Foley) jetted off into the sunset, but not before sending David Rosen (Joshua Malina) a smoking gun for B613. So where on earth is Olivia Pope? I covered Scandal fashion last year and will again this year. To catch up on my previous posts, click here.

How to Get Away with Murder (ABC)

This is the new show from mastermind Shonda Rimes. This show follows Professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) as she teaches her law students how to help their clients get away with murder. From the preview it looks like they will have to put her advice to good use. This looks pretty good and the clothes look great to, so I may have to cover this one as well…

September 28

Revenge (ABC)

When we last left Emily (Emily Vancamp) her plan has finally succeeded. The Graysons are ruined…but not without a price. Aiden was poisoned by Victoria (Madeline Stowe). It also looks like David Clarke (James Tupper) is still alive! What will happen this season is anyone’s guess.

September 29

Castle (ABC)

When we last looked in on Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) it was their wedding day…but Castle never made it to the altar. He was kidnapped by someone in the finale cliffhanger. Will these two ever get their happy ending?

October 2

The Vampire Diaries (CW)

Is Damon (Ian Somerholder) really gone?

Reign (CW)

Mary (Adelaide Kane) is officially the Queen of France, just in time to deal with the plague. I’m curious to see how this show will continue as history tells us that Francis (Toby Regbo) doesn’t live very long after their marriage.

October 3

Kendra on Top (WE)

I’ve loved watching Kendra for years, I thought her story of finding Hank and growing out of her party phase was touching. I feel terrible for everything she has had to go through recently and couldn’t watch this clip with out getting goosebumps. I am interested to see how she will react this season.

October 5

Homeland (Showtime)

Last season was heartbreaking as Brody was executed with a devastated Carrie (Claire Danes) watching pregnant with his unborn child. After killing off the main character, I’m not sure where the show goes from here.

October 6

The Originals (CW)

The season finale was surprise after surprise, with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) giving up baby Hope to Rebekah (Claire Holt). There are lots of new faces this season and it will be interesting to see where it goes. This show most surprised me last year, I like it so much more than the Vampire Diaries.

October 12

The Affair (Showtime)

The only thing I know about this show is that Joshua Jackson is in it and that is enough for me. The preview looks pretty steamy…

October 24

Grimm (NBC)

In the season finale Rosalee (Bree Turner) and Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) got married, Nick (David Giuntoli) lost his powers and Adalind (Claire Coffee) is trying to get her baby back. I also forgot that Nick slept with Adalind while she was pretending to be Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch)! In this clip, the producers talk about what to expect in Season 4.

November 6

White Collar (USA)

I am so sad to see White Collar go! The show was cancelled, but USA is giving the writers six episodes to wrap everything up. When we left off, Neal (Matt Bomer) had been abducted by a mystery group and Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) accepted a job in Washington, D.C. possibly leaving Peter (Tim DeKay) behind. I followed all of Elizabeth’s fashion last season and plan to so so again for the final episodes. You can read my previous recaps here.

Covert Affairs (USA)

We just finished the last season of Covert Affairs, but it was renewed for a sixth season and will follow White Collar on November 6. You can catch up with my recaps of the most recent season here.

Covert Affairs “Elevate Me Later” Recap

As this episode begins, things seem to be getting hot and heavy with Auggie (Christopher Gorham) and Hayley (Amy Jo Johnson). Right away Auggie gets a lead on “The Postman” the only lead they have in the Chicago attacks. Unfortunately, Auggie has to connect with his old flame, Natasha Petrovna (Liane Balaban) in order to track down the lead.

At the office Annie (Piper Perabo) wears a Scrunched Sleeve Blazer by Helmut Lang (sold out) and a mint blouse. This Kensie Women’s Stretch Crepe Blazer ($50.99) and this Chrissy Tulip Blouse In Mint ($38.99) are similar:

Auggie and Annie head to Paris to meet with Natasha to see if she will help them with a mission. Annie wears a Jonathan Saunders Lucy silk and cotton-blend jacquard dress (sold out). I liked this Tadashi Shoji Corded Lace Sheath Dress ($328) to recreate it:

Annie gets dressed up to try to find a way into the bank. If Natasha decides to help them in their quest, she’ll need to work her end. She wore the Roland Mouret Atria Wool Dress ($1,295 pounds). This Banana Republic Sloan Sheath ($140) is a great match:

red sheath

It doesn’t take long for Auggie to jump into bed with Natasha and she agrees to help them on one condition, getting all of the charges against her dropped. Auggie tries to explain to Annie that he didn’t mean to sleep with Natasha, but it didn’t take him very long to forget all about poor Hayley. Annie wears the IRO Ashville Leather Moto Jacket (sold out) and carries the Stella McCartney Falabella – Small Shaggy Deer Tote (sold out). To recreate the look, I chose this Calvin Klein Women’s Faux-Leather Moto Jacket ($159.50) and this Kate Landry Bucket Hobo Bag ($79):

blue jacket

Annie needs to find a way into the bank, so she reaches out to Ivan Kravec (Martin Csokas) pretending to be a gun sales representative. Before her date with Ivan, she needs to get Natasha’s code key. Unfortunately, the CIA refuses to make a deal with her and Annie has to steal it, unbeknownst to Auggie. On her date with Ivan, she wore a navy fit and flare dress with gold/bronze strappy heels. I really loved this Sleeveless Lace Yoke Skater Dress ($29.99) and this Steve Madden Rykie Ankle Strap Heel ($109) to recreate the look:

navy fit and flare

Annie is able to give him just enough to keep the charade going and then she drugs him and gains access to his computer. Auggie is furious with Annie for running the mission her way without any consideration to his feelings.

She tries to make amends with him back in D.C., but he called in sick and she didn’t get a chance to connect with him. They did find out that their trail leads them back to Ivan, so it looks like Annie will have to see him again. Back in D.C. she wears a Peaked Lapel Blazer by Smythe (sold out). This was a hard one to recreate, but I did find this Denim & Co. One Button Leather Jacket with Pintuck Detail ($121):

Annie tried to make amends with Natasha on Auggie’s behalf and it seemed to work because she showed up at his doorstep at the end of the episode. Now what will he do about Hayley?

Covert Affairs “Silence Kit” Recap

This week’s episode of Covert Affairs has Annie (Piper Perabo) and Auggie (Christopher Gorham) tracking down new leads on “The Postman.” Annie wears a radiant orchid blouse. I thought this Button Collar Blouse from The Limited ($34.96) was a great match:

Annie starts a stakeout of CIA operative who might be responsible for the Chicago attack. Her working outfit is casual with a navy jacket and blue t-shirt. I found this Eddie Bauer Alti Beach Jacket ($39.99) and Scoopneck Tee ($7) from Old Navy to recreate the look:

During her stakeout, Annie gets sideswiped and has to go to the hospital. This puts her in jeopardy because the agency will find out that she has a heart condition. She has to come clean with Auggie before her secret comes out. She still wants to wrap up her stakeout before the agency finds out about her condition and puts her behind a desk.

We also find out where Annie was for all of those months – she went to Eyal (Oded Fehr) who helped her diagnosis her condition and keep it under the radar. I LOVE this character and hope that these two will eventually get together. Annie wore a fabulous maxi dress while she was in Israel. I thought this Felicity & Coco Ezri Print Maxi Dress ($88) was a great match:

Back in the present, Annie and Auggie have to convince Joan (Kari Matchett) to authorize their opp. She is busy trying to keep business from McQuaid (Nicholas Bishop) and trying to keep Calder (Hill Harper) from imploding on himself. Annie gets approval to try and turn her suspect’s wife, but she doesn’t take the bait.

Annie’s suspect ends up confronting her at her apartment and she has to use the gun that McQuaid gave her in last week’s episode. This blows the case wide open and they end up stopping another similar attack, so wins all around. Annie expects that Joan will confront her about her heart condition, but she just scolds her for working with a concussion. Annie looks smart in a belted black sheath. I found this Jones New York Collection Brooke Sheath Dress ($119) to recreate her workplace look:

black sheathAnnie realizes that Auggie changed her medical records so nobody would find out about her heart condition. She heads over to his apartment to thank him and finds Haley (Amy Jo Johnson) there. So much for them dating before, there doesn’t seem to be anything left between them at this point. I loved how she paired her dress with a lightweight trench and green bag. I think this Urban Outfitters Silence + Noise Drapey Trench Coat ($149) and Ralph Lauren Tate Classic Tote ($109.99) are perfect!

Covert Affairs “Unseen Power of the Picket Fence” Recap

On this episode of Covert Affairs, Annie (Piper Perabo) and McQuaid (Nicholas Bishop) have to work together to get Borz (Michael Goorjian) out of Venezuela. They are initially thwarted at the border and are forced to take alternate measures.

In this episode Annie wears a Field Vest by Sanctuary ($92.24) and Prada Keyhole Sunglasses ($310). This Studded Military Vest ($36.90) and these Winston Keyhole Bridge Sunglasses ($14) are similar:

We end up getting a glimpse of Annie’s dark side when she lies to Borz about what happened to his sister. In the end, she gets the information she was looking for and I don’t feel too bad for Borz since he was a terrorist. Annie and McQuaid make it safely out of the country and live to fight another day.

McQuaid is still flirting with Annie and sent her a new gun as a gift. I love the sky blue blouse she is wearing and found this Gathered V-Neck Blouse from Express ($49.90) to match it:

Covert Affairs “False Skorpion” Recap

This week’s Covert Affairs sees Annie (Piper Perabo) packing her bags to Venezuela on the hunt for Borz Altan (Michael Goorjian). As she packs her bag, she makes sure to bring her secret medication, which is still a mystery. Annie wears a Mesh Back V Neck Top by Derek Lam (sold-out). This L’Agence Silk Tank with Mesh Racerback ($68) is similar:

On her hunt for Borz, she runs into McQuaid (Nicholas Bishop) who wants an hour alone with Borz before he gets turned over to the CIA. Annie carries the Explorer Crossbody Bag by Fossil ($178) and wears the Rag & Bone Classic Newbury Booties ($525). This Great American Leatherworks Triple Compartment Crossbody Bag ($79.99) and Jessica Simpson Maxi Booties ($44.99) are similar:

rag and bone

Annie competes with McQuaid to see who can find Borz first, she almost has him, but unfortunately, has an attack without her medication. McQuaid shows up to save the day and secure Borz, but not without getting his time alone to question Borz.

Annie reveals to McQuaid that she has a heart condition and that the CIA can’t find out about it or they would take her off of active duty.

In the meantime, Auggie (Christopher Gorham) gets investigated by the NCTC and agent Hayley Price (Amy Jo Johnson – pink Power Ranger anyone?). He comes down pretty hard on her initially, but by the end of the episode they are sleeping together!! He sure didn’t waste any time.

Covert Affairs “Shady Lane” Recap

I’ve watched Covert Affairs since the beginning and have wanted to cover it for the blog. I was hoping it would be a fun alternative to Alias (which I LOVED)! Annie (Piper Perabo) is no Sydney Bristow, but she does have great style for someone who lives out of her suitcase. Plus she does her job in Louboutin heels, what girl wouldn’t want to look fabulous while protecting national security?

The past few seasons, Annie has grown as a spy and it has been fun to watch. When we left off last season, she had gone dark to kill Henry in Hong Kong. This season begins with her coming back to the CIA four months later with a big secret.

When Annie gets back to work, she goes professional in a black pantsuit and deep blue blouse. I personally hate wearing long sleeves under a blazer, so I chose a sleeveless blouse to complete this look with the Tahari Jaycee Blouse ($58.90/sale) along with the Express Studio Stretch Notch Collar Jacket ($108) and Studio Stretch Barely Boot Editor Pant ($69.90):
